Cozy beach retreat without the kids
A guest from Milwaukie, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2016 Overall, very happy with our stay at this property. Comfortable home with amazing views and secluded feel. Excellent beach access too.I few quirky issues; no paper towels was a funny little inconvenience; small charcoal grill only (bring your own briquets & fuel); bed is HIGH (I mean seriously high; I'm 6'1'' and almost needed a running start!), but it's comfortable; Waldport is a funny little town, but we found excellent crabbing in Alsea Bay and a kayak tour at the State of Oregon Natural Area north on 101 at Beaver Creek (near Ona Beach). Nearby Yachats has some excellent dining options.Great weekend overall; perfect for a couple to get away.
Mike O. from Twin Falls, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2016 The house was very cozy and inviting. Couldn't have asked for a better view or place for my wife's 40 birthday. We had such a great time walking the beach every night and watching the sunset. Recommended it to all our friends. Thanks for such a fantastic stay.
Reviewed by: Lisa C. recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2016 Words can not describe how absolutely beautiful this home is...the views..the bottle of wine left for us...the privacy..secluded...the amazing beach..the gorgous home...all I can say is it was magical...cant wait to come back for longer than 2 days
Crystal J. from Banks, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2016 I cannot believe our luck! Reserved this only two weeks ago; searched VRBO for what I wanted in a beach home, in our price range, and the dates I wanted. Only 1 house fit the criteria and it was perfect! Great views from every angle! Bedroom was very comfortable! The only negative was the pull out bed in the living area had only a very thin mattress, would recommend bringing something to lay on top so the springs don't poke.
A guest from Seattle, Washington recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2016 Loved this get-away. Just a few minutes walk from the cabin the rest of our family was using for a rare family get-together, Driftwood Loft was quiet, clean, with stupendous views, even from bed. Wonderful beach.
Patricia C. from RSM, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2016 We found the loft in Seal Rock to be clean and as described. The views from the living/dining area and bedroom were spectacular. Watching the sunset from the deck or inside was also spectacular. My husband captured an early morning rainbow over the beach on my iPhone early one morning. There were several CD's that we really enjoyed. The location was great. It was an easy drive to get to Newport and an equally easy drive south to visit the lighthouse and enjoy fantastic scenery along the way. We are real foodies and there are some great restaurants in the area. It was a great vacation! We highly recommend this property.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks so much for your wonderful review, we hope to see you again soon.
Tyler C. from Buhl, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2016 After searching thru all the rental agencies U was so relieved to come across Bay Rentals. Everything was smooth from the down deposit to check out. The house is so secluded & quiet, all we could hear was the ocean. The views are amazing, and you have the beach all to yourself. We played the games that were in the house during the rain. I opted to sleep on the sofa bed so I could be closer to the water! Super comfy! We cooked our own meals and it was nice to feel so homey. I was so sad to leave and we are looking at dates as to when we can return. Thank you for the memories! :)
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for the positive review. We hope to see you again soon.
A guest from Colville, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2016 A great place to spend any amount of time. We stayed 7 days and enjoyed every minute, hopefully we will be back next year for 2 weeks!!!
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC We sure hope so!!
Craig R. from Springfield, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2015 Great rental for two adults. Perfect amount of space to relax and enjoy the weekend. We felt we had the whole beach to ourselves. Beach access may be difficult for people less athletic.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Driftwood Loft is one of our most popular homes, we are so happy you loved it and hope you will return again soon.
Jason S. from Monroe, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2015 This was our four or fifth visit to driftwood. As usual we enjoyed our stay. However I have to point out that the last few times there have been issues with the amenities. This time the owner came through. The staff at Bayshore where helpful but at first pulled the are you sure the maintenance guy was just there card which I did find slightly insulting. Regardless of that we intend to stay at driftwood in the future.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Sorry, we sure didn't mean to insult you at all. Sometimes I think the staff does try to question how that could happen as we try to hard to please and we always check each house before each guest arrives. We check wifi, TV's, lights, leave heat and lights on for our guests arrival. Then, when we hear right off the bat that there's an issue and we've checked everything it's something we routinely say. We hope you will return again and that there will be no issues. We really appreciate your business and Driftwood Loft is definitely a great home!
