Located one mile from downtown Langley, this rare and romantic retreat is a unique balance of Northwest charm and peaceful serenity.
The two bedroom/one bathroom home is on five acres and framed by natural forest and fields, the three Koi ponds feature two waterfalls and a connecting stream between the two main ponds.(You can also rent The Art Box located right next door and easily accomadate 2-3 more) The grounds are meticulously maintained and feature a large collection of Japanese Maples, rhododendrons, irises, evergreens, ferns, and water lilies.
A garden path leads you over a small bridge and into a secret sitting area under a grove of old growth cedars, while another leads you to a large boulder at the edge of the pond, where hungry Koi wait to be fed. Other paths lead you past a shade pond, then spiral up to another hidden sitting area and the woods beyond.
The large windows and floor plan provide beautiful views from every room, creating a sense of living within nature while still maintaining total privacy from the outside world.

Definitely a rare find
Reviewed by: Jatinder J. recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2016 My family and I had a great time at this location. The cabin is very nice and the rate is fair. The hot tub overlooks the pond full of koi fish along with some grass to play around in. We will definitely be considering this property again in the future. Thanks for the awesome weekend.
A guest from Garland, Texas recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2016 Beautiful home 10min away from ferri. Very secluded, but beautiful gardens and ponds. It was scary at night in the living room because it is all glass windows. Also the fronts were very loud outside the master bedroom. Overall great place will definitely be back. Also it best to arrive in the daytime it is very dark.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tara Property Management South We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay! Yes, it's good for all future tenants to know to carry a flashlight if they will be arriving after dark. We try to leave porch lights on for our guests, but just in case that didn't happen, a back up light is a good idea. This home being in the woods can be especially dark, however there are lights along the pathway :) Thank you for your review.
Jeanne S. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2016 This was the most amazing property! The grounds were astonishing and we had it all to ourselves. The koi ponds were awesome and the trees!!! Wow...we opted to spend our days there rather than going into town - I didn't even miss the beach!
Property Manager Response: Response from Tara Property Management South We are so glad you had such a great time. Thank you for your review!
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2016 Love this place! Will definitely stay there again. One flaw- water had a strange smell to it- assuming because it was well water. Definitely not drinkable and still felt like I needed a shower after showering. ? But- overall an amazing, relaxing getaway. We were even greeted by deer every evening.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tara Property Management South Thank you for your review! We are so sorry about the smell of the water. The water for this house is drawn from a private well. It has been tested, certified, and is completely safe to drink and use. Unfortunately however, because it is well water, it will occasionally develop a smell. We are so sorry for the inconvenience that may have caused. The owner typically provides a gallon of store-bought water for guest use, and we hope that future tenants will contact us if that is not available. Thanks again!
Gabriel A. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2016 We booked a weekend to get out of the city and truly unwind and boy did Rhythm Waters deliver! The grounds were beautiful. The house was modern and clean inside. Nice amenities - gas stove, fridge, stocked with nice kitchenware and washer/dryer. It was just the 2 of us but would've been comfortable with another couple. We kicked ourselves for not booking another night. We'll be back for sure.I would suggest adding blinds to the main living area / kitchen...
Property Manager Response: Response from Tara Property Management South Thank you for your suggestion, we'll look into it. We're so glad you had a good time! Thank you for your review!
A guest from Nashville, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2015 Beautiful gardens and setting! Perfect location for a couple and guests that are comfortable with semi-privacy (loft opens up into bedroom so you can hear noise from loft to bedroom and vice versa). Furnishings are comfortable and full windows facing garden brings the outside in. You definitely feel like you are on vacation. Very close to town with shops and restaurants. I would recommend adding a piece of furniture in the bedroom that allows you to store clothes and towel hooks in the bathroom. We would definitely go back and recommend to others.
Barbara J L. from Port Townsend, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2015 We loved, loved, loved Rhythm Waters for our Thanksgiving get-away. Gardens glistening with frost, architectural features, beautiful landscaping, koi ponds, curved gravel pathways, and meditation seating together created a tranquil, relaxing setting. We enjoyed the visits by Heron, Deer and Squirrel. The kitchen and dining area were superb for cooking and eating our Thanksgiving feast. Everything was at our fingertips. What a marvelous ambience with soaring ceilings, winding staircase, and windows to our private storybook setting! We appreciated the heated cement floors when the temps dipped to freezing. The two-sided gas fireplace is attractive, and we spent many hours mesmerized by the flames. Daily soakings in the hot tub on the deck were a joy.Whether you seek a private vacation destination or a base for exploring Langley, this house is ideal! We stayed four nights and did not want to leave this peaceful haven. We will return!
Terrence B. from Cambridge, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2015 We only stayed for a long weekend, but really enjoyed our time here. It's a short drive to both the Clinton ferry terminal and downtown Langley, but set far back from the main road for privacy. The property is very well maintained. There is another rental property adjacent to this one. No one was there during our stay, but be aware that you may have neighbors very close by.
