Jan z. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2016 We had a relaxing vacation at the cozy Pines. The place was perfect- a good walk to the beach, secluded, comfortable and cozy.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and hope we can help you plan your next vacation here at the beach.
Tamara R. from White Salmon, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2015 The house was smaller than it seemed in the photos posted but it was clean and well supplied. The deck does not provide much privacy as homes are built very close to the property. The main issue I had was with the rental company. Lots of paperwork and signatures of release for refunds due to any broken items and other releases and after signing the documents and scanning back to them, upon checkin they asked for more signatures on the same documents. The rate posted on HomeAway was $120 per night but after all the taxes, security deposits, cleaning fees the nightly rate inclusive was $220 -- best to include these in the nightly rate to reduce buyer shock.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals Thank you for your review of the Pines. We apologize for the inconvenience of the contract requirements. We are working on electronic signatures to ease the process for our guests. We are also working with HomeAway to make sure that they state clearly that there are additional fees for all homes on top of the nightly rate. We hope you will let us help you again.
A guest from Bend, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 We spent two nights in the cottage. It's adorable with a lovely, larger than expected back patio in the trees. Everything was great except the beds and bedding. Our comforter was stained and none of the blankets felt freshly laundered. The sheets were pilled and the beds overall need replaced.
Carol S. from Bothell, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 We loved it, nice cozy place. Next time will stay longer. Surprised at "5 block"Distance to the beach, thought it was closer originally. The remotes need batteries so a bit frustrating after long drive. Instructions to start laundry, dishwasher and take sheets and towels to laundry kind of defeated the relief ofHousehold duties at home. Overall thoughEnjoyed the stay, the well appointed cabin.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2015 Great location and great deck. Bed linens need updating as does mattress. Cute kitchen that was very functional for cooking dinner
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals New bed linens have been purchased for this home.
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2015 We came here in the middle of a heat wave where we live. It was a lot cooler. The upkeep on the house contributed to the comfort. The house is darling and very comfortable.
Bob A. from West Linn, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2015 Exterior and interior of cabin look exactly like the pictures on the website. Great place to hang out for a few days - very quiet and peaceful, especially out on the deck. Would definitely stay here again. Manzanita is a sweet town - much less going on compared to Cannon Beach. Good bike trail from downtown Manzanita to Nehalem Bay State Park, connecting to miles of bike trails in the park itself. Trail to Neahkahnie Mountain summit just a few miles north of town, with trails to Cape Falcon/Short Sands Beach a few miles beyond that.
A guest from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2015 We had a very pleasant stay at The Pines cabin in Manzanita. The space is quiet, relaxing, and has plenty of amenities. It's a bit of a walk from town, but in good weather it's not a bit issue.
Steve C. from Evergreen, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2015 We love the Oregon coast and have stayed in many places. This house was great. Super clean and comfortable. Great fire place. Nicely equipped. We enjoyed ourselves. Thank you
A guest from Portland, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2015 I was appalled to learn that what Sharon originally told me that the rental of the place was around $175 for 2 nights, and it turned out to be $396. The damage fee of $70 was shocking, the laundry fee of $50 should have been included w/the rental. We spent around 20 hours total, only for sleeping & each had one shower. I think we were robbed!! I ended up paying $193, my share. Appalling!!
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals According to our records you did not book the house directly. We are sorry that you were unaware of our charges and the breakdown before coming on the trip with your friend who made the reservation. The unit rents for $130 per night plus 11 % lodging tax, $50 damage waiver that covers a renter up to $1500 in any accidental damage, cleaning fee on this unit is $70, and we have a 3% processing fee. This unit was booked online. All of our prices are advertised and a full quote is given at the time of booking.
Victoria D. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2015 The pullout bed upstairs was stuck, had to call Sunset Vacation but they were there in like 10 minutes. I think that should be replaced with something newer. Also the TV in the front room should actually be bigger. At least a 40". It is nice that there is a grocery store there now and you dont have to drive all the way to Tillamook or Seaside to shop for food.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals We discovered the extra foam mattress we supply for the hide a bed was stuck, causing the bed not to open. All is working fine now!
