When researching the word Berkana, I discovered it is a rune believed to have magical powers. The rune Berkana represents everything from birch trees and romance to healing and rebirth. It all seemed a little mysterious to me, but then I visited the property and I have to admit, it became much clearer. This incredible rental property is hidden on 14 acres of magical mountain property. Outside there are woods to explore and places to hike, ponds and streams to reflect by, and even a labyrinth that provides the perfect maze for contemplation and meditation. Extensive decking connects the house to nature in an almost mystical way that brings the outdoors to you. The main house offers an open floor plan with a generous kitchen, ample dining area and comfortable living room that features a large stone fireplace. Enjoy WIFI, cable TV and unlimited long distance. The guest house adds two more bedrooms, another full + half bath, a lovely living space and well-equipped kitchenette. Suddenly Berkana becomes the perfect spot for friends and family to gather. Berkana's charming guest house also offers a flat screen TV, gas fireplace, breakfast nook and more. Please note: the guest house can only be rented in conjunction with the main house. Access to the garage is not included with the rental of one or both. Online pricing for both houses is accurate. Please call or email to reserve Berkana + Guest House.

A guest from Newport News, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2016 2nd year staying at Berkana and the Canaan Valley. Loved it all. Highly recommended. Only one minor critique - the labyrinth is being taken over by nature and unusable.
A guest from Hanover, PA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2014 Home was not what was advertised. Home needs some TLC. Water leaks running down wall in main area and bedroom, no hot tub for our guests at the cottage as advertised, gas grill was completely rotted through in the bottom and not usable, carpet stains throughout. Deck is great, cottage was nice, seemed to be updated and cleaner than main house. We stay in Canaan every year and this was the first house we have had that was a disappointment.
Alice G. from Clarksburg, WV recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2014 This vacation was to celebrate a birthday which we did, but what it ended up being was to unwind and enjoy the beauty of this property. So peaceful and my college aged child thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend, will be back again. The property was in a great location with a awesome deck that is in need of weatherproofing, the beautiful siding doors could not be used due to condition of the screen doors, and one wall in the living room area has issues. The hot tub, (jets worked poorly, but hot and relaxing still) and the firepit outside and the fireplace inside were outstanding. But still the location and the overall condition made it one of the nicest vacations that I have been on.
Chad S. from Huntington, WV recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2014 This is my favorite place to stay when in the area, love the location and everything about the house. I've stayed there 3 years in a row on our yearly ski trip and as long as it's for rent I'll continue to. I highly recommend it for the full "getaway" experience.
A guest from Vienna, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in January, 2014 The icy conditions were very difficult on our cars so in the future please tell the winter renters this property is VERY far from the main road.
