More About Forsthaus Knautkleeberg:
The building has had a checkered history.
Initial plans are from 1903; when it was finished is not known. The restaurant’s first owner was Gustav Berger, but until 1958, the owners changed frequently. From 1959 to 1992, the rooms of the inn were used as a school. The last tenants moved out in 1997. Since then, the building stood empty. Only the status as a historic structure prevented a demolition by its then-municipal owner.
In 2005, the new owner began a careful restoration in close collaboration with the Heritage Office. In August 2006, the restaurant "Dimitris" opened and now offers upscale Greek cuisine. At the end of 2006, the last apartments and the impressive staircase were finished.