A guest from Oregon City, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2015 This was my second stay at the Pines and I love this place. This cozy little cabin on the hill is a short walk to town and the beach but is on a quiet street. The home is clean and has all the amenities you might need. My only complaint is that some of the windows don't have shades or curtains and I felt a little exposed at night. Otherwise a perfect little getaway. I would definitely go back.
Blythe F. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2014 Spent the Christmas holiday at the Pines with my dog and we had a wonderful time. Great loft for reading on the couch with a glass of champagne. Cozy wood fire, nice kitchen for simple meals, and a back patio enclosed by trees. Bedroom is comfortable, and there are two toilets/sinks for another single/couple to stay upstairs. They even put a gigantic poinsettia on the table to make it festive. Pretty great. Bit of a stroll to the beach, but Gladys the Pug had a killer time, and so did her mom! I can't wait to stay here again.
A guest from Moscow, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2014 We spent 4 wonderful nights over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful, cozy time. This was our second stay here. Comfy and cute decor; we were perfectly warm with the heaters, but we also tried out the wood stove. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and found everything we needed (brought the roasting pan). Lighting is a bit dim in the kitchen, but it all worked out! Squeaky beds are the only negative.
A guest from Portland, OR - Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in September, 2014 We had stayed here before. We love the location, it is extremely quiet. This was wonderful as our goal for the week was to read and study. Our two dogs were with us and they sat out on the porch between trips to the beach. So it was relaxing for all. A small issue when the shower doors cel off and I recall the being tempermental the first time we stayed too. That should be addressed. Otherwise we love staying at the Pines.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals The shower doors have been replaced!
Peggy L. from Prescott, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2014 Enjoyed the location and the nice deck for evening relaxing. Suggestion for future, cable upgrade for those rainy evenings.
Jeanne S. from Glenwood Springs, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2014 We loved The Pines house. Very cozy and private even with houses on either side. The deck was a great place to have morning coffee or a glass of wine. It is a little farther from downtown than we would have liked, but we did walk everywhere including to the beach. I did think that the non-refundable damage deposit on top of the cleaning fee for just 2 nights was excessive. This would be the main reason I would look elsewhere for a place to stay in Manzanita.
A guest from East Hampton, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2014 We found this cozy cabin clean and welcoming. The porch was wonderful for grilling our fresh caught salmon. All accommodations were comfortable and awesome.
A guest from Moscow, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2014 Great place. Very cute and comfy. Excellent bed in master. CD player doesn't work, but we used the portable from upstairs. Cable tv was not available. We had a dog with us and loved the space on the deck. It could use a gate closure at the top of the stairs, though.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals The CD player has been replaced
Avis A. from Auburn, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2014 We stay in Manzanita once or twice a year, and the last several times we have stayed in this quaint little cottage. We love the warm wooden interior, and the cozy floor plan. The deck makes you feel like you're suspended in the pine trees, very quiet. The walk to town and the beach is just far enough to give a really great workout, so we would head to the beach after every meal, or head to town. Really enjoy "Blackbird," a new restaurant in town. The grocery store near 101 is also within walking distance. We love this place!
Neil G. from Chico, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2014 Sweet and cozy house.Great forest views. Nice amenities (dishwasher, washer/dryer). Some negatives...long walk to and from the beach...upstaris loft has an uncomfortable "hide-a bed."
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals a pillow top mattress pad has been purchased to use on the hide a bed
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2014 We stayed at The Pines in mid-May, and had a wonderful time. The house was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The kitchen was adequate, and the space is very beautiful. It's a bit of a walk into town, but not so much that it's unbearable. I would certainly recommend this place to friends and family, and will plan on staying here again in the future.
Carol P. from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2014 Thanks to Sunset Rentals and The Pines, our Manzanita dreams came true! The cottage was charming, beautifully & thoughtfully furnished, and well-situated close to town and beach. A few small repairs are needed, as Sunset is aware, and then it'll be perfect. We hope to return, and stay much longer next time. Thank you so much.
