Viechtach is one of the most popular holiday resorts in the Bavarian Forest. Beautifully located in the valley of the "Schwarzer Regen" river, the town is known for its mild spring - and autumn climate, caused by two ridges of the Bavarian Forest in the North and South. Viechtach and its surrounding area are also called "the green heart of the Bavarian Forest".
