A Warm and Inviting Place to Stay
Bradley M. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2016 The home has a vaulted ceiling encompassing the entire main floor. Large windows all across the west side of the house. A large, well-appointed kitchen and living room, as well as a second during room in the lower level gives plenty of room for the entire family to spread out. This is a favorite place for us to stay in the Waldport area.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks!
Comfortable home close to beach, could use updates
A guest from Olympia, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2016 We have been to Kris' Cottage many times. The location is great...close to the beach, in a great neighborhood, and wonderful views. The only drawback is that the carpet is very old and you can tell many a dog have had accidents in there. There is a strong urine/musty smell that could be completely cured by different flooring. No updates to this home but it is comfortable and as stated earlier, great location. The price is very affordable. Unsure if we will stay there again unless the flooring issue is taken care of.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for being so honest with your review. The owner is looking into new flooring, possibly this winter. It's so difficult when dogs are allowed and many owners do not take responsibility for their pets. This is a problem in all of our homes, it's nice of our owners to allow dogs, but it's also difficult to continue to offer that amenity when the carpets get ruined, not to mention scratches on doors and hair on furniture. It's a constant problem. This owner has considered not allowing pets just because it is expensive to continue to upgrade furnishings and have them be destroyed.
Diane M. from Boise, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in July, 2016 This was the best vacation EVER!!! The house was roomy and comfortable. The view was not very good but the short walk to the beach made up for it. If you cut the neighbors tree in the back yard (to the North) out, there would be a perfect view of the ocean for them and for the renters of Kris' cottage. Also, the tree growing beside the deck on the south side of the deck is a tripping hazard. My daughter tripped and hit her head on the deck when she fell requiring 6 staples in her head. Other that those two things, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cant wait to return. The people at the property management office were warm and friendly. You all deserve a raise!!!! Thanks again.
Kristin W. from West Linn, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2016 On short notice we booked Kris' cottage for 3 nights as we had family visiting from Texas. The space of the house was great for the 8 of us and everyone had a bed! The house is well appointed with all the needs of a well stocked kitchen there for your use. The view of the ocean is blocked by the home in front but with the windows open you can get a lovely breeze and hear the waves. The beach access is a really short walk around the corner and actually a great location from the home. Two minute walk and you are there! Beach is very private. When you return the front porch has a hose ready to rinse any sand away before going inside and we hung our towels on the railings to dry out. There is a nice laundry room too if you need to wash anything. The home is older but we found it to be comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed wood fires in the evening when it was chilly. I would stay again as the price was really fair. The ladies (Susan and Barbara) were extremely nice and accommodating to our needs...lovely people.
A guest from BAKER CITY, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2016 Overall it was a decent home and it was right next to the Courtyard home we rented 2 years ago! Since then that home has been sold but we were ecstatic as we were familiar with the area. The ventilation in the upstairs bathroom is very poor, felt like I needed another shower after I got out. There were a couple of housekeeping issues upon our arrival that I informed the property management of. I wouldn't rent this house again because of these issues and will find another property to rent in the future.
Melissa E. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2015 The house was very roomy for the 7 of us. We had everything that we needed for an enjoyable stay. View isn't great, but I already knew that from the description. I've stayed with Bayshore now countless times, and as always they are great to work with, especially Lori.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for the nice recommendations. Your assessment of Lori is correct, she's a great employee! So happy you enjoyed your stay, hope to see you again soon.
Bradley M. from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2015 The entire main floor is brightened by vault ceilings with windows on the vault top, and the ocean side windows go across the entire living room / dining / kitchen area. The walls and ceilings are a warm, light colored wood, there are wood stoves on both levels, and a wrap around porch on the ocean side. A lovely house with plenty of room and privacy for our family members.
Reviewed by: David J. recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 I came here with friends for a fun filled weekend. This place more than met my expectations. I gage any place I stay by for criteria; location, price, quality, and amenities. Waldport is a quaint little town by the sea, and the beach house is in a great spot. The price was cheaper than two rooms for two nights in an average motel. The amenities were great with an optional inexpensive pass to the neighborhood clubhouse for tennis and swimming. The quality was right in line with what you would expect for a vacation home. All in all, this is a great place to stay and an awesome value.
Lori G. from Snohomish, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2015 We had a great time at Kris' Cottage. This is our third trip to this house and we enjoy it every time. It is very dog friendly, and located about a block from the beach. Great family getaway spot! Very affordable!
