The 17 Century villa, situated on the banks of the Dordogne River, is a charming Perigordian villa which has been renovated to a very high standard and has wonderful views of the river from all North facing windows. It is located on the outskirts of Siorac-en-Périgord,and is an ideal base for visitors to Dordogne who are eager to explore the historic and recreational opportunities of the Dordogne Valley. The property occupies a peaceful and verdant two-hectare (five-acre) terrain with 220 m (240 yards) fronting directly on the Dordogne River, which flows serenely through this rich agricultural region into the Garonne near Bordeaux.
Ground floor:
Large and handsomely furnished living/dining room with exposed stone walls and, along the North side, wide windows that look out onto the river. At one end of the room is a huge stone fireplace dates to 1648, with a sitting area and at the other end, nearest the kitchen, an attractive farm table with 8 ladder-back chairs. Separate guest WC. Cozy sitting room with 2 sofas,2 chairs, television, VCR, stereo system with CD player and satellite/cable TV.
Well-equipped kitchen, brilliantly illuminated and finished with antiqued-style cupboards and Burgundian stone counters. It is fitted with top-quality appliances, among them a 6-burner gas stove with 2 ovens. The stove, the two-door refrigerator with ice-maker, are stainless steel. Cooks will like the generous counter space which includes a built-in cutting board, the many cabinets and the variety of cookware and utensils. There is a pretty breakfast alcove with windows overlooking the Dordogne In the North and the brook running to the river in the East, Almost everywhere you hear the calming sounds of flowing water, and the song of birds.

There is a small outside terass with table for four right outside the kitchendoor over looking the court yard and garden

Guest bedroom: Charmingly furnished and decorated in soft rose colors, with a view of the courtyard. This room, which has a queen-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with shower and WC and walk-in closet, is ideal for guests who prefer not to climb stairs.

Basement: laundry room with an American-style washing machine and separate tumble dryer and a sink for hand washing, or rinsing cleaning materials.

A staircase of polished walnut leads to the first floor which comprises:
* Sunny reading area with a sofa and bookshelves,

* Two Beatifuly decorated guest bedrooms one of which looks onto the courtyard and has a single bed with a trundle bed below that may be used as another single or combined to form a king-sized bed. The other has a 140 cm (55" across) double bed and a view of the Dordogne. These 2 bedrooms share a Bathroom with a shower and a Separate WC.
* Luxury master bedroom suite with a King-sized bed, beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and wall-to-wall sisal carpet. The suite is entered through a large and sumptuously appointed bathroom with Jacuzzi, WC and an exceptionally wide shower with twin showerheads and 6 jets. There is a dressing area with closets and drawers finished in teak. As it occupies virtually one entire side of the upper floor, guests in the master suite have complete privacy and enjoy north-south views over the courtyard and river. In all the bedrooms there are bedside tables with good reading lamps, ample cupboard space and top-quality bedding with firm mattresses.

Other amenities include: Telephone for incoming and outgoing calls, outlets in all bedrooms, and an extra ssmall stereo ans TV.

Pool: The irregular-shaped infinity swimming pool, approximately 14 m x 9 m (46' x 30'), is in a beautiful setting about 25 meters from the house over looking the River. The pool has a terrace on one side and is surrounded by grass. We provide poolside chairs and umbrella, It is being beautifuly land scaped as I'm writting this.

Table tennis and board games are available.

Two portable cribs (cots) for children up to 2 years old and a highchair are available.

The new central heating system makes the house comfortable in all seasons.

AREA ACTIVITIES:
Swimming: You can use the heated pool or you can swim in the Dordogne itself which can be reached in less than two minutes by a forest path through the woods of our property to the grassy banks of the river.

The property is located at 20- 25 minutes drive from Sarlat-la-Canéda, a picturesque medieval town with art galleries, a variety of restaurants and many stores featuring the products for which the Dordogne is famed, chief among them foie Gras, truffles and the wines of nearby Cahors and Bergerac. The Saturday market is a must.

Les Eyzies, famous for its prehistoric caves, among them LE FOND DE GAUME, where you can still see original re-historic drawings dating back, 15,000 years, and several fine restaurants, is a similar distance to the North. Restaurants include Le Centennaire with two Michelin stars and a restaurant called Restaurant du View Moulin. Hiking opportunities abound in the region and kayaks and canoes can be hired. For golf lovers there is an 18 hole course 5 minutes away. and another on not to far by a lovely village called Montfort, about 20 mints away.

Le Bugue is a lovely little town on the Vezere River, It has a very famous Geological cave, PROUMEYSSAC, and a lovely Aquarium of sweet water fish, great for kids.

There is so much more to see, one has to get a book about the Dordogne to get a better idea of all that there is to see and do.

The two-story stone house dates to 1648 and used to be the post for the ferry service. The structure is typical of older houses in the Dordogne. In the main room visitors can still see the meurtières, small windows where the ferry operators took payment and oversaw the coming and going of the bac on the river below.

The property was refurbished in 2001-2003 and the result is a house of great charm where exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and solid hardwood finishes combine to create a comfortable home with a rural ambiance and 21st Century comforts. The Propery is reached by a small country road that winds through fields and woods to a small hamlet on the Riverbank.

Around the house and its stone barn are woods, groves of walnut trees, grassy slopes and a small formal garden. For outside dining there is a stone terrace with a good-sized table and built-in barbecue (8-10 People).

Near the pool, on the grass under a weeping willow tree, is another table where four + people, can have lunch with a view of the river below. The natural greenery the soft grass, shade trees, bosky woods and the lushness of the foliage provide the ideal setting for a country home in the Périgordian style.

A 30% non refundable deposit is requested with your reservation, final payment + security deposit is due 8 weeks before the rental date.your final payment is not refundable, unless we find a nother guest for that same period, and are paid the same amount. Incase we have to reduce the price, we will refund you the reduced rental fee.
We recommend getting travel insurance.

Check in for the property is on Saturdays between 5:00 and 7:00 PM
Check out is on Saturdays at the LATEST 09:00 AM (Grace time is 10:00AM, but not later)

A 1000 Euro,security deposit, will be collected with final payment . The deposit will be returned to the renter after verifying phone bills and damages to the property if any. A 175 Euros,for final cleaning will be dedacted from thesecurity deposit as well as 95 Euros for house heat if used or pool heat if asked for.
The
cleaning that is included is 3hr, on wed. and all linen is provided. Linen are changed on Saturday, there is always extra linens available.
The pool is tended to 2-3 times a week and the Gardens too.
In low season rental of 2 weeks or more will be reduces by 5%.
(unless there is a special)
In mid season the 5% discount is given on rental periods of 3 weeks or more. In hight Season we do not discount unless the rent is for 4 weeks or more. we do however promiss to make your stay as wonderful as possible. Pets are not accepted, children are wellcome. we have a baby porto-crib and a hight chair.