Karen C. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2015 We had the most wonderful time at Driftwood Loft! Loved the privacy and quiet. The path to the beach was tricky but charming! The home was beautiful and had a fun beach theme about it. The living room had amazing views of the beach and was well stocked with movies to watch and books to read along with puzzles and games. The bed was very comfortable yet a little high for my short legs but I managed. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware. Loved having a washer and dryer to use! It was so amazing and perfect I hated to leave.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for your wonderful review. We hope you can return soon.
Linda C. from Sherwood Park, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2015 Great place to unwind. The house is secluded but overlooks the beach and has a private path down , so you can walk for miles on the beach. You will never get tired of waking up in the morning and looking at the beach while still in bed!
Jim A. from Palacios, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 21 days in July, 2015 Everything was superb! Our 3 weeks at Driftwood Loft was just what we were looking for. It was our first time on the Oregon coast and the perfect location, but the cottage was exactly right for our needs. Many thanks to the owners and to the agents for a wonderful stay and a wonderful place.
A guest from Helsinki, Finland recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2015 We traveled with a group of three and stayed for two nights. The loft was much more than we expected; clean, good size, amazing views, quiet beach. Everything worked really well. The sofa bed is not in the best condition, you can feel the strings on your back. The actual bed is good. But the place deserves still 5 starts, because everything else was exactly what you want from a place like this.I would recommend the place for a shorter or longer stay when ever you wish for peace and a nice views. I would be so lucky to return my self.
Jason S. from Monroe, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2015 Our stay was as enjoyable as usual,, there were a couple issues that need to be addressed but we are confident that Bayshore will address before our next stay
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC We are hoping you mentioned your needs to the staff, of course we aim to please and will certainly take your suggestions seriously.
Steven S. from Lewiston, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2015 It was very good. I love the location. 2nd time I have stayed in this house and will stay again for sure. Always clean great accommodations. It is almost like a private beach.
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2015 My wife and I recently stayed here for a week. We were amazed at the beautiful views. The house basically faces northwest and almost every view is the coast and the ocean. There is even a big window in the bedroom where one can lay in bed and watch the ocean.House was in great shape and included most modern amenities. The house is in a perfect location. Not only do you have the beach right down the slope but there are dozens of beautiful beaches within an hour drive both north and south of this location. In Newport, about 15 minutes to the north, you will find groceries stores and restaurants. I highly recommend the Saffron Salmon, its pricey but delicious. You will definitely want reservations for the weekends. In Yachats, about 15 minutes to the south, the Drift Inn has great breakfasts and Ona delicious dinners. Both have many gluten free options.
Jason S. from Monroe, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2014 This was our second stay at the loft. This visit was just as comfortable and relaxing as the first we will be back. The addition of wifi and sat tv was a nice upgrade
Ashlee P. from Twin Falls, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2014 The website was easy to use. When I called to ask about the house the people were friendly and very helpful. The house was amazing. A perfect get away from everything. The house was nice and quiet. There was items there that I forgot to bring. It was clean and organized. There was a trail right to the beach and the beach was so nice. My husband and I want to come back to this house again.
A guest from Witchita, KS recommends this property. Stayed for 28 days in August, 2014 Staying at Driftwood Loft and looking North along the beach from your two story vantage point is like being in an exclusive location as you see no other homes and very few people. The beach is always in pristine condition and holds natural treasures that occasionally reveal themselves.
Almost perfect unless you are sensitive to fragrences...
Terry L. from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2014 Perfect place to get away and enjoy a quiet stay with a great view. The only possible improvement would be to avoid the use of an air freshener and switch to unscented detergents for washing the linens. Once we found and unplugged the air freshener we opened all the windows and aired out the house. Then our stay was absolutely fantastic!
Ashley E. from Independence, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 The home and the views are absolutely beautiful. The home is nicely decorated and has all the amenities you will need (including a BBQ and Wi-Fi). Beach access is only a few yards away, but it is a bit of fun adventure to get there. Lots of stairs to the main level of the house may make it unfriendly for individuals with mobility issues and because of all of the windows the home gets very, very warm in the afternoon and most of the windows don't open so you can't really capture any breeze. The sofa couch is very hard to sleep on, so I suggest bringing an air mattress is you have a group of 4. Otherwise this is a great, great place to stay.
Anita V. from Cavan, Ontario recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 We loved this accommodation. It felt very comfortable, roomy, had great views, and had a fun little path to the beach, complete with rope support and a stream to build a bridge over. It felt very private while still being near to everything. And the beach was top notch!