Extremely poor Cust service and experience from rental company
Greg B. from Seattle, WA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 I was hoping I did not have to write this feedback and asked the rental company to do what was right, but they decided not to. First , the property is very nice - have no issues with the rental. During our stay there was an island wide power outage with no eta to fix. Having lived on an island, I understand this happens and have no issues with power outages. The issue was the home has a well and when the power goes out you lose service for running water. We made the decision to leave the property one day early as we had no running water and could not flush toilets or shower. Our thought was the home owner would not want people using their home without the ability to maintain proper sanitation, nor did we want to stay in a home that didn't have these services. I informed the rental company the following day as to our decision expecting agreement that the right thing to do was not use the property. Their comments/ questions were - "why didn't you call"? I was told no other rentals available days before during the rental process - was confident they had no other property to fit our needs. "This is an act of God and not our fault" - so act of God is the customers fault then. I could list a few others all in the same vein. My issue is the rental company could have made this right - they offered a $100 discount for not being able to use the home one of two days. Their overall concern for proper sanitation ( inability to flush toilets, no running water) was nonexistant - I would think the home owner would not want people staying in their home with these conditions, yet this is what the rental company thought was ok. This is not about money for me, but more about good Cust service and making a decision with overall sanitation in mind. I do not find pleasure in writing feedback like this, but I did want others to understand the overall philosophy of the rental company before they make a decision to rent with this company.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tara Property Management South This was a challenging situation for all of us who experienced the storm. While power outages on Whidbey are not uncommon, they generally happen in the winter, so this early storm was unexpected, especially after having had extreme heat only a few weeks before. We were fortunate to have many customers who were patient and understanding as we ran around trying to expedite repairs, move renters who were without power and provide for basic needs during an event that no one had control over.We thank those renters for their patience and assistance. Because these events do take place, and because they are unpredictable acts of nature, there is a clearly written clause in the contract letting renters know that we cannot be responsible for those events, but will do our utmost to make sure renters are accommodated in available properties. I believe there is an established record of good customer service on the part of our company as attested to by the majority of reviews. This is what we strive for. When a customer is not happy we take it to heart and do our best to make adaptations wherever possible. This was an unusual situation all around. The customer was given a partial credit and had already received a discount. We can only do our best and hope to be met with a reasonable response.
Valerie B. from Redmond, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 We had a wonderful time at this great and peaceful property. The ponds and grounds are amazing, and it was lovely to just sit and relax throughout the weekend. The only downsides were the smell of the water (rotten eggs), and the noise you can hear from any room in the house (open space with no privacy in master bedroom). These were the only reasons for the lower rating. If it was one or two couples, we would definitely stay again. But it's a little overwhelming with a larger family.
WARNING NO PRIVACY: You share this property with strangers
A guest from Seattle, WA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2015 I was so happy to find this property with 5 acres of beautiful gardens for our anniversary. When we arrived we were confused about the other house 10 feet away from the front porch, but assumed it was something they rent out as an extra room for large families. We loved the house and grounds. The view of the ponds and grounds from the master bedroom is so romantic. In the morning, after awakening to the beautiful view from the bedroom, we enjoyed some "private time". Only a minute or 2 afterward, we were horrified to see a woman walking her dog past our bedroom windows. Where did she come from? How long had she been there? WHAT HAD SHE SEEN!?!? I thought we were alone on 5 acres! Throughout the rest of the day, she and her family returned to enjoy what we thought was our private garden for the weekend. Instead of "total privacy from the outside world" as the VBRO ad says, we found ourselves on display in a house with windows everywhere and strangers only 10 feet away. You can't even walk from the bedroom to the bathroom without being visible from the front porch. We went from feeling absolute privacy to feeling exposed and under siege, unsure when the neighbors will be back to look in our windows. Worst of all were the questions of what had she seen that morning? What about the night before? Were they out walking the dog after dark? We wouldn't have been able to see them in the dark from our bedroom, but they would have seen us in the bedroom lit up like a stage show! Our weekend of absolute privacy turned into a nightmare dominated by the question of what the neighbors saw before we knew they were there and hiding from them to maintain our dignity afterward.Later to top off our disappointment we got to smell our neighbor smoking weed, yeah it's legal, but not a pleasant smell if it's not your thing. Finally, the hot tub water was yellow looking and slimy to the touch. On top of everything else I paid a $45 hot tub cleaning fee to get a dirty hot tub.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tara Property Management South Hi Mark,
I am so sorry you had this experience especially at Rhythm Waters which is noted for its private setting. The little Art Box studio has been rented in the past but mostly in conjunction with weddings and events. When the owner decided to rent it out on a more regular basis, is was with the clear understanding that the renters of the studio would stay in the space specified for its guests. We have added additional signs and instructions in our packet so that renters of the studio and clear about the boundaries. Again our apologies that your privacy was not respected.
Will B. from Pasadena, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2015 We had the best honeymoon ever at this house. It was exactly what we were looking for, and could not be a more exceptional property. It is very secluded, and you feel like you are a million miles away from anything (actually downtown Langley is an easy 2 mile walk). We saw deer almost every day, and a baby fawn a couple of times. We really can not say enough about the property. I am already trying to figure out a way to visit again.
