Very disappointed with Napping Turtle Suzanne M. from Richmond, KY does not recommend this property. Stayed for 14 days in January, 2013 House smells like mold and mildew. We bought lysol spray and candles and the smell is still horrible. Doors and knobs do not close or work properly even after maintenance guy came. he also told us the fireplace could not be used. Garage is filthy (where washer/dryer is at),full of stuff and can't put vehicle in there. There were ants in the bed upstairs. Outside furniture dirty and most of it broken. No porch lights on the back. We would have ask to be moved to a different house but my husband was too sick when we first arrived. We are here due to him going to Mayo Clinic. Also the bottom wooden step going to beach is not safe to step on and is ready to break. Termites in house and something else that left bites on me. A big piece of trim wood fell off the wall in the middle of the night. Outside of front of house is all overgrown and branches were scratching on window when it was windy. I think we deserve compensation because of condition of this house. Napping Turtle 3009 S Ponte Vedra, FL Wendell S. from Lakota, IA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2012 PROBLEMS: No phone number readily avail. to call anyone. Doors-very poorly installed--Lockable?? Lites not all operable; exposed wires upstairs--fixed temp.; Bed comforter blood stained--fresh; man came to pick up garbage after dark; water leak under sink; Windows all dirty outside(old); sharp point on handle in tub, dangerous; nails laying in drive way, put on table. We washed all bedding and swept floor prior to leaving not very happy. Will await our full deposit return--we did our part of contract. Napping Turtle -Bolam stay Sept.2012 Shawne B. from Fleming Island, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2012 We had a GREAT time on our vacation this week. That being said, we have stayed in many beach rentals and though this one has great potential, I don't know if I would stay again until some of the problems were addressed. The major issues were:-Boardwalk in need of repair (or replacement) My husband actually stepped through a board and luckily was not hurt. It left a large hole which we had to jump over for two days until maintenance made a temporary repair. It was awkward having maintenance men there on our vacation.-Beachside doors would not lock and actually blew open in heavy winds. It was frustrating that we had to ban opening the upstairs doors and thus could not enjoy using the upper deck. We really only had one access to the beach. One of the doors had major leakage and you could not see through it properly. All the glass outside had NOT been cleaned and I had to clean the glass before we could enjoy the view.-Minor issues were: no replacement trash liners, not enough trash cans in the garage, not enough cleaning supplies on hand. Cutting board looked dirty. -Bar stools were not tall enough to reach the counter and we could have used more than four dining room chairs. Even folding chairs would have helped.-Deck chairs have served their useful life.Hope this review helps you evaluate this property. Not what we expected!!! Larry C. from Macon, GA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2012 How do I start, the good, clean on the inside, good location, great views. The bad, oven was broke, french doors would not lock or stay shut, we had to ties them shut, deck needs alot of repairs and garage cleaned. We called the manager and it took two days to get the oven fixed, no one showed for the doors by the forth day so we told them to forget it. Property was listed for 10 people, but you can only sleep 9, they changed the web site while we were there. We called about all of our concerns right away and it was after we got back before the sales manager called us, they never offered to move us. Worst Beach House We've Ever Rented Renee R. from Jacksonville, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 The condition of the house is awful! We had to set up 3 buckets to catch leaks coming from the molding around the french doors during a rain storm. There is black mold on the molding around the french doors. This explains the musty smell in the house. The smell inside the kitchen cabinets is so bad we had to wash out cups before we used them because they smelled musty inside. The kitchen sink has a leak that has obviously been there for some time. There was a bowl of gross dark water under the pipe to catch the leak. The condition of the house is very deceptive in the online pictures! I would not use this rental company again if this is how they maintain their properties! I was sad of the condition of the property. Hopefully someone fixes the top step of the walkway to the beach. The whole step is off. also alot of the other boards. A box of deck screws and a carpenter for a day would fix 90% of it tho. I'm glad I didnt have little kids or it would have been a big problem. Lights that work on the back of the house work would be nice. Not quartz lights tho.(too bright is bad for the turtles) Just some porch lights. I threw out alot of garbage from past guests and trimmed some of the foliage that was overgrown on the walkways(ahh palmetto attack). Overall It was nice. the other reviews warned about the condition of the deck,but its close to st.aug.and I enjoyed the quiet beach. I work construction so it was hard for me not to fix things. I think someone should take a close look at the place. It makes me sad to see a nice property fall apart slowly. A little love goes a long way. I would prob stay again if these small issues were taken care of. So if you want to see the beach then stay at the turtle. Wash the sheets when you get there tho. Carlos M Muncy, pa. Frustrating beginning, but a wonderful vacation A guest from Missouri City, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 The reservation process and communication went smoothly. Unfortunately, we received mixed instructions regarding the key location, we got lost and the pouring rain did not help. While we were greatly frustrated, Audrey stayed on the phone giving us directions to the property and Chris met us at the house with a key. They were gracious and helpful.The house has lots of deferred maintenance issues, but all the appliances were working, the beds were comfortable and linens were adequate and clean.The property is right on the ocean and was wonderfully convenient for the kids to make their way to the beach, the deck and dock leading to the beach made a great overlook and provided a good place to sit and relax.Overall, thanks to Audrey and Chris at the beginning, it was a very good rental. If you're looking for a private, quality place...this isn't it. KRYSTAL W. from JACKSONVILLE, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2012 The bad: The home has a lot of potential, but it is obvious that the owners have left its care to a busy property mangement group... it is pretty neglected in terms of upkeep (kitchen cabinets waterlogged, peeling paint, two of three sets of french doors on lower floor leak - we didn't experience this, but saw post it notes left either by previous guests or property management), the deck is in very poor condition; rusty, wobbly and splintery. The washer/dryer are rusty and old but seemed to do the trick. The dishes in cabinets were dirty. The quilts/comforters are old and not great quality. Kitchen table is rickety (we put a magazine under a few legs). Nearly 50% of deck furniture is broken. Lightbulbs here and there are out (kitchen and deck). Location-wise, the home is about two houses down from public access entry...we had fisherman set up in front of the house ALL weekend which made it tough to enjoy the beach. Oh, and we found a pair of ladies underwear hanging on the back of the upstairs bathroom door (funny, but gross - and indicative of cleaning crew's attention).The good:The best thing about this property is the beach front location. Plenty of good sized bathroom and beach towels. Sheets and beds were in good condition and comfortable. The rental property team was attentive and professional when we called about the unusable grills (and replaced them pretty quickly). The deck wasn't attended to, but we managed to stay uninjured by just paying attention. Overall, the place was not 'uninhabitable', I'm not picky by any means (especially when it comes to being beachfront) but I wouldn't go again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else (unless rates are lowered - we payed roughly 1300 for this experience - so I'm pretty disappointed). Biggest lesson learned is to visit prior to your stay if you can. The pictures can only show so much.
