Frequent Maui visitor, first time renter
A guest from Staten Island, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 24 days in April, 2016 I have always stayed with family in Maui. This is the first time I needed to rent and my first time staying in Kihei.Chose the Unit for location and it was perfect, easy access to all parts of Maui.Unit was just fine. Comfortable bed, good quality linens, good shower and many kitchen appliances. It was clean and well stocked and I appreciated the starter pack for basic supplies.Got very good feeling about the owner from the books and prints so it made us respect the home even more.1 thing to improve. The TV is poor quality. Watching in Maui is not a priority, but my husband wanted to see the basketball games.
Danielle A. from Chino Hills, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2016 I absolutely loved this condo! It's in the perfect location in Kihei on the south side of the island. We found it to be quiet and very comfortable. The kitchen provided us with plenty of space for cooking to save some money as well! Definitely will stay again!
Sylvie S. from Quebec, Quebec recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in January, 2016 Great location if you want to traval all around the island. Quiet place, among the local people, nice beech near by, nice sunset over the small beach in front of the studio. Good bed. Good for the price.
Kihei Bay Surf #123 Studio, A/C, T/V, Wifi, Near Beach, Great Rat
Elaine S. from Lafayette, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in January, 2016 A great location in Kihei across from a beach for a nice morning walk and an evening sunrise. Clean, well appointed unit.
Property Manager Response: Response from Rentals Maui, Inc. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and that we could provide a great rate!
Kevin M. from Succasunna, NJ recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2015 My wife and I stayed here 12/14/15 thru 12/17/15. The unit had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice and roomy, and everything was very clean. Not fancy, no view, but a great place to sleep and put your stuff while you explore Maui. The unit is in the back, so no road noise. Would certainly recommend for the value and cleanliness. I hope to stay there again.
Gordon W. from Lake Oswego, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in November, 2015 We enjoyed everything about this property minus two. The towels all smelled badly of mildew except one, so we ended up using only that one towel the entire week. Also, the internet connection is painfully slow. Other than that, great! Take a towel and you'll be fine. The condo was very clean, no bugs. Safe location. We loved it!
Property Manager Response: Response from Rentals Maui, Inc. Thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback. We have replaced the towels in the unit and solved the slow internet issue.
Friedhelm B. from West Des Moines, IA recommends this property. Stayed for 13 days in September, 2015 Everthting was as promised. The unit was clean and spacious for 2 people. Pool and hot tub were well maintained. Overall a great experience.
A guest from San Jose, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in May, 2015 The apartment was very clean with all the necessary amenities to stay comfortably for the week we were there. While it was not a luxury condo, it was perfect for our needs. The kitchen was properly stocked and the condo was tastefully furnished (We liked the chest of draws in the living room). Another ghreat point was the set of guide books stocked in the aprtment which were very helpful for us as we were visiting Maui for the first time. The complex was very quiet and was bang opposite to the beach (which is the case for most of the apartments on Kihei). We enjoyed our stay at unit #123. We would definitely recommend unit 123 at Kihei Bay Surf.
Andrea B. from Salt Lake City, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2015 Since we got such a good deal on the condo rental I really didn't have high hopes for what condition it would be in. So I'm happy to say that it completely surpassed my expectations. It was a very nice little condo and the bathroom was even updated. It had a little back porch with a dining set as well. The bed was a little hard, but my husband prefers that anyway. It came with all the amenities we needed and for some reason the beach chairs were missing, but I notified the management and they got us new ones right away. We loved the location in Kihei, but I'm giving it 4 stars for that section since the condo isn't right on the beach (the beach is across the street). My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend this condo.
Property Manager Response: Response from Rentals Maui, Inc. Thank you for your great review. The owner has tried to furnish everything to make your stay perfect. We are so glad you enjoyed it.
