The elevator makes it accessible for everyone, so it's a good choice for a multi-generational vacation. Ocean Hammock Resort is a family friendly, gated beach community. The world-renowned Ocean Hammock Golf Course winds through the neighborhood, affording spectacular views. There's something for everyone here!
Your favorite part of Florence by the Sea is probably going to be the giant atrium-ceiling lanai, located off the rear of the house for even greater privacy. Enclosed in this vast space is a lovely swimming pool with an adjacent Jacuzzi to massage those golf-sore muscles! There's also a full summer kitchen, with a state-of-the-art grill and plenty of room for seating and poolside play. Just wait until you find yourself floating in the pool, gazing up at the vast blue Florida sky with a cold drink close at hand! Stress and everyday cares just melt away here!
Step inside from the lanai and you find yourself in our family room, one of two living areas designed for a crowd. Here you'll find a huge HDTV, wet bar, ultra-comfortable sofas and chairs, stereo system with Surround Sound (this is available throughout the house), cool tile floors, and plantation shutters on the many windows. After a long day at the beach, the family room is like an oasis! Make yourself a drink, put up your feet, and enjoy the game or your favorite show.
The second big living area is upstairs. Our great room is filled with windows and surrounded by balconies, and boasts a huge fireplace in addition to another entertainment center with HDTV and all the trimmings. And if you need more space, Florence by the Sea has a spacious office!

Beyond the long granite countertop and breakfast bar, you'll find Sub Zero appliances, a central island, custom cabinetry, and all manner of appliances and equipment. You can prepare a feast for 20 in here without going short a single fork! While the weather did not cooperate with us, there was enough to do to keep us occupied and we all had a wonderful vacation. The remote to the pool was confusing until we were shown how to use it by a property manager, to heat the pool properly as the water was quite cold when we first arrived. The management company was quick to respond to our 2 maintenence issues and very helpful overall. The house was spacious and comfortable. Some of the patio furniture on a higher balcony was rusting and the lights of that balcony were rusted out but otherwise, the house and furniture were in very good condition. The house was generally clean but needed to be dusted. Being on vacation, it was nice to be inside a gated community. I can't wait until we are able to book again! The Master Bedroom on the 3rd Floor was dirty, too (Blood)! Chair at pool was broken, management came to fix it.We have washed all dishes as well before use. TV is difficult for usage. Overall, we loved the location (quiet), and the house as well as the direct connection to the ocean. There were 10 adults and 5 children and we all were very happy with the arrangements. The reason we didn't give a 5 star on overall is because there was not enough information on regulating pool tempt. and also the main floor ice machine was not working properly it needed service but we noticed that late in our stay. We did call maintenance and they came to repair the front door latch and screen door on pool. Maintenance was excellent. August 13, 2012 Visit Sharon T. from Boca Raton, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 The property and location was beautiful. We had 16 people, mostly adults, and we were very comfortable in the home. We never felt like we were on top of one another. My only complaint is that there was only one 2 quart pot in the kitchen. There were plenty of plates, utensils, and frying pans but only one small pot. Good thing we thought to bring a deep pot with us. We had a couple of things that needed to be fixed when we first arrived. I called the management company and within an hour of my phone call, maintenance was there to take care of the problems. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 From the initial booking to the check-out process, this was hands-down one of the most enjoyable travel experiences my family has ever experienced. We received personal phone calls before and after the trip; check in/check out was a breeze; the home was phenomenal. We traveled with 6 adults and 7 children (ages 3 months-17 years). We had plenty of space, plenty of dishes and linens, and we were almost the only folks on the beach! The only suggestions I have would be to include instructions for the sound system--we were afraid to try it! Also, instructions for the pool controls would be nice. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 Along with my wife and 6 month newborn, my parents and my 3 sisters with their families accompanied us. A total of 10 adults and 8 children ages 6 month - 11 years old. Beautiful house with all the amenities. No complaints on the house. The kitchen was perfect for our large family, 2 sink locations. However, we were not satisfied with the beach. Do your research! The beach had alot of rocks while wading which was not great for children. We were wondering why there weren't any people swimming the 500 yards expanse of beach in front of us and the website description didn't say anything about the beach either. At the suggestions of some local property owners, we packed our vans up and headed to MarineLand beach every day. A pain. Defeats the purpose of getting beach front/beach view. Adults and teenagers could skim over the rocks but I would NOT recommend this house to families with young kids who want to spend days on the beach. We had called VRpros several times prior to