Shelby and Mike D. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2015 We recently had a family BBQ at Rhythm Waters and stayed for 4 nights. The accommodations were ample, the property was by far the most beautiful place we could have chosen to spend time with family and friends alike. Our guests raved on and on about how peaceful, gorgeous, and serene the venue was. We plan to make this place a yearly part of our family functions. It is truly Heaven on Earth!
Karen S. from Peckville, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2015 I knew the first time I visited here that I would return. This is the most peaceful place on earth, I love all the nooks and crannies you can escape to right on the property. I've been here three times and will return again!
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2015 My fiancee and I had a relaxing and enjoyable retreat with our dog at this property over President's day weekend. The property is special and has a soulful quality. The house and gardens are fantastic and obviously well-cared for, and the welcome for dogs unmatched. We had the good fortune to meet the owner who was very kind. We bever successfully figured out how to operate the entertainment center, but that was not the primary purpose of our trip and did not disappoint. We plan to return often. Those with mobility limitations should note that the house has one large bedroom on the main floor and a loft with two beds accessed by a narrow spiral staircase.
A guest from Auburn, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2015 We had a great time. Our favorite part was the beautiful, private yard that we spent hours in. Our only issues were the wifi, which the literature said didn't need a password, actually did. The place is beautiful but the living room furniture was extremely uncomfortable, to the point that we piled the couch with blankets and we were still not comfortable. I would gladly go back, for as long as possible, and recommend this property to our friends & family, provided the furniture is replaced.
Cheo C. from Langley, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2014 This house was the perfect retreat for me and my family. Very open, comfortable, and relaxing with the acreage, koi ponds, and hot tub. Exactly what I needed for our stay. I would definitely recommend this house for others!
Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2014 We came here to celebrate our anniversary. After a hectic Summer, I was looking forward to a chance to unwind and relax. We were extremely pleased with house and its breathtaking setting. It is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are very well maintained. I would definitely recommend it. My only quibble is that the walls and trim in the house are a bit worn and could use a little TLC. Also, there is no place to hang wet towels and suits which would have been welcome in a house with a hot tub. Over all a very nice place!
A guest from New York, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2014 We rented Rhythm Waters for a weekend wedding and found it to be a very special experience. The only small change I would recommend is to have clearer signage and lighting for the parking. Otherwise it was excellent as a place to have a quiet retreat for 2 or a wedding for many. The beautiful nooks and crannies and the loving landscaping were amazing.
A guest from Lake Stevens, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2014 This was our first experience at rhythm waters. It is simply an amazing property and we loved every second of it! I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in a beautiful setting.
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in July, 2014 Truly enjoyed our family reunion here. Beautiful and serene escape into the arms of Mother Nature. Well maintained gardens. It was a truly healing experience just walking around in the gardens, watching the koi. Felt so much at peace. Surrounded by trees all around. Good sized hot tub.Well appointed kitchen and grill. The house has all standard amenities. Very beautiful and romantic view from the bedroom. Nice windows all around. The attic upstairs has another 2 beds with a balcony above the bedroom below. From every place in the house you can see lovely green trees. The bathroom could benefit from some attention ( shower door esp) which management was willing to look into. Very responsive and attentive management. Great place for a family getaway,a romantic getaway, also great for parties. Loved our stay here!!
Mitzi M. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2014 The property is a beauty rarely found in rental homes. I would recommend it to anyone, with a few disclaimers. The beds are futons. The rental agreement states that a starter supply of toilet paper will be provided. 2 rolls. However the home is stocked with quite a variety of Kurig pods for your use! I beg the owners to loosen the purse strings on the paper supply's. Honestly, one pod costs more than a roll of paper. Thankfully, we brought our own supply. If the septic system is the reasoning, most people spending 300 a night, should be more respectful. We will highly recommend this lovely jewel, so painstakingly manicured to the height of perfection. Great place for family photos and the fountain at night is a most delightful surprise!
A guest from Issaquah, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2014 Rhythm Waters is a wonderful property with all the amenities you could ask for. The garden, deck, and pond/fountain are so peaceful; we loved listening to the sound of the running water at night. I'm pretty sure our dog loved it too. It's perfect for a romantic getaway for two.
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in January, 2014 I'm hesitant to say anything about this property because I want to keep it a secret! It was incredible and we will definitely be back.
Erin R. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2014 My fiancee and I truly enjoyed our stay here. The grounds are amazing and the heated floors feel nice underfoot in the winter. The hot tub is perfect and easily accessible from the bathroom and downstairs bedroom. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and the loft was a fun little addition. We spent three days watching media, soaking in the tub, cooking good food and enjoying each others company. We will definitely be back. Maybe even to get married! The grounds are big enough to host a small ceremony and reception. In the summer months, it would be truly magical.
Brian O. from Bothell, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2013 Everyting about this home is wonderful. Our two boys had a blast watching the Koi fish everyday and running around the grounds. The hot tub was super fun in the evening, even when it rained. The home is located near town and the BEST playground ever!! Loved it and I'm sure we will stay here again. :)