Todd W. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 absolutely a phenomenal place to stay, and just what we wanted. Very secluded, with beautiful views of the ocean and beach. Comfortable kitchen, bedroom, and parking is absolutely no issue. Only downside is the beach access: as other reviewers noted, it's kind of a messy path, down a steep hill, and when we were there was completely overgrown, making passage near-impossible. (Someone needs to get in there with some hedge clippers and open it up some.) And even if you brave the path and push through to the beach, the day we were there it ended in a large, 20 foot wide and several feet deep puddle on the beach, which was not breachable. So we didn't go on the beach from the cabin. But there are many great beaches within driving distance, including one of my new favorites: Seal Rock, a mere few minutes away. Newport's a quick 10-15 minute drive north, and if any supplies are needed, is readily available.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for the review, we will speak to the owner about improving the path. Thanks for the great review, hope you can come back soon.
Jason R. from Merlin, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2014 We were looking for a private spot on the beach for a great price. We researched allot of properties and decided on this one. It was perfect, perfect, perfect. Already planning our next visit. Thanks The Romero Family
Paul M. from Lebanon, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2014 It was a wonderful house, great view, great beach access. We had a great 40th wedding anniversary stay. We'd do it again in a heartbeat.
A guest from Shelton, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2014 Very clean, staff helpful. Need to be somewhat agile to get to the beach (walk around pond at the base of the convenient beach access trail).
Colleen D. from Broken Arrow, OK recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2013 I was hoping for a quiet, secluded stay with sandy beach access. It was everything I was afraid to expect and more. Could've stayed much longer. Perfect location, nicely furnished, very comfortable bed. Couldn't have asked for more.
Frank S. from Witchita, KS recommends this property. Stayed for 28 days in August, 2013 This was our second year staying at the loft and our eight year staying in that specific area. One could conclude that we are extremely pleased with the loft and it is our home away from home.
A guest from Nampa, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2013 For the first time visit to the coast for our Anniversary and only being able to see pictures on line. we were over the top satisfied with our stay at the Loft!!!! The trail to the beach is like going on an adventure. We called last minute on our last night to see if we could extend our stay we were having such a great time. It was nice having a washer / Dryer on site to be able to keep up with dirty laundry. Thanks again for a great experience.
A guest from Mead, Washington recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2013 My wife and I rented for our honeymoon. It was perfect for two people and the location was great. Close enough to Newport, Seal Rock, and Waldport, but enough distance that the beach was really quiet.
A guest from Calgary, Alberta recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 Lovely view from the house, convenient location to get to great restaurants and things to do. This rental property felt like home. Thoughtful amenities, good layout, perfect for a couple seeking quiet, romantic ocean walks and some spectacular sight-seeing. Regarding access to the beach, this might be difficult for someone with mobility issues. The living area is up a flight of stairs, and the beach is a short but steep (and potentially slippery) walk. We are fit and fearless, but we had to hang on to the rope to get up & down the path to the beach. Once there, totally worth the effort. We still absolutely recommend this rental, just a note of caution for those with limitations. We are so appreciative for the use of this beautiful property. I can't express how very much we needed to decompress after an extremely stressful and difficult several months, and this was the place that made that decompression happen. We returned home re-energized and ready for what lies ahead. Highly recommended!!!
A guest from Fort Lupton, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 We really loved our stay at the Driftwood Loft. Perfect location not far from local touring. The view was spectacular! Our kids loved playing on the beach. We will not hesitate to rent at this location again.
A guest from Nampa, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2013 Our stay at the "Driftwood Loft" was so perfect. we stayed for 7 wonderful days. As you turned off the highway into the tree lined driveway, it was like entering a different world. As the tree's ended it went up a slight slope to open up to the vast ocean and there sat the house. Awesome view and everything you could possibly need to some much needed r & r. We look forward to a visit again in the near future.
Robert F. from Sarasota, Fl. recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2013 I look for a wow factor on my vacation stays. This had it. I was expecting a good view, but upon arriving at property over the small hill and driveway, the view of the ocean was stunning. Comfortable bed. Amply supplied. Can't tell U.S. 101 is so close, nice seclusion yet close driving distance to great restaurants. The beach is right there, and take the walk to Seal Rock Cove. Can't say enough positives about the place. If you want quiet and beach access, this is the place.