Candace M. from Honolulu, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2015 This is a really BIG studio w/ kitchen. The room is very clean and I loved the shower! T.V. a bit small but hardly watched it--only for the news. Bring your own box of tissue or you'll have to use toilet paper. Too bad we didn't make use of the pool. We stayed here when my son had a baseball tournament at the stadium. Beautiful place and we will definitely stay here again if/when we come back to Maui to visit.
Property Manager Response: Response from Rentals Maui, Inc. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you back again in the future.
thomas t. from Laytonville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2015 Kihei bay surf #123 was a part of our wonderful 15 day honeymoon. Apartment was clean, quite and a great location.
Property Manager Response: Response from Rentals Maui, Inc. Thanks for your review of Kihei Bay Surf 123. We are so glad you like the property and congrats on your honeymoon~
A guest from Toronto, ON does not recommend this property. Stayed for 12 days in January, 2015 Unit's location in the complex is quiet. At the back, away from the road.Loud furniture-moving noise from the unit above.Lanai is big enough for four. In an inside corner, so very little breeze. No boogie-boards supplied.Hot-water heater was set at lowest setting on arrival, so not enough hot water for two showers in a row, and all the dishes were dirty because dish-washer couldn't function properly with luke-warm water.A 5 minute walk to the beach across the street. Sand on the beach there and to the north was good, but very stony to the south. In the water, there were often many stones on the bottom (which made wading uncomfortable). A 20 min. walk north along the beaches, near a public washroom, brought you to a nicer swimming beach. A further 20 minute walk north was an ABC store and snack bars, then the very nice Sugar Beach.
Property Manager Response: Response from Rentals Maui, Inc. Thank you for your review. We have rectified the hot water issue.
Erica G. from Rio de Janeiro, RJ recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2014 Great location. Quiet apartment despite the work of maintenance of the condominium and numerous construction workers. Soft and comfortable bed. Air conditioning cold. Shower pressure and hot bath. Sheets, blankets, bath towels, as well as beach towels were provided. Inconvenient: crotonbug in the kitchen.
Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2014 The condo was nice and clean. It was a good and a convenient location, with tons of restaurants nearby and close to the airport. The bathroom was pretty nice and spacious for a shower.
Tim O. from Houston, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in May, 2014 The property is right across from the beach. However the apartment is not on the main road so it does not have road noise. The development has tennis courts, swimming pool, a hot tub and also bbqs. However the swimming pool does need a bit of a clean and update. The apartment itself is clean, very well appointed and well stocked. The only thing that was off putting was the mouse bait that was outside and in the apartment. However saying that we did not see any mice around the property which is good.
Reviewed by: Walter H. recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2014 Nicely renovated condo in a quiet complex. If you don't want a luxury resort or a crowded hotel this is a great place to stay. The kitchen was great! It was nice to spend the day out and come back to a place that felt more like home than a busy hotel. The location was central to everything and grocery stores and restaurants were close by. It is an older complex, but clean and well kept. The unit itself was nicely remodeled and very comfortable. Thanks for a great stay at a great price!
A guest from Calgary, Alberta recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in March, 2014 I would rate this unit as average. Location was good (North Kihei) making it easy to get just about anywhere on the island. Couldn't get air conditioning working, but since we were out most of the time, it was bearable. Complex is a bit older and you can definitely hear your neighbors if they are moving around next door or above. Overall, if you are looking for a budget unit, this would be fine for one or two people.
Rick S. from Surrey, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2014 Fairly old complex, if you want ultimate luxury this is not the place but,if your looking for reasonable value,This is a good place to stay .Unit 123 is at the back of the complex which made it nice and quiet compared to units at the front facing s/kihei rd.The condo has been updated and was clean and nicely appointed and equipped with enough kitchen/bathroom supplies to make your stay comfortable. The only negative was The bed, even though it appeared reasonably new it wasn't very 's very stiff and hard.Definitely not for someone that likes a soft comfy bed.No view from the windows of anything other than the corner of the tennis court which is ok if you prefer someplace quiet.Definitely need a vehicle to get around, this complex is a fair distance from any amenities or shopping.overall a decent place to stay
Karen/Gerry P. from The Pas, Manitoba recommends this property. Stayed for 28 days in January, 2014 The condo and location were wonderful, no complaints. Any concerns were dealt with in a timely manner. We had read reviews which said you could get around without a car. If you wanted to just stay in area, that is true, but if you want to explore the island as we did you must invest in a car. The bus system is far from optimal! Car rentals are very expensive but we went with a used car rental, not optimal either but gave us lots of laughs and got us to where we wanted to go at half the price. We saw the whole island and partook in Zip lining, Red line snorkel tour, Sunset cruise, drove the Road to Hana twice and did the creator viewing on our own. Had a wonderful month on Maui and will definitely return at some point!!
