Fantastic Plus Mara T. from Eugene, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in July, 2014 We had a wonderful time at the Sea Gem. The house was immaculate and comfortable. All our needs were met. Plus the ocean views are stupendous.
Sea Gem Diamond in the Rough A guest from san francisco, California recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in July, 2014 Two families met for a wonderful 5 days in July. The Sea Gem was room enough for 4 adults and 4 kids. The kids really enjoyed the bunk beds The massive lawn in front of the property leading to the Ocean was ideal for kicking balls and running around. The house is set back from the ocean, but has amazing views and once you open the windows you can hear the waves crashing. We will definitely be back to the Sea Gem.
Great location, needs a thorough cleaning. A guest from Roseburg, OR does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 We were very pleased with the location and the lovely view from the living room windows, and the home has a lot of potential. The furnishings are nice enough, and the kitchen is reasonably well stocked. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we felt that we needed to clean things. The dishes had been put away with dried food stuck to them, the area around toilets was unpleasant, and the carpet could use a good deep cleaning. When the first thing you find is dirty dishes, it sets you up to begin noticing more and more things that need cleaning. If someone would come in and clean baseboards, floors, carpets, bedspreads, shelves, etc., the home would have a much more pleasant feel. In reading guestbook comments, it seemed that the house was well liked a few years ago, but recent visitors had similar experiences with housekeeping issues.
You Can't Beat the Sea Gem A guest from Coeur d Alene, Idaho recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in June, 2014 This house was awesome! The view and proximity to the ocean can't be beat. We had my 80 year old parents as well as our grandchild with us, and all ages enjoyed the features of this home. We watched whales, played games on the lawn out front, and walked the trail which runs right out front. We enjoyed walking into Yachats each morning for our morning coffee. The resort that is close by has some of the best seafood on the coast. We will be back!
Please replace the master bedroom mattress in your AWESOME rental A guest from Casper, WY recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in April, 2014 This is a completely awesome house with awesome views and awesome location. However, please replace the master bedroom mattress. I loved staying at your rental and will do so again once that mattress is replaced.
we will be back A guest from BEnd, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in March, 2014 The location was great, the view magnificent. The rental agency was very accommodating. The house was very tastefully decorated, it had a great feel to it. The house wasn't spotless, the kitchen cupboards in particular were not clean, but a simple thing like that didn't change how we felt about the house: terrific!
Sea Gem - Yachats, OR Sheila A. from Helena, MT recommends this property.
Stayed for 6 days in February, 2014 The Sea Gem Cottage was in a wonderful location a great little house with the exception of the kitchen/dining room floor which was filthy. It looked like it had been cleaned with a dirty rag. I purchased a mop and cleaned the floor three times before it was clean. The garbage cans were full and we had to place our garbage on the floor in the garage. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience and we will come back again. Wendy did a great job in helping us.
Sea Gem cleanliness Mary A. from Pullman, WA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in October, 2013 I called the rental company when we arrived, left msg that the kitchen was dirty and one of the venetian blinds was broken. Upon leaving, I text the company about unclean dishes, dirty drawers in kitchen, watered down soap, lack of washcloths, dirt in bathrooms behind doors, mouldings, and filthy furnace vent in the ceiling. The rental is very comfortable, but the uncleanliness made us uneasy about what we could NOT see. I would be very reluctant to pay top dollar for this rental in the summer months, we slid in under the "winter rates", or I would have requested a partial refund; for instance, the cleaning fee. I would be happy to supply the copy of the email sent to ocean odyssey if you wish. Thanks, Mary Albi
A great little house A guest from Eugene, Oregon recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in September, 2013 This house is perfect for a getaway weekend. I've stayed here three times now in many kinds of weather, and the house and it's location was great each time. It's an easy walk south into town or north along the 804 trail to a long expanse of beach. Set back from the rocky outcroppings, the house isn't right on the trail and so has some privacy. Yet the view is stunning. The entire length of the house is picture windows so one always has the ocean vista in sight. The house is updated and well-equipped in all areas. We love this house!
Family Beach Vacation A guest from Winchester, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in September, 2013 Wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful location with ocean view. My favorite spot was the window seat in the entry. I enjoyed the morning light breaking with my cup of coffee. Plenty of room for seven people to spread out.
Great vacation home Marilyn R. from Westminster, CO recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in September, 2013 We really loved this home! It was spacious and well kept. The view of the ocean fom the house was wonderful and made this vacation very relaxing.
Great location but mildewy smell A guest from Eugene, Oregon does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 2 of the group were unable to sleep here because of the mildewy smell. We reported this & hopefully out suppl be taken care of because it's a great house & location!

A Gem of a Stay Melissia B. from Bend, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in August, 2013 This was my second stay at this property, and again my kids, and I had a great time. I have searched many properties that are affordable and on the beach, this one had both. We will definitely be back again next summer.
awesome A guest from Rochester, NY recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 It was everything I expected and more! We had the best vacation ever. The house was wonderful, peaceful, and roomy. Many thanks too for the extra night when I guffed with schedule.
Great spot for a small family or two A guest from Carnation, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 Location cannot be beat and house is cozy and pleasant. House has too many positives to mention but here are some things that could be improved to make it into an A+: We have stayed here a couple of times now and have noticed that wear and tear is starting to take its toll. Had to replace smoke detector batteries to keep them from chirping. Oven door handle fell off as we were using it. Not hard to fix but tricky while hot; needs permanent fix. Kitchen faucet was loose and flooded lower cabinet but we tightened the fitting and sopped up the water. Deck is functional but starting to fall apart at outboard edge. Seagulls are nesting on roof. Cool to watch baby seagulls waddling around but lots of bird poop and seagulls get up early! Master bed is so squeaky we could not use it and slept on the floor. Furnace in garage is against the common wall to the master and can be a little startling when it first starts up but works well nonetheless. None of these items were deal-breakers for us as the house is cozy and the location is great and the management team is pleasant to work with. House just needs someone to pay a little more attention to it.
Property Manager Response: Response from Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals Thank you for the comments. Wanted to let you know that all of the above have been taken care of except the seagulls as that is harder to deal with being right near the water. We hope you will give us a call when you are ready for your next trip to the coast.
