and surrounded by the green of cultivated lands. The castle is on the outskirts
of the medieval hamlet of Montisi.

by tourists and travelers: the landscape consists of small wavy hills whose tops
nestle villages of medieval origins rich in history and master pieces.

throughout the centuries and also how life runs in such a tranquil pace amidst
castles, vineyards, and olive groves; an atmosphere you will enjoy plunging into.
The castle in which Villa Leopoldo D is located is the main house of a farm,

oil, and limoncello.

The castle where you will be staying was built in the fourteenth century with
the purpose of protecting the goods and the lands of the Hospital della Madonna
della Scala of Siena. Throughout the centuries, the castle was controlled by
several administrators, each establishing works to the fort and their own coat
of arms on the walls, many still seen nowadays. In 1775 the castle and part of
the lands were sold by the Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo of Tuscany to its last
rulers, ancestors of the current proprietors.
The castle was surrounded by high walls and ditches, and it also had a
watch-tower which was destroyed during the World War II. In its interiors you
can see two old courtyards around which there were the shops of artisans. You
can even visit the bedroom where the Grand Duke used to sleep, with its
magnificent canopy bed and also the small eighteenth-century theater.
