This is a modern, luxurious, spacious, sunny and quiet apartment (street with no traffic and away from nightlife) with wonderful views of the old town, castle and river. It is tastefully furnished with quality and comfort and very well equipped. Immaculate clean, prices include mid stay maid service for stays of 1 week or more. Most attractions are within walking distance and the Metro is at the door. Access to the Congress Centre possible by tram. You will be close to beautiful monuments and churches, old 'cafés', theatres, shops and restaurants and still can enjoy the local atmosphere through the big windows giving to Rua do Carmo. Area very safe both day and night. This is not just a beautiful and comfortable place to rest after a day of discovery. Staying here will greatly enhance your Lisbon experience.
The building of the apartment was reconstructed in 1996 under the supervision of famous architect Alvaro Siza respecting the original 18th century architecture and is located in Rua do Carmo at the very heart of Chiado. This is a prestigious and lively pedestrian street hosting some of the most important Lisbon sites, like the famous S. Justa iron lift - a 3 star Michelin attraction just 50 mt from the apartment. Chiado is certainly the most beautiful area of historical Lisbon, unique for its background and always a privileged meeting point for 'lisboetas' and visitors with its old cafés and shops coexisting with top fashion boutiques and art galleries. It is one of the most fashionable (and expensive) places to live in Lisbon. Chiado has been a place of beautiful churches and palaces since the 13th century. After the 1755 earthquake it became the centre of cultural and commercial life in Lisbon.
We lived in this apartment for some happy years before the family grew up. During all that time we really felt privileged and lucky to be able to live in such a place. This is a unique location in Lisbon for its beauty, as well as its historic and cultural background. We really miss the sun coming in each morning from behind the Castle, strolling up R. Garret or down to Rossio, walking at night to the opera or some restaurant in Bairro Alto as well as staying at home enjoying the view, the blue sky and the fresh and airy feel of the white stone floor and high ceilings. Since we started sharing this place, we have noticed people find different attractions to the apartment, although all adore the location, view, sense of space and light as well as to hang out the windows and enjoy the “living theatre” of Rua do Carmo. To be honest, one main reason why we rent this apartment for short stays is because we like to go back there sometimes.
Apartment located at the 4th floor (total of 5) with 2 elevators. Supermarket only 100 mt away open 7 days a week. Mobile phone can be provided, with outgoing calls at your expense. Internet WI FI access available. Basic supplies of, at least, coffee, milk, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil, vinegar, herbs, napkins, toilet paper, soap and washing powder are provided. For helping you to get the most from your visit to Lisbon we will offer you a copy of our 'Personal Guide to Lisboa' with suggestions for sightseeing, restaurants, Fado houses, cafes, nightlife, shopping, children programs, music, wine brands, etc. Most tourist guide books to Lisbon and Portugal (Lonely Planet, American Express, etc) are available for use at the apartment. For your enjoyment at home, we selected Portuguese music and Fado CDs, DVDs of popular movies, books and Cable TV with more than 40 channels, including several English speaking. Baby bed and highchair can be provided.

The prices quoted are for 2 persons. For each more person add 10 euros a day. Minimum 1 week for reservations in Easter and New Year. Damage deposit of 150 euros.
Check in after 4pm and check out before 10am. Other arrangements possible if no other guests are coming in / going out the same day. If you cannot get in immediately on arrival or have to leave sometime before your convenience, it will normally be possible to leave your luggage in the apartment for a couple of hours. Extra housekeeping can be arranged.
The price for two days will have to be paid immediately via pay pal, credit card or bank transfer and the remaining will have to be paid one month prior to arrival. The price for reservations less than one month in advance will have to be paid immediately in full. In case of cancellation we shall refund funds received, minus a 100 euros cancellation fee, if the apartment is re-rented for the same dates.