Marla C. from Austin, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2013 Such a great experience at the Driftwood Loft--the privacy, the location, the overall comfort, the view. Everything was top-notch. We were blessed with spectacular weather while we were there, along with a full moon, so the place was just magical. Would return in a heartbeat.
Wendell B. from Lehi, Utah recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2013 This was just what we were looking for; just the right size for two, very quiet, steps from the beach, and the view from the house and deck were perfect. We hope to return.
A guest from Canby, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2013 Our plans changed at the last minute due to a family death the day before we were scheduled to arrive. The staff was wonderful to help accomodate our vacation time. Arriving a few days late, the home was clean, well furnished, and such a healing place to sit in the living room with so many windows displaying the expanse of beach below. We were so grateful for the cooperation of the staff and for the seclusion of the home. It is definitely a place to return to!
Teresa H. from Snohomish, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013 This was our 3rd time at the Driftwood Loft. I almost hate to review it because it is such a hidden gem. Spotlessly clean, private and quiet with amazing views and right on the beach. We walked about 2 miles north to some big rocks with interesting tide pools. Some cool hanging sculptures in the kitchen and bedroom add interest. We were fortunate to have sunny weather and could see forever - whales spouting far out in the distance. The home is equipped nicely and we wanted for nothing. A small gas fireplace adds amibiance on a cool spring evening. Just a short drive north to Newport and the Rogue Brewery on the historical waterfront. Or south to Waldport. Fully enjoy this place and we will return.
A guest from Boise, Idhao recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2012 The Driftwood Loft was very much as advertised on line, and fit our needs exactly. We enjoyed the privacy and beach access and the terrific view. Everything we needed was there at the house, all in good order. We will definitely stay at the Driftwood Loft again!
A guest from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2012 The property is located at the end of a road and other traffic is non-existent. The feeling of privacy was tremendous. The home was very clean and well taken care of. The views from all the living area windows and the bedroom were stunning! The beach was about 25 yards down a small path (a little too narrow for a double stroller) and you are on miles of sandy beach that was never crowded. Our family was very impressed by the property and plan to stay again.
A guest from Houston, Texas recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012 This house was about everything you could ask for. The location is amazing! The beach was beautiful and mostly empty of other people. The house was very comfortable with one minor exception and that is ventilation. I'm sure in colder months this isn't an issue, but it would have been nice to have a few more windows we could open to cool things off and allow the breeze off the ocean, as well as the sound of the crashing waves, to come into the house. I think it is also worth a mention in the information about the house that there is a homemade child gate available fitted to the top of the stairs. We were happy to discover this on our own and that allowed us some peace of mind with our two year old running around the house. Those very minor issues aside, this loft is really a minor little paradise. Our only real regret is that we couldn't stay longer (a month would be nice).
Steven and Lucy S. from GAINESVILLE, texas recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 Bayshore was very helpful and always replied promptly with answers. The property could not have been better. It was so refreshing to see a vacation home appointed tastefully without seashell overkill. The only think we longed for was a dog!
Tiffany M. from Paul, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2012 We stayed 6 days in Driftwood Loft. Absolutely wonderful! The house is quiet, secluded and private. The beach is just a few steps away, and the views from the house are beautiful. The house is comfortable and relaxing. Walked on the beach every day and there were very few other people, most were off in the distance. Such a wonderful stay - did not want to leave! Can't wait to come back.
Reviewed by: Thane L. recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2012 We enjoyed the Driftwood Loft, and being able to see the ocean from nearly every window. It was really neat to wake up and be looking out over the sea!! We just wish the front window would have opened so we could have heard the sea, as well. We enjoyed watching seals play in the surf, and saw a grey whale right in front of the house, just before sunset, the last night we were there. The sea was dancing in gold, with a deep aquamarine horizon, just as the whale surfaced...awesome sight! Unfortunately, we did experience a lot of fog nearly every day of our stay, but went just a little north or south, and we were in sunshine. We had several restful night's sleep, enjoying the quiet and privacy of the loft. Each morning, we woke to the sound of birds singing. We enjoyed several walks on the beach, and found a few beautiful agates. The tide pools at Seal Rock were well worth getting up at the break of dawn one morning to experience and explore. One of the main suggestions would be for a little step stool, as one of us is height challenged and had a difficult time getting in the very tall bed. Overall, very satisfied with our stay. Very restful time while at the loft.
