Vacation Cottage Rental Description:
In Hawaiian, Kalohe means mischievous, rascal and naughty. Fitting term for these two cottages as their casual decor speaks of the islands and a more playful vacation style. We love these cottages because there is no comparable. Private spaces in two adorable circa 1900 bungalows situated on over 4 expansive joined acres. Check out the views, the pool, the ping pong table game barn, the pool deck, screened porch, extra living space, the amusing decor, the outside deck. The amenity list goes on and on and on. The "Little Swimmers Cottage" is the second cottage which is "child" to the parent main house. Guests in the Little Swimmers cottage enjoy the quaintness of a true Eastern Shore camp with extra privacy from the main house, but with a caveat. The hot water heater is small, the kitchen is basic and any laundry to be done is in the main house. The two cottages rent in tandem, no sharing grounds or amenities with strangers makes for a more relaxing getaway, trust us. Take an island vacation without travelling overseas. Kamp Kolohe is a double bonus, two awesome coastal bungalows for the price of one.

We enjoyed the "Zoo" A guest from Blue Bell, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 Not too many crabs, but plenty of spiders. We especially liked the huge spider we named Charlotte by the pool. The blue tailed skinks were fun to watch, but the dead mouse in the cottage was not. Friendly neighborhood dogs came to visit, too. |

Beautiful, wonderful, but with some irritants... A guest from Arlington, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 Stunningly, there is no internet at this property. We loved the house (actually three separate buildings), which is beautifully decorated, with kitchen and baths fully updated, and spent a wonderful week here, but there were some "quirks" which were a bit irritating. Similar to a previous reviewer, we arrived to a pool full of insects and yard debris - not a big deal, easy to remove... - and an electric light in the pool below the waterline had escaped its housing and protruded into the pool - a frightening sight and potential, but one addressed after two days by the property managers. The room AC units are very loud, but nothing compared to the din (and heat) generated by the industrial-sized icemaker curiously located in the main house's kitchen. There's a very nice dock, but no kayak or other boat. Finally, the property needs some landscaping attention - weeds and overgrowth are nearly out of control. Kamp Kolohay is wonderful - but some more attention to the above details would seem appropriate given its price category. |

House - suggest pool be cleaned, and house sprayed for bugs prior to check-in. Appliances are very loud. Recyling bin or extra garbage container. Perfect Spot for Great Family Fun Reviewed by: M T. recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2012 My family and I have had the pleasure of relaxing at Kamp Kalohe on several occasions. My children, now 15 and 13, love the place. They have a great time recreating on the water, "crabbing" off the dock, swimming in the pool, playing wiffleball and horseshoes. They also love that they can bring friends along and all sleep in the "bunkhouse". My wife and I love the fact that it is only 1.5 hours from DC, but feels like it is 1000 miles away. My wife also enjoys strolling through St. Michaels while I play the terrific Hogs Neck golf course just a few miles down the road. Nightly cookouts and an annual crabfeast are family favorites. Cant say enough good things about Kamp Kalohe. We highly recommend it!! |