A guest from Winnipeg, Manitoba, MT does not recommend this property. Stayed for 11 days in December, 2013 AC did not work properly.Lots of bugsunit was upgraded but it was still lackingwe should have stayed at other propertied that Maui Rentals may have had available but probably booked too late
Barbara C. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2013 I really enjoyed the fully stocked condo and it proximity to shops, the beach, and other areas on the island. It is a one mile walk or drive to the Java Cafe, Rite Aid, and restaurants with hibiscus and other exotic flowers all along the way. The residents of the condo are friendly and helpful when you run into them at the pool and hot tub. I had several nice conversations with locals and visitors. The location of Unit 123 means it is quiet and away from the street noise. The beach just across the street is wonderful for children and protected from the open sea by a boulder wall. I saw two large green turtles sunning themselves there. There is also a handy shower to rinse off the salt and sand before going back to the condo. Let me recommend the Pacific Whale Foundation for eco-tours, snorkeling, and whale watching. A great organization with highly trained staff. A minor recommendation - have an extra blanket available for those who like to breath cool and sleep warm.
Julie L. from Bois-des-Filion, Quebec recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in November, 2013 My friend and I stayed in Kihei Bay Surf and enjoyed it very much. Everything was perfect, everyone friendly. Staying in Kihei was the perfect location; it's cental, you can count 30-35 minutes max. to get everywhere in the Island from this place.
Kelsey P. from Richmond, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in May, 2013 We loved the location and all of our friendly neighbors. The place was well equipped with everything we needed. We loved the blender and rice cooker. The parks and beaches nearby were beautiful!
A guest from White Rock, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 13 days in January, 2013 I chose the Kihei Bay Surf because my sister stays there and it is my time with her. I enjoyed the unit #123. It has been renovated & well maintained. Re: the location, a car is a necessity in order to do any activity. The road is very busy and therefore noisy.
A guest from Gaithersburg, MD does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in November, 2012 The property we stayed at was nice enough for the time we spent in Maui, however it would have been nice to have a more private lanai with a better view than just the tennis courts. The location was good for travelling to other parts of the island but there was virtually nothing walkable within a mile. We also had a bit of a bug problem, finding 4 big cockroach looking bugs in the condo.
Ralph P. from Magnolia, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in May, 2012 CLEAN, quiet property. Were extremely pleased overall with the rental. Thank you for allowing us to stay. Couldn't have asked for more.
A guest from Salt Lake City, Utah recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2012 The beach across the street not the best in the area. However, this place is very close to some great beaches.
A guest from Bulyea, Saskatchewan recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in January, 2012 The water in the shower could be hotter, it was warm. I would suggest the place needs to be cleaned along the baseboards and the side of the fridge. Otherwise no complaints.
Joanne R. from North Vancouver, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in January, 2012 Our stay in Kehei was great. The condo was a terrific location for getting all over the island. It was spotless and well stocked for cooking, etc. Internet worked well - wireless would be better but great to have internet. Management was really good and notified us of items left behind and made sure we could conveniently get them back. Awesome vacation. Thanks.
Tina T. from Englewood, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in January, 2012 Myself & several family members have stayed in many of the condos in this complex for the past 5 years & just love Kihei Bay Surf. Unit 123 was a nice, clean, updated condo without feeling cramped or cluttered. I would recommend this condo to anyone. The only draw backs are the condo doesn't come equipped with an ice maker & the queen size mattress is a bit too firm.