our trip to enquire about the beach and was told it were fine. Like I said, we saw nobody swimming in the water in front of the house for 7 days and saw only a few sunbathers. Great house, not a great location for families w/ young children. It was a wonderful vacation thanks to the house that allowed both family time as well as private spaces. This was for our parents' 50th anniversary and it was PERFECT!! The neighborhood was beautiful and meticulously kept, everything clean, very quiet streets, private beach, beautiful views from house. My only suggestion for the owners/mgmt company would be to fix the temperature issues on the pool as it was luke warm at its coldest and typically the same temp as the hot tub. Thankfully the outdoor temperatures weren't too hot so we didn't need the "cool refreshment" that a pool should provide. Home Away From Home for Family Vacation Tom P. from Everett, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 Florence by the Sea was the perfect place for our family of 9. Everyone had lots of room and privacy yet the home provide great gathering spaces as well. The pool area was nice and bug free, the bedrooms were spacious and the dining room accommodated all 9 of us at the table. The kitchen was well equipped, too. Our only complaints, and they are minor, are that there weren't enough sharp knifes for the chefs in the family. Hint: buy pre-sliced bread at the store. Also, a two slice toaster isn't enough for a big group. That aside, the house was perfect for our needs and the location was excellent with easy access to the beach and close enough to the great restaurants in St. Augustine. Tip: make dinner reservations at Collage. We'd definitely consider staying here again if planning a return to northern Florida. Don't use vrp Mike G. from Clarksville, TN does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2012 I wanted to speak with the owner of vrp but he would not call me, i guess my 5500.00 was not enough for a phone call. I will not reccomend vrp to anyone. U all was great at taking my money. I will also be calling the local BBB. Thanks have a great day!!!! Family vacation A guest from St. John's, NF recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2012 Stayed with two families both with 2 children under 3. We loved this rental property. Beautiful house with great location across from the very private beach. Most days it felt like we were the only people on the whole beach. The outdoor space with pool/hot tub and grill were also great. Only minor issue was with the temperature of the pool and hot tub. Some days both were cold and others they were really hot and we couldn't really control it. Overall we had a great vacation and would definitely consider going back. 50th Anniversary A guest from Medford, WI recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2012 We had a great time at Florence by the Sea. The pool was the biggest hit. We had plenty of room. We cooked every night and the kitchen was great with all of our cooks. My only suggestion would be the TV's. The main TV on the second floor was way to complicated to work. Only 1 or 2 people could get it to work 1/2 the time. It would have also been nice to have a small TV in the bedrooms downstairs. The TV in the King size bedroom only worked with DVD, no regular TV. These are small things overall we had a great stay. Great place; could benefit from better dining set-up A guest from Marietta, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2011 The home was lovely and well maintained with nice furnishings. We had a view of the beach from the third floor porch, and beach access was directly across the quiet neighborhood street. The pool area was lovely, and we enjoyed cooking on the gas grill. We found the placement of bedrooms/baths to be a little awkward for our multi-generational family group. Our youngest are college-age; groups with young children would probably be fine. Our one suggestion would be to change the seating in the dining room to provide more than six chairs and/or provide folding chairs and a card table. We were disappointed that a house that could sleep 16+ did not provide adequate table space and seating for our 15 adults to gather for meals in one general area. Great house, nice views and beautifully appointed Melinda W. from Middleburg, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2011 Our family loved this home. It is 2nd row to the ocean and very easy to get to. We were hoping to spend a lot of time on the beach but it was drenched with seaweed and the first time we went out our girls came back with bites all over their legs and feet from sand fleas I supposed. Sand is not the soft white but course and not for sand castles. It had rained and was very windy so we really didn't get any beach time our vacation. The house is beautiful inside, it was so nice to have the bunks on the same level as the master. We also loved the pool after we figured out how to turn on the heat. I think we may have been one of the first renters as there were a few kinks that need worked out. The MB light switches which would continue tripping the breaker. A ton of light switches and four difficult tv remotes to the main TV to figure out. The garage is very hard to get your vehicle in as the two on the side are very narrow and a SUV or Van will take 4 or 5 turns to get it in straight and only inches on each side. The other garage is used for the owner of the house which would have been the easiest to get in. Over all, the house was very nice. Be prepared to pay for tolls crossing over the bridge as everything is across the bridge. I would say that if the beach was a bit nicer we would absolutely come back.