Steve C. from Golden, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in April, 2014 We were excited to find our little home was a like a treehouse nestled in the woods. Proximity to town was great, we could walk everywhere. We made the reservation based on taking our dog with us and we were not dissappointed...a perfect holiday.
Great Getaway- Ever need two or three days of down time?
Carlos S. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2014 For those folks who need 5-star luxury accommodations, this place is not for you. If you like rustic, quiet, cozy and comfy for three or four days with clean amenities and an adequate kitchen to prepare a good meal for two to four people, this will due. This little place has the feel of a deep woods cabin with all the basics for down time. The only disappointment was that the CD player didn't work so bring something with you if you love and need your favorite music to be a part of the ambiance. Beach is a healthy hike if you like to use your body, about a ten minute walk or less.I had foot surgery, was in a recuperation boot and had limited mobility. I almost decided that perhaps the place would be too small and cramped, however, it being spring break and still too wet to go camping, I am mighty glad I decided to go ahead and book a brief stay. I absolutely loved it. I was close enough to the beach that we could get out in sunny weather, but it felt very cozy to be inside when it was raining. Will probably book again for my wife and I sometime in the future.
Janis B. from Underwood, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in January, 2014 Quiet location a little less than 1/2 mile from beach. Comfortable, small house with warm ambiance. It really had everything that was needed for two adults, and I would book again at that location.
A guest from Monument, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in October, 2013 The house was a little more of an up hill hike from the beach than you described. The garbage disposal was not work and that made it very tough to not have a smelly sink. The small items that go down the sink when you was dishes started to stink after about 3 days. Other that those items I would stay there again. Very quiet I think we were almost the only people in the neighborhood!
A guest from Nanimo, BC, Canada does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 Upon arrival we were quite exited by the appearance of the was cozy and surface clean but upon staying there for a few days definitely not clean.(cutting board, Inside cupboards & cobwebs) Beautiful deck & outside furniture but not sure about the ropes holdings the side rail on. As we were 4 adults staying here I would recommend a bed for the loft as the pull down bed was very uncomfortable. On the whole it has so much potential but definitely needs some TLC
A guest from Steilacoom, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2013 Really enjoy staying at this location. Love the wooded feel with the sound of the ocean close by. Couple things needed repair and staff were extremely responsive and great about getting on it. Only downside was that the washer didn't work which we typically use at least twice. Hopefully it can be replaced before we come next time.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals The washer and dryer have both been replaced.
Tiffany M. from Oregon City, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013 The Pines was the perfect little getaway from the hustle and bustle. The house is perched on the hill amidst the trees in a quiet neighbor. It is within easy walking distance from the main street and the beach, making it a the idea location for active days and relaxing nights. I loved the house too! It was charming and cozy with everything you could need. Ideal for a trip alone, for a couple, or a family of 3 or 4. I am already planning my next trip. Only difficulty was in getting through to the rental agency to confirm my reservation. But they do a fabulous job of providing instructions and keeping the property immaculate.
Nicole B. from Port Orchard, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013 Very charming little house. It fit the needs of our small family & we were able to entertain family members from nearby on the deck. My only complaints are the oven & stove top are in need of replacement & the washing machine was an utter frustration to use. It would vibrate so severely that it would walk away from the wall & error out if it wasn't babysat in the final 20 minutes (of each use).
Glen P. from Hood River, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013 A three day golf getaway to the coast. Great little cabin in the woods just a couple of blocks from downtown Manzanita. Great deck surronded by woods, charcoal grill, small kitchen, wood burning stove and comfortable conditions. Well appointed. Will return for another stay.
A guest from Hillsboro, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2013 The house was lovely, but we did not receive any directions or code until I called the day before our stay. We booked for 3 nights, not 2. On the second day, a cleaning crew showed up to clean the house. We had to ask them to wait another day. We were very comfortable there. The wood stove was nice during the rain, hail and wind!
