Mountain home 27 - a slice of heaven in Cowboy Heaven
A guest from Westlake Village, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in December, 2015 We loved the house, it was beautifully decorated and the views were amazing - especially from the hot tub out on the deck. Having the garage was a great bonus, we never had to clean off our car. It says it's ski in/ski out. It is definitely ski out but was very tricky getting back home. We created our own path to get home. We have stayed at many homes at Moonlight and this one was the most difficult one to ski in. The check-in process was so easy, it was nice being able to go directly to the house.
Reviewed by: Terry S. recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2015 What a spectacular place to spend a few days. The home was luxurious in the extreme with every amenity you could want. The beds were fabulous, the décor tasteful and we couldn't have been happier with our stay.Dean was super-helpful and delivered a number of packages that we had shipped to the unit. The ski in/out was easy and convenient. All in all this was an 11 out of 10!My only suggestion is that the only way of playing audio through the speaker systems in the house, required an iPhone with the old connection. Since everyone in our group used Android or newer iPhones, we were unable to take advantage of the great speakers to fill the home with music after a full day on the slopes. It's an easy fix to run a cable with a 3.5mm audio jack from the amp and it was a minor irritation in an otherwise perfect stay.
A guest from Missoula, MT does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in January, 2015 Overall, we really enjoyed this house. It is very comfy for 6-8 people. It is well appointed and has terrific views. The kitchen is a bit tight, but it has the great strength of having a bath near every bedroom--no sharing! My major complaint is that access to skiing is badly misrepresented. I had a long discussion with the agent for this house, because I wanted to be sure my wife, an intermediate, would not have to walk too far or face major obstacles. I was assured that access to ski runs is close, and there was a notice in the house describing the best way to ski out or in. Skiing home to this house is extremely difficult, even hazardous. One of the recommended routes takes required descending a steep pitch with a rock wall at the bottom. My wife was almost injured in the process. The other recommended route was almost impassable because of snow berms created by snowplows. I am an expert skier, but had a hard time getting through. In the end, we used our car to access easy skiing, despite having paid extra for ski in access.Skiing out in the morning was a bit better, but still requires a long traverse on a rather narrow catwalk--a challenge for intermediates or beginners. It makes for a rough first run. All in all, a nice place for a ski vacation, but you should plan on using your car to get to skiing, and the price should be adjusted accordingly. We were also disappointed that the house had one roll of toilet paper when we arrived, even though TP is supposed to be included. We called the housekeeping number and were promised a delivery. It did not arrive until we called a second time.
A guest from Peru, IN recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2014 The house was not clearly labeled, making it difficult to know if we found the correct house. The description on the website was different than it actually was. With that said, it was a beautiful house and we made it work. When I called and made reservations the person I spoke with insured me there would be lawn chairs on the deck. We called and asked for them several times. Finally the next to last day they said, sorry we don't have any.Black Diamond Rental was VERY HARD to get a hold of. We called attempted to call many times usually only getting voice mail. We loved the house, just were disappointed in the lack of communication. The views were beautiful, it just would have been nice to view it from the deck like most houses around us did. We also left several messages about no dish cloth in the kitchen and got one dropped off the last night there... The street we were on was covered with construction materials, not a very pretty site.
Property Manager Response: Response from Black Diamond Vacation Rentals, LLC Thank you for your review! With the inception of new management and staff, we have updated our website, guest correspondence, and all third party websites to reflect the true location of this home. We sincerely apologize for the lapse in communication during our transition and would like to reassure you, and all of those that rely on guest reviews to book their vacations, that we have since rectified these issues and are on call 24/7 for your convenience. We completely understand that no one wants to deal with construction during their vacation. As Big Sky continues to rapidly develop and expand, it is hard to know when new construction on surrounding homes will begin or existing construction will end. The home in question that is under construction near Mountain Home 27 should be complete in the very near future. Thank you again for your comments and we hope to see you back in Big Sky in the future!

Julie F. from Chester, NJ recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in March, 2013 A few things ....... Built in speakers not working. Wine fridge in kitchen does not work. Needs more drinking glasses in kitchen (only 5 there now). Ski in a bit challenging with the drop off to the road.Incredible view, hot tub perfect after skiing. Had a wonderful week.

A guest from Tuscaloosa, AL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2013 We enjoyed our stay very much and liked the home and location. The only suggestions I would have is some kitchen utensils need to be restocked.

Gary Z. from Austin, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in December, 2012 Great everything!Item of note: If you are looking for (which we were not) a place where you can literally ski out of your front door, this is not it. You have to walk 150 yards to hit a downhill run.