Joel H. from Eugene, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2012 This is the perfect spot to get away. I love the secluded location; you feel completely surrounded by nature. All you have to do is show up and start relaxing. Excellent experience.
Joshua P. from Boring, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012 What an incredible expierience to awaken to the sound and sight of the ocean right there :) they need more opening windows though.
Mostly good with a few weird surprises that colored our stay
A guest from Salem, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2012 We appreciated the professionalism of Bayshore Rentals & the general condition & location of the property. Also the cleanliness. Pretty views, including from the bed, & fairly comfortable overall with nice decorating touches. The owners have done a nice job w/ a property that is a little odd (primary view faces north to the ocean rather than directly west, for example, and there are a couple of very large concrete pads that take away from the grass & dune-like natural surroundings; also very few windows that open or can be used-- one in the bedroom, two in the kitchen, one tiny window facing west that was not working, though there is a screen door facing west through which you can catch an ocean breeze). The bed was uncomfortably high for both of us, enough that I had to see a chiropractor when I distended my back/hip getting into it (I am a normal, healthy 5'4" 52-yr-old woman; my husband is 5'10"). Most bizarrely, there were occasional "worms w/legs" in freaky places (3), like the silverware drawer & crawling on the tile floors in the living areas when least expected. While these are odd circumstances that might not repeat themselves or bother other people, they colored my experience & outweighed the benefits of this property enough that we would probably not rent it again or recommend it to someone we know. Happy w/ Bayshore Rentals in general, though. My husband liked this property more than I did, but then he isn't the one who had to go to the chiropractor or reached in a drawer for a spoon to stir some coffee & found a worm stuck on the end of it.
Paul S. from Claremont, Ca. recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2011 Here for personal matters, so did not have time to enjoy the beach this time. The veiws in the morning and evening though brought relaxation to the trip.
Dorinda N. from Victoria, Texas recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2011 The view from this house was picture perfect and the sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep each night. Except for passing about 6 people, we had the entire beach to ourselves. The house itself was immaculate and very tastfully furnished. The downside was that we had reservations for only two nights instead of an entire week. I would love to visit her again.
Lara M. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2011 We had a wonderful time - it was just what we needed: solitude; quiet; long hours spent on the beach playing, reading and running- we even ran 2 miles up the beach to observe the sea creatures at low tide. The views from the clean, open, light loft house were beautiful - some lovely sunsets. Especially loved being right on the beach to hear the sound of the surf and to spontaneously go to the beach without a lot of prep time. We had everything we needed and would've stayed longer if we could have. Thanks for the wine and cashews and for sharing your place.
Sarah H. from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2011 Property is very quiet and off the beaten path. There is access to the beach by way of a short hike. House was warm and clean. The two nights we were there were not long enough, felt like we just started to relax and had to pack for home.
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2011 This was the perfect destination for our 1st year anniversary. The pictures for this location do not convey how beautiful it really is. I recommend walking up the beach (north about 2 mi) to also enjoy the tide pools.
A guest from Denver, Colorado recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2011 Great Location. Delightful Stay. House comfotable and cozy with magnificent view. It would be nice if you have an up to date television (flat screen). Also adequate paper supplies were not available. Internet was not available. That's silly these days since it's readily available everywhere and probably a good idea as part of the rental. Thanks for the great stay.
Ashley H. from West Roxbury, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in June, 2011 I was very pleased with the house we stayed at. The house was immaculate and very convenient. The beach access was convenient as well. Wonderful stay and very comfortable. Loved it!
Rebekah M. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2010 This is a great little house. The most amazing thing about this property is the view and location. It is very secluded and private. Not a hint of traffic noise from Hwy 101 because it is very far off the highway. Private beach access and the stretch of beach that it is on is so beautiful. We stayed at the busiest time of year on the Oregon Coast, but this part of the beach was not very busy. Really great place to stay and perfect for couples who want a romantic getaway.
A guest from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2010 Location, location, location....well off 101, so there's not a hint of traffic noise...a beautiful 180 deg. view of the shore...next to a lightly-used state park, so no neighbors to the north, and little foot traffic on the beach. Amenities all new, well-laid out. It really is idyllic.....we'll be back!
