Marseillan 1 br Vacation Rental Apartment

This recently built apartment is situated on the promenade which runs along the Etang du Thau (a large salt-water lake also called Bassin du Thau) and only 200m from the unspoiled old port and 3 kms away fro Mediterranean beaches. The apartment is on the ground floor and there are no steps to climb. It has an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area inside and another on the terrace. Large french windows leads to the gated terrace and garden with BBQ, table and chairs. This is a cosy place to cath some sun, enjoy your morning coffe and a meal with good local wine with a view of the etang. On the courtyard there is a private parking for your car.

There is a double bedroom with storage and a spacious shower room with washing mashine and w.c. The living room has a bed settee and a TV. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, induction hob, oven, fridge freezer, microwave, coffemaker snd a lot of kitchen ustensils. There is aircondition and Wifi internet. The apartment is ideal for a couple but suits also two moore people sleeping on the bed settee.

Marseillan is probable the oldest town of France, settled by the Phoceans in the 6th cBC. You can enjoy the stressless and pittoresque atmosphere when you walk the narrow streets in the old town or stroll around the old unspoiled port. Numerous bars and restaurants are within a walking distance. Thuesday mornings there is a market where you can by local food, dried herbs, clothes and flowers. You can find also fleemarkets in towns nearby. There are a lot of opportunities for activities as biking, sailing, boat trips on the lake or along yhe Canal du Midi, horseriding and watersports.

The Marseillan area
The area around this big salt-water lake is famous for its oyster and mussel beds. The town is surrounded by wineyards and the natural reserve of Bagnas with around 250 species of wild birds and schools of rose flamingous. In the south The Canal du Midi enters into the Etang du Thau and from the apartment you can see the lights from the Phare at the enterpoint. The Neuilly Prat destillery in the harbour of Marseillan offers an interesting visit with winetesting. Within just 10 minutes drive you have many marvellous beaches. There are 12 km of beach between Marseillan Plage and Sète and in Cap d´Agde you will find a rocky black volcanic beach.

Not so far away from Marseillan you will find many historical palces and World Heritage Sites as the Amphitheatre in Nimes, the lovely village St-Guilhem-le-Desert, the fortified city of Carcassonne, the Roman Aqueduct Pont du Gard and the famous Canal du Midi which passes from Toulouse to the Etang du Thau. There are many lovely villages to drive to through landscapes of endless wineyards and pinetree forests. Not so far away from the town you can reach rosemary- and thymescented mountains which in wintertime turn white from snow.