Chelsea E. from Tigard, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2013 The rental was in a quiet, private area. There were times we felt like we were the only ones in the neighborhood. It was very clean and just right for our needs. I loved the loft and could spend hours reading up there. We walked to the beach and enjoyed running on the beach with our dog. It's so great to have a beach where you're able to let your dog run free! She was in heaven! When the weather improves, we'd definitely like to return. Then we can enjoy the beautiful deck, too.
Stephen A. from Hillsboro, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2013 A nice and cozy locale within the woods and not but a short walk from the beach or the town. Inside. wonderfully decorated. Games and mugs with works from various modernists - I appreciated that. A nice fire place to boot; however, the cleaning woman came five minutes to soon and knocked five minutes too early, but that aside, the stay will outlast itself and I would gladly return.
Robert P. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2013 We LOVE this small, cozy, cottage that defines charming. Sitting and reading while watching the trees sway in the Winter wind and rain and hail was a perfect way to spend time out of town. Plus, the rental company are real troopers as I left a bag there and they went beyond the call of duty helping me retrieve it.
Sherry W. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2013 We really enjoyed our stay at The Pines. It has that cozy cabin feel with real wood interior walls, a wood stove, and a private view onto a wooded area (despite nearby houses). There is a pleasant upstairs loft with a half bath that we did not use except to do laundry. A couple of negatives would be that it is not especially close to the beach and it has no dishwasher.
Beth H. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in January, 2013 Cute cozy home good for one or two couples. The only drawbacks are that the neighbors kitchen window looks right into the back door and into the living room. Would be easily fixed with shades on the back (and front) door. Also the "cable" that is advertised is pretty weak and many of the channels were very fuzzy. Luckily watching TV wasn't a priority for us but it would have been nice for the evening while relaxing to be able to see what was on the screen without a bunch of snow. Also, we didnt care for the flannel sheets on the bed. Other than that, great place.
A guest from Auburn, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2012 This little cabin has a peak-a-boo view of the mountains through the trees--very rustic. The wood stove heats up the place nice and toasty. The dirty dishes in the cupboard, though, are more a reflection on the previous guests, but perhaps the cleaning folk could check to make sure there are no lipstick smudges on the wine glasses! We wash dishes before we use them anyway, Love the quiet location and the great walk to the beach. Got all our exercise in and baked some lovely salmon. :)
A guest from Milwaukie, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2012 Overall a cute house. Great deck. Bed was pretty comfy. Kitchen just okay. About half the cable channels were fuzzy - it wouldn't have mattered except it was dumping rain - we ended up renting some movies.Needed a password for the dsl and when i called to get it the person who answered could not find it. She said the number was on the bottom of the modem but that didn't work.
A guest from Colorado Springs, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2012 Very comfortable place for 2 people. Very clean. Office staff were very helpful. Downstairs could use more ligthing in the living area. The house is more like 8 blocks down a hill to the ocean. We had to drive down.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2012 The house location was great and the house itself was adorable. It is on top of the hill so it made those long runs even longer. It was extremely clean and provided plenty of room for 2-3 people. The back deck was incredibly relaxing and quiet. My only issue was limited table space for sitting down to eat/work. There was a small fold out table that had a lamp on it or the table outside on the deck. Otherwise, if you needed a working surface it had its limitations. My laptop was a laptop for the week. I will come back to The Pines in the future.
William N. from Underwood, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2012 The lighting was inadequate, during a day of rain we read, but the lighting was inadequate. The cabin lacks an suitable sized dining table.
Linda D. from Steilacoom, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 This is not our first trip to the Pines. Our family really enjoys the space and would buy it in a heartbeat. No, I really mean it. We enjoyed upgraded furniture and TV. Agree with others that the pots could be upgraded. Had an unbalanced washer issue that shook the entire space but the staff took care of it very quickly and nicely. Weather was perfect and we had a great time. Thanks for the stay.
A guest from Hidden Springs, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2012 After 30+ years of going to the coast this was our first time staying this far North. The rental (Sunset) made the process very easy gave good directions and the in and out were effortless. The house was well cared for and had every thing we needed to have meals and be comfortable. I would reccomend, however, that the places to go be updated so it wound be easier to find services in the area.Overall very nice experience
A guest from La Grande, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 The house is convenient in every way. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The new furniture on the deck outside made for great eating outside or just sitting down with a good book.Love this place!
