Songbird, a darling antique vacation rental cottage nestled on a lovely lot in the heart of Rockport Village makes the perfect vacation home base, and is an easy walk to all of the town?s shops, restaurants, galleries, and two beautiful beaches.
Watch and listen as the lush, verdant lawn comes alive with birds chirping, and bask in the tranquility of this harmonious oasis. Enter into the sun drenched eat-in kitchen (that also has a full sized washer and dryer). The living room, graced with an antique brick fireplace (now home to a modern wood burning stove) with a futon and original wide pine floors, makes for a perfect spot to sit back, read a book, and relax. While there is no TV in the cottage, there is WIFI so you can stream content onto your computer.
Continuing with its vintage vibe, Songbird?s formal dining room has an additional (decorative) fireplace, pine flooring, built-in cabinets, and a lovely antique grandfather clock. The bath, just off the kitchen has recently been updated to modern standards, and boasts a pedestal sink and a tub with shower. Despite these modern upgrades, the home does not lose any of its vintage charm, and flawlessly blends contemporary convenience with an antique appearance.
Upstairs, rest your eyes in either the larger double bedroom, complete with its original slanted roof line, or the adjacent smaller bedroom (accessible via sliding door), which has a single daybed and a trundle bed underneath. Please note, this house is for those who enjoy serenity, quiet, and the beauty of nature, and thus has no television. For our technologically-minded renters, we ask that you do not worry, as Songbird does have WiFi. There is off street parking for up to 4 cars.

Stayed for 3 days in August, 2015 Easy to walk to Bearskin Neck and get around on bikes. Sadly it rained so no beach time. There were fans upstairs in bedroom but it would have been helpful to have some downstairs. Very warm and stuff in first floor.

Stayed for 7 days in July, 2015 This was a spur of the moment vacation getaway for me and I was hoping my daughter. Ended up she could not make it, but I went alone and it was just what I needed! AVH was terrific to deal with- professional, polite, attentive and always there when I called with somewhat "silly" questions ie- how do I get the shower on? Being it was the 4th of July weekend and I was calling a couple of days before, maybe I just lucked out, but Songbird offered the tranquility I needed and yet was just a walk away from the happening of Rockport...the accommodations were perfect for a couple, 2 persons or mom-daughter situation. Clean, pleasant, great reading material- just perfect! Nice backyard to sit in and a great breeze and fan for sleeping! Nice and quiet although my only concern (and it ended up to not be one) was the street location- not a water view by any means and close to the road...ended up to be part of the Songbird experience. Not a problem at all! Can't say enough about AVH and Songbird...

Stayed for 3 days in August, 2013 At the last minute our family decided we wanted to spend a weekend on Cape Ann, we had never been there. I started on a Wednesday trying to find a place, everything was booked! I had all but given up when I received a call from Tiffany from AVH who let me know that the property I had inquired about was also booked, but she had another one we might be interested in. Her initiative and prompt professionalism resulted in a PERFECT weekend at the Songbird Cottage. The cottage is wonderfully appointed, extremely clean and you can't beat the location or the value. We beached at Good Harbour, shopped in Rockport and toured in Glouster. Thank you for a weekend to remember.

Stayed for 13 days in July, 2013 This is a charming little house with a well-equipped kitchen and a great shower. It's a bit farther out of town than we like to be. We ended up sleeping on the pull-out futon in the living room rather than upstairs because there was a strong smokey smell from the fireplace up there and because we wanted to be on the same floor as the bathroom. However, the place was immaculate and the setting is private and very peaceful with a large yard and a good gas grill.
