Our home in Italy is located in the historical center of the charming village of Monteleone d'Orvieto, a picturesque medieval hamlet bordering Umbria and Tuscany. The old town was established in 900 A.D. as a garrison during the papal wars (which is why it is enclosed in high stone walls). It was the last protection for Orvieto.
It is only 5 minutes away from the A1 motorway and the Fabro railway. At a few kilometres distance, you’ll find the picturesque hamlet of Città della Pieve (Orvieto), famous throughout the world for its monuments and its good wine. The spas of San Casciano dei Bagni and Chianciano are only 20-30 minutes drive and the Perugia is close by as well.
This charming property (Casa Leone means House of the Lion) was completely remodeled in 2004. It is 185 square meters in size (roughly 1850 square feet) and offers 2 en suite bedrooms and baths. The loft provides sleeping for an extra two people.
On the ground floor there is a tavern, a small wine cellar and a storage room. A natural stone staircase leads to the first floor incorporating a large living area with a small balcony where our Italian neighbors nod, smile and try to converse with us in Italian, of course. On the second floor there are a study area, two large and airy bedrooms with two bathrooms.