A guest from Lynnwood, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in December, 2011 The beach is literally right across the street and the condo had everything we wanted, can't really complain at that price level for a spot on Maui! :)
A guest from Waterloo, Sydney, NSW recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2011 Had a great stay in Kihei Bay Surf #123. The room was a good size, and there was a pool, spa, BBQ and tennis court on the property. The condo is centrally located (not too close to the traffic thankfully, and near shops, etc), ideal if you're wanting to travel around to the various beaches on the island -- which is a good idea since the beach nearby pales in comparison to the many outstanding beaches around the Maui (which are pretty amazing). I'd really recommend this one for people wanting to use their place as a launching point around the island, which is very easy to get around on.The property managers were really approachable and helpful as well.
Arina S. from Anchorage, Alaska recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in April, 2011 It was our first time in Hawaii. Stayed in this unit for 12 days. Location is very convinient - close to grocery stores (Longs Drugs, Safeway, Foodland), restaurants and equipment rental places. We are couple, 28 and 30 years old. Not picky. If you like to be served cocktails near swimming pool - maybe you won't like this place, but we just needed clean place to stay, in convinient location, with kitchen (fully equiped, with kitchenware etc.) Beaches right near the place didnt look so great, but we were driving to different beaches every day anyways - to explore - so it wasnt an issue for us.
Carol B. from Garden Valley, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 28 days in January, 2011 We stay at the Kihei Bay Surf every year and seem to get a different unit every year. This one was newly remodeled and very clean and had nice furniture too. It had some good books about Hawaii too. It did not have beach mats (we left one that we bought), beach chairs, plastic dishes for the pool, or to-go plastic containers for the cooler. The dishes were all glass/china. They were nice for eating in, but you can't take glass to the pool or the beach. There was also no rice cooker me...everyone should have one. We managed though because I know how to make rice on the stove top in a pan. We enjoyed the condo despite these things. We bought chairs, borrowed plastic plates(which I left there in the cupboard)from our island friends and I bought plastic disposable wine glasses and cups. The people who live above in the up stairs unit are noisy...but just turn on the air conditioning and it will drown out anything! One other thing...the wifi signal is very weak in this unit...I could get a signal with my laptop sitting on the table by the bed or sitting at the head of the bed but no where else in the unit. The signal would go from 'very low' to 'no signal' so it is hit and miss, but if you take your laptop to the pool, you can get a signal from the picnic tables by the bbq. We love Maui and go there every year and always stay at the Kihei Bay Surf because of it's quiet location and we have several friends who live there. Enjoy your say on Maui!
Tony K. from Sterling, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2010 Great condo and in a great location (in between Wailea and Ka'anapali). Condo was renovated, clean, and had most everything we needed (linens, beach towels, snorkel, kitchenette). Only issues were that the shower water didn't get hot (just warm) and that the Lanai renovation wasn't completed as told it would be. This meant that the sliding door/windows to the lanai was boarded up during our stay. To avoid the unsightliness, we closed the curtains the entire time, which made it feel dark and closed off... no coffee on the lanai as recommended to do.
Arthur E. from Robersonville, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2010 My wife and I stayed at unit 123 and was pleased with the set up and condition. The condos phone was something less then likable since my cell died the day we got there. It worked but hated it as if you moved your hand on the receiver you cut the call off. Other then that was a good place to stay.
Not the best property with many problems AND under construction
Sandi R. from Folsom, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2010 This property had many issues but the most distrubing was the fact that I was not told that the unit above was under construction. The floor(tile) was being installed and they worked until 10pm several evenings until told to stop by the many upset tenants. I will never go back to this property or the property management group. Would not recommend to my clients, friends or family. they never even spelled my name right its RAMIREZ
Richard B. from Seattle, 98144 recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2010 Everything worked out fine. It was a good value. Location with water view would have been nice. We left comments on a few items that were not furnished in unit.