Amy R. from eugene, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 Overall, this is a great house to stay in! Loved the separation of space (2 living areas, one bedroom upstairs and two downstairs). Easy two block walk to the beach access spot. Usually AC is not needed at the Oregon Coast, but this trip was unusually warm (70s!) and the house got very warm! We just kept the windows open, but it's something to note. The kitchen had most of the necessities, though could stand some upgrades in the utensils and pans. We would plan to stay here again :)
A guest from CORVALLIS, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 This was the last place available for my big family for these dates. It worked out well, but felt a bit crowded. Kris Cottage in a good location, but the house in front basically blocks the view of the ocean. Nevertheless, the deck is a great place to sit and watch the setting sun. The space is inside is comfortable, nice couches and chairs, large dining table. The beds could use some foam toppers. They are very firm and we had sore shoulders and necks after 3 nights. Some larger, firmer pillows would also help. The kitchen is pretty well supplied, but it would be nice to have paper towels provided. This also helps prevent people from using the towels to clean things--like the BBQ which we are asked to clean upon leaving. The garage space needs to be tidied up. There were about 4 kites all wound into one knot :). The bathrooms were clean, but we expected bar soap to be provided.
Ruth P. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 We had a good stay. The house was close to the beach. It was clean and in good shape. The vacation rental management staff was helpful.
Barbara R. from Modesto, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2015 We love Bayshore Rentals! Have been enjoying the Central Oregon Coast for years, thanks to their friendly and helpful staff, excellent service and lovely vacation homes. Our favorite home to rent is the Dowd House, but Kris's Cottage was lovely too. It's proximity to the beach was perfect. It was clean and tidy and had everything we needed to feel right at home. Thank you Bayshore Rentals for another wonderful experience on the Oregon coast! It was a pet friendly home and though we didn't have a dog with us, we did notice one small flea- but only one time. :o) Just thought you might want to know that. All in all, we had a delightful time and can't wait to come back again. Thank you!
Elizabeth K. from Missoula, MT recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2015 wide open floor plan for games, cooking, puzzles a block from huge beach to play on..located near great hiking and sea lion caves, seafood etc. fun memories were made!
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for the positive review. We hope you will return again soon.
A guest from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2015 From start to finish...easy! I researched the Website, found a couple of homes that would 'fit' our needs, contacted the staff who's input was very valuable to my final decision. The home was what I expected and we had a great time! We hope to return soon and try-out more homes. Thanks!
A guest from Kent, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2014 The house was homey and perfect for our family. Kids downstairs us upstairs. Close enough to the beach and very comfortable!
A guest from Ashland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2014 This house of a perfect setup for three couples, and two babies. The main floor has the master bedroom, kitchen, living room and bath. Downstairs are two more bedrooms, bath, laundry room and den. For us it was perfect, plenty of room for everybody and enough separation to have some privacy. The kitchen was well stocked and spacious enough for two or three people to work in. Nice and clean too. It's on a quiet street a short walk to a nice beach. We would definitely stay here again.
A guest from Eugene, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2014 The house has a great lay out, lots of windows and large deck with ocean view. There was a very strong odor entering the house, we opened all the windows upstairs to try to air it out. The stair case smelled of cat spray and the downstairs was really musty. We thought that maybe it had flooded there at some time, the carpet felt moist. The carpets definetly need to be replaced. The house was clean it just smelled terrible.
Chandra P. from Madras, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2013 Having the two stories was perfect to give everyone a little room. We felt so lucky to find a home that allowed us to bring our kids, dogs, and was so close to a beautiful beach.
Susan H. from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2013 the cottage was clean and easy to feel comfortable in as soon as you walked in. we all loved it. it was the second time we had spent a weekend in the cottage. We look forward to coming back next year.
Great house, well maintained, clean, good location, limited view
todd d. from Silverton, oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 Great house, well maintained and clean, good location, but the view of the ocean is limited and you look into the neigbors back yard.
Ruth P. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013 We had a wonderful weekend at Kris' Cottage again this year. My husband thought it was the best birthday he has had for several years. The weather was excellent and the location is great. My daughter and her husband and their two dogs really love it and want to do it every year! She even said we should have more family traditions like this one! We especially like Waldport since it is centrally located between Newport and Seal Rock, (for tidepools and birds) and Cape Perpetua. The cottage is so close to the beach that it is easy to take walks over there in the morning and evening. My daughter and her husband love doing the puzzles! Thanks for a wonderful time!
Lorne S. from Salem, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013 From the spacious master bedroom to the large dining and livingroom, this home was designed to give the visitor a wonderful family getaway. The location is a bonus for beach walking, close to many places to see and things to do. Friendly people, great location, I would definitely reccomend it!
William J. from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2013 We have stayed here before, so we knew what to expect. Even the weather cooperated. Waldport is always our number one beach destination.
Karen C. from Lebanon, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2013 We loved the property and really felt the love that the home has held. Everything was wonderful, and we appreciated the use of your family home.