Anna J. from Bellingham, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2012 Very cute, with "mountainy" cabin feel. Perfect for our family of four. Only negative was that we it was too far to walk to the beach so we had to drive, which wasn't a big deal. No yard to play in either, but a nice deck.We would stay here again.
A guest from Pullman, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2012 Loved Manzanita! Not as touristy as other towns on the northern coast. This house is cozy and homey. Kitchen large enough to cook for yourself, plus grill, but no dishwasher and you have to wash your own dishes, so just bring paper goods. Also, this is a pet friendly home, which I didnt realize until I found pet hair on my things.Overall, a great location at a good price.
A guest from Bothell, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2012 We have stayed at the Pines many times over the years. It's a nice, small cabin. The furniture has been upgraded recently and looks nice. The couch in the loft looks and sits great, but is miserable to sleep on. Next time we will bring an air bed for our loft sleeper. The pots and pans in the kitchen have seen better days--we usually bring some of our own to use.
A guest from Bellingham, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 Overall we were really happy with our rental house, and I would definitely rent a house again instead of staying in a hotel. The house was well-maintained, in a nice woodsy and quiet location, and it included everything we could want or need! There are a couple of things there that could have used a bit of maintenance, but that's always the case it seems. Overall a great stay and we would go again.
Chris L. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2012 My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Manzanita. Our we spent half the week out and about in the sunshine, coming home only to pass out after a day of fun; the other half cuddled by the wood stove watching movies and listening to rain fall on the deck!
Lindsey M. from Tacoma, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 We had such a great time renting The Pines in Manzanita. It was our first trip to Manzanita and we brought our two medium sized dogs. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days in June. The weather wasn't great but we had a great time regardless.
A guest from Portland, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 10 days in May, 2012 I was switched to this property because my original reservation was not habitable. Arrived to an in progress 2-day logging of the property; spider nest in the bed frame; cheap bed; no window covering to block immediate view next door; was chared and additional $119. on my VISA for cleaning/taxes because i will have to move twice to fill the 17 day reservation due to the mgmt. co. not inspecting the original dirty property.
Steve W. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2012 We loved out cozy stay at the Pines, and enjoyed the nice deck off the back gazing into the trees. The walk to town and the beach was nice. Not too close, but not too, too far. We will stay again!
Andrea B. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2012 The place was perfect for us; 2 busy Seattlites getting away for 3 nights. There was more than enough room for two. We especially enjoyed the upstairs loft, the large deck nestled in the pines (hence the name!), games, and the stained glass window. You can't go wrong with this place if you are looking for a spring getaway vacation spot on the coast! It was easy to walk to town and the beach; I just wish it have a view of the ocean or was a bit closer.
Victoria D. from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2012 I think checkout time should go to twelve NOON. Why no porch lights on deck? Other than that it was a nice visit and great little place. I left other comments at the rental.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals We thank you for your stay and apologize that the light bulb was out on the deck for your stay. We have replaced the bulb and it is now back in working condition.
Rachael S. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2012 Very tastefully decorated, comfortable & homey. Weather was not so great so we were especially glad to have such a pleasant place. Patio looked great. Will seek this place out again.
A guest from Victoria, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2011 This property was exactly as described and was perfect for the two of us to escape the city, relax and enjoy the winter storms in Manzanita. It is small but spotless and homey and we enjoyed reading by the fire and walking down along the beach. We thought the large deck would make it a great summer escape, too.
Mary M. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in November, 2011 We thought this home was adorable. Just wish the couch was more comfortable and there was a larger TV. Also, the light in the kitchen could be improved. We upgraded to another home and couldn't have been happier. The management at Sunset Vacation Rentals go out of their way to accomodate and help make your stay a happy one. I can't wait to come to the beach again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals Thank you for the feedback. The owner purchased a new couch, chair and ottoman for the livingroom, and a larger TV as well!
