Vacation Home Rental Description:
The guest house for Family Treasure, Lil Gem is also a great stand alone cottage for a couple or small family. From the front porch enter a charming room with full kitchen, dining space and sleeper sofa. First floor also has powder room and laundry. The second floor has a large bedroom that opens to a veranda that overlooks Childers Lane with views of Lake Kai. Lil Gem is close to the pool, Sand Castle Playground, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts. Sleeps 4 with 1 sleeper sofa and one queen. Plenty of room for a crib or pack n play in the second floor bedroom. No pets. No smoking.

"Lil Gem" needs a Lil work A guest from Elmhurst, IL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 The Beachwalk in itself is a great community with many activties for children and families. The staff was nice and welcoming however our property was not as clean as expected especially considering the cleaning fee. The exterior needs some TLC and a paint job badly. Having said that, the interior appeared to be surfaced clean only with spider webs and even an old diaper under the bed. The couch was stained with bleach marks so we put sheets provided over it. We did get freshly laundered sheets which was a plus. I would have expected more for the $100+ we paid to have it cleaned. Overall, happy with the community but very unhappy with the condition of this home. |

Nice, but not quite what we were looking for Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012 Beachwalk was nice and very close to the lake, it was also very close for a day trip to Chicago. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating! Overall, if your coming with a large group, I think this community would be the perfect place to be able to just hang out and spend time together.On the downside, the options for renting bikes were very limited. The bed in this house was EXTRA firm, great if that's what you like, like sleeping on the floor otherwise! It would be nice to see trash picked up everyday. In the heat of the summer, many of the cans smelled - and with them sitting in front of the house, it didn't look very nice. It would also be great if the put a small coffee shop and/or sundries store on site. |

I have stayed at much nicer properties at beachwalk in past Elizabeth V. from Crest Hill, IL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 We love beachwalk and what it has to offer. We were extremely disappointed that our rental agent double booked our orininal much larger rental property that we requested and our extended family members were split instead amount 3 properties and I'll gem would never have been even a smaller property choice for us. We were stuck with this one. |

The only thing was that when we arrived there were a number of light bulbs out, like 10! Also, there is a hole on the left side of the house (as you face it) where a woodpecker has been pecking. Should be filled to keep him from coming back, very loud! Thanks! |

Three Gals Away for the 4th. A guest from Homewood, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012 Lil Gem is advertised as accommodating 4 people, however, 4 people could not sit at the table at one time for either a meal or a card game. I made a visit to the property prior to my visit, and informed staff of the condition of the upstairs balcony and 2 chairs. Instead of cleaning the whole balcony, the leaves and acorns were pushed from the chairs onto the floor making it dirty rendering the upstairs balcony unusable. Also, if 4 tenants had included 2 couples, 1 couple's privacy would have been compromised by sharing upstairs shower. Viewing TV for more than 1 was difficult due to the positioning of the couch. On the plus side, parking was always available right in front and we found Lil Gem to be otherwise clean and pleasant. |