A guest from Philomath, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013 This house was perfect for 2 families to enjoy a weekend at the coast. Downstairs area for the kids to play, big kitchen, big dinning table and lot of upstairs windows. A couple blocks down to the beach, and if you get lucky (like we did) you can have a warm day at the beach.
A guest from Lake Oswego, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2013 This was the perfect spot for my family. I chose this rental because it was pet friendly, affordable, and close to the beach. It was very clean and there was no evidence of previous canine guests.
Kathy S. from Klamath, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2013 This was a fun trip. Loved staying at the property was clean as usual. Scary lady driving around the neighbor hood flipping people off. A bit scary that we got a phone call about someone finding a hunting knife under one of the beds. Unsettling a bit
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Some guests bring some pretty unsettling things into our vacation homes. We assumed it was someone in your party since we found the knife after your departure. We were not accusing you, we just thought it must belong to someone in your group. It's been safely disposed of.
Norm M. from Salem, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2012 This was our second stay at Kris' Cottage and hopefully not our last. The open layout of the house, makes for a nice family experience. We kept a puzzle going on the dining room table, in between walks on the beach and cooking together. Thanks for opening your home to vacationers and using a great management company.
A guest from Springfield, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2012 It was a great holiday rental experience. The only thing that was difficult was the house was a little hard to find. (there wasn't a house number and the directions said turn left when it should have been right)
Carol C. from Fair Oaks, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2012 Really nice place, close to the beach, close to town. Very quiet location. Nice open interior, great kitchen. Thanks for sharing your lovely house.
The house was relatively fun to visit in, but hard to sleep in..
Reviewed by: A guest does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2012 Master bedroom nice, terrible hard bed. Other rooms were down stairs and freezing, took a while to heat up, and had a moldy smell from the wall heaters..The queen bed was super uncomfortable, my wife had to sleep on the couch upstairs. So pretty much bad sleep, bad vactation. Good group of people though. Will not be back to that location again. House was not very clean at all.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC We are so sorry you had a very bad experience and we will forward your comments to the owners. Beds are pretty subjective, however, and the king bed in the upstairs master is relatively new (2-3 years old) and so are the twins in the lower level. We have refunded your cleaning fee and will speak with the cleaner responsible. We really apologize and hope you will return to another home and give us a second try.
Daryl K. from Medford, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2012 Kris's Cottage is a wonderful home to stay in because it easily sleeps and seats 8 It's proximity to the beach is great, as are two full baths and laundry facilities. Also, dogs are allowed. I would definitely stay there again. The only thing I could comment negatively on is that the cedar walls need to be vacuumed of cob webs, especially above the master bed. But I wasn't there to stare at the walls so all is A+ with me.
Tatyana K. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 it is big house, but need some remodeling, window hard to open and close, locker doesnt work in restrooms .....
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC We are working on thiese issues with the owner. The windows do need replacing and we have repaird the locks on the bathroom doors. It is an older home that does need updates.
A guest from Boise, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in July, 2012 Our vacation rental was all we hoped for...a place where we could enjoy our married kids and the grandchildren in a neutral setting. The home was lovely and comfortable for all. Oh, and the warm sunshine almost every day was an added bonus!
A guest from Aberdeen, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 18 days in July, 2012 Everything our family needed. Everything for a relaxed coastal visit worked for us- even the cool overcast mornings!
Ruth P. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2012 We had a great time. The cottage was in a good location and had everything we could ask for. The weather was good. We would like to come again next year.
Chrisann O. from Bend, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 This was the 2nd time we stayed in Kris's Cottage and the 3rd time renting from Bayshore rentals. The houses are well stocked and maintained and the staff have always been very pleasant to work with. We'll be back :-)
Beth J. from Albany, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2011 We have stayed Kris 3 times now and other Batshore homes. But this one is the best by far. The kitchen is "really" stocked which some say they are and then you need something. We will probably just rent Kris from now on. Thank you!
Leah H. from Philomath, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2011 My family flew in from across the country (So Cal, Indiana, and Wisconsin) to celebrate an early Christmas. We were thrilled to find the house so warm and cozy! The house is bigger than expected based on the pics from the website, so we all had plenty of space- there weren't even any fights over bathroom access! Truly a Christmas miracle. ;) We will definitely stay at Kris' Cottage again!!!
Heidi S. from Seal Rock, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2011 We had a super time and intend to book Kris' Cottage again in the future. Was with friends from out of town and they remarked that they would also rent Kris' Cottage when making a visit to the coast.
Dave C. from La Grande, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in October, 2011 I am writing this in place of my husband who gets on the computer every so often, while I get on every day. Every Oct. we go to Alsea Bay for a week of crabbing. We always stay in our favorite rental home. We love that home. For a week we take our boat out in the bay and crab. This year we had time to pull the boat and go to the Siletz river for salmon fishing. In the evening we get the crab pot boiling and cook crab, with all the guests setting in lawn chairs visiting while the crab cook. We have the most wonderful crab feeds. In addition, I go for walks on the beach looking for sand dollars, read, and of course shop. This year we shared the most beautiful sunsets with all who were on the coast. Streaks of pink and brilliant gold painted the sky. I watched the sun melt into the ocean. It truely makes one appreciate Gods work. We usually eat one or two dinners at the Salty Dawg which serves some great sea food. A margarita goes well with seafood. Some of our best memories come from these annual trips to Waldport. The week goes way too fast, but we will always look forward to that next trip. God Bless our beautiful Oregon Coast and our U.S.A.
Chrisann O. from Bend, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2011 This was the 2nd time we have stayed in Waldport and rented from Bayshore Rentals, very pleased both times. The propertys are kept very clean and are very well stocked with everything you would possibly need. I was very surprised how close Kris's cottage was to beach access. Thank you to the owners for sharing their home.
Heidi J. from Adair Village, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2011 This is a home away from home. We have stayed a many of times and still love it. It is a great location and lots of room to have a great time in.
A guest from Corvallis, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2011 This was a great house for my classmates and I to get away for a weekend. My family has rented several Bayshore properties in the past, and this house had one of the best stocked kitchens I've seen. Our one suggestion would be a different location for the television upstair as you can really only see it from a couple spots on the couch, though the architecture doesn't really lend itself to this. We also had trouble trying to get the VCR to work. We aren't sure all the necessary cables were present, but this might have been our own ignorance. Directions on switching from DVD to VCR would be helpful since there was a pretty good collection of VHS tapes we would have enjoyed watching. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this house to others.
Steve K. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2011 We've been coming to Waldport for years and we always stay at a Bayshore property. Bayshore is very helpful and friendly, and the rental fees are very reasonable. We will continue to come to Bayshore in the years to come!
Norm M. from Salem, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2010 The six of us (plus our 2 dogs) enjoyed the light filled open floor plan. It was great for enjoying each others company, while cooking, playing games and watching football.
BETH J. from Albany, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2010 There were 3 kids 4 adults and 2 dogs and the house was big enough for all of us. We had a really good time. And yes the kitchen is "fully" stocked. We did not want for anything. Thank you!! We will be back.
Frances O. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2010 We enjoy our stays at Kris's Cottage. Although it is not a new house, it has a very homelike feeling. It is clearly cherished by it's owners and we are grateful that it is available as a rental. It works well for our extended family with plenty of room for kids.
Dave C. from La Grande, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2010 We always stay in Kris's Cottage in Waldport. We are allowed to have the two small dogs which helps us tremendously as this is the town we love to stay for our annual crabbing vacation. Lots of room in this home and it is cozy and inviting. We always come back to her lovely home.
Clare O. from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2010 Our family had a great time at Kris' Cottage, our whole trip we kept commenting on what a perfect house it was for our vacation. Just a short walk to the beach, a nice wrap around back deck, plenty of games, puzzles and movies for the rainy days. And the woodstove was perfect. No complaints at all! Thanks so much!
James C. from Meridian, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2010 kris' Cottage was great--close to the beach and with plenty of room for the kids. When their energy level was just a little too high, we sent them downstairs and relaxed by ourselves for a while.
Frances O. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2010 We stayed at Kris's Cottage early this summer and told the office that the dishwasher soap dispenser did not open during the cycle. It was in the same condition when we returned in August. Since no soap was dispensed, the dishes on the shelves were not entirely clean. On our last day the dishwasher did not work at all. This needs to be taken care of. Two other items: the fan over the stove doesn't work and the hanging lamp (ceramic pots?)in the corner of the living room needs bulbs. Otherwise, this house is great for families and we would rent it again providing the dishwasher is repaired.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC The dishwasher is fixed, we apologize for the inconvenience, we had it repaired in June after your first visit, but then something else went wrong and it required more repairs. Fan over the stove has been replaced and the new bulbs are installed in the hanging lamp. Come back!!!
Jackie K. from Salem, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2010 We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent there. We had all 4 grandkids with us and there was plenty of room for everyone. One night we saw fireworks diaplay from the front deck and the next day we saw a fireworks display from the back deck. thank you so much and would love to come back some time.
A guest from Bend, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2010 We stayed for 2 nights at Kris' cottage. It was a wonderful stay. The house had plenty of room for my husband, our 6 kids, and me. The beach is so close that you can hear the ocean alll of the time. The views were peak-a-boo, but enough to be enticing. We will be back for sure.
