Rass Mandal- Exceptional residence on 10 acres with pool, hot tub and sauna.5 bedrooms & 3 baths - sleeps 10-12. 1100 sq. ft. yoga/dance pavilion.
Rass Mandal is a unique adobe vacation residence situated on a mountain range of pine forests with spectacular views. Entering brings you to another time and presents a serene and inspiring atmosphere for all. The house and grounds of more than 10 acres offer abundant locations for quiet time. There are numerous hiking & mountain bike trails immediately accessible, some of which take you directly to the center of Santa Fe..
Upon entering the home you encounter a large domed circular living room complete with a fireplace, eastern antique furniture and beautiful views looking out to a pool. Off to the left of the living room is the dining room and kitchen area. The dining table has room to accommodate 12 and is a great area for entertaining and formal meals. The kitchen is open plan and has a Moroccan style fireplace and a very comfortable breakfast nook ideal for bird watching. Behind the kitchen is a queen size bedroom and a bathroom, secluded from the rest of the house with its own private entrance.
To the right of the living room are guest quarters, each room offers views overlooking the grounds and the entire Santa Fe valley. The master bedroom is complete with a fireplace, a large meditation/work area, beautiful bathroom and sunken Jacuzzi with views. Additionally, there is a 2nd story observation deck that provides expansive views over all of Santa Fe, the Jemez Mountains and beyond.
Heading outside, there is a large private pool with waterfall, hot tub and sauna. This is surrounded by a deck and patio ideal for outdoor dining and relaxation.
Clear skies 325 days a year, superb affordable restaurants, wonderful wines and relaxed shopping in the sun guarantee a break to remember. Our swimming pool and hot tub are open until the end of October (subject to the weather).Please note, this home may require the use of a 4-wheel drive vehicle during winter months.

Stayed for 4 days in October, 2012 Our entire family consisting of 10 adults, two young boys and a newborn, had an exceptional time at Rass Mandal. We were all impressed with this warm, tranquil and surreal property that sits high on a mountain top of 10 acres. The views from the back of this one story home were spectacular. The property?s back yard had a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, yoga pavilion, barbeque and fire pit. Furnishings inside the home included exquisite antiques, fine china and silver, all available for our enjoyment. From the time of booking, the service received was nothing less than superb. Kokopelli, Yvonne Montoya in particular, provided continued service and recommendations on all that I asked for. Chefs, yoga instructor and baby rental service for our newborn. The day after our arrival, we set up an appointment for Cricket Austin to provide our group with a private yoga lesson, 1½ hours designed to accommodate beginners to intermediate. Cricket?s knowledge and experience made yoga fans of all of us.The chef who cooked for our group was Sancho Soeiro, Dish and Spoon Café and Catering. Our dinners were prepared off property and brought to Rass Mandal. The meals were delicious and I would highly recommend the green chile chicken enchiladas, the calabacitas and the brownies. We used Santa Fe Baby for all baby products that were delivered and picked up when requested. A+.The service provided by the owner, Richard Woodruff was welcoming and professional. He took the time to meet us at the property the day of arrival and made sure we were comfortable and satisfied, and that all our needs were met. David Gandy et al stay July 19-28, 2012 David G. from Montgomery, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 9 days in July, 2012 Very lovely location and interesting house. Big negatives were 1) House not clean and we found dead shriveled up mice in the master bedroom closet between the extra mattresses. We needed to use the mattresses but ended up putting them outside because of unsanitary conditions (dead mice and insect holes). Additionally, blankets in closets that obviously hadn't been used in awhile were insect infested. It was clear that the only cleaning done was surface cleaning. 2) We didn't realize there was no A/C and leaving the windows open was not option due to flies and other insects. 3) Pool not heated so 6 kids froze and adults wouldn't use. We would have paid extra to heat the pool. 4) The idea of prior renters leaving food they don't use should not be allowed, particularly opened containers. Any health department would not allow it. It is unhealthy. 5) Location turned out not to be very kid friendly - no place to ride bikes, no access to trails. |

Rass Mandal - Not a family friendly house A guest from Norman, OK does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2012 Scenery was great and, overall, the stay was fine. However, there are some negatives. The road leading to the house was in very poor condition and could damage your vehicle unless you go very slowly. The furniture in the house was not suitable for relaxing. The TV is in the dining room of all places. The pool heater did not work and the water was much too cold for anyone to get in. (70*) There is no A/C or ceiling fans and sleeping was not comfortable at all. No shower in the master bed room. Big house, but overpriced for amenities. Needs a bit more updating. |

Stayed for 4 days in June, 2012 Eleven girlfriends, from Illinois, Iowa, Texas and Wisconsin, getting together at an extraordinary place to celebrate an extraordinary event...our 60th birthdays! Rass Mandal was perfect for our celebration...lots of room to all get together in one place or do our own thing...reading on the "infinity" deck, cooling off in the outdoor pool (VERY rare in Santa Fe), walking the 10 acre property, zumba and yoga at the meditation pavilion, sleeping under the stars. Very convenient location...less than 10 minutes to Old Town Santa Fe, 30 minutes to horseback riding at Bishops Lodge, 1 hour to river rafting with Kokopelli Rafting. Enjoyed good food at Cowgirl's, Harry's Roadhouse (ask for the back garden...enchanting at night) and Tomasita's, also Church Street Cafe in ABQ. Everything you need for the kitchen is there...just bring the food and beverages! PERFECT! |

Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 Last month, my family joined two others for a week stay at Rass Mandal. We have stayed in vacations rentals by owner for years now (FL, TX), and anticipated that this property to be like our previous experiences ? perhaps not quite as nice as the pictures presented it, but pleasant enough. We did not know how wrong this would be; to say ?the pictures do not do it justice? is a complete understatement! Rass Mandal greatly exceeded our expectations in every way ? it was larger than anticipated, the kitchen was better provisioned, the grounds more expansive and relaxing. For the first time, we were fully content to just sit around and enjoy the property, without feeling the urgency of seeing the many other attractions in Santa Fe.As we unloaded the cars, Richard Woodruff happened to be there to greet us and provide insight on the property. The home is huge and provides the ultimate kitchen for preparing meals and dining alike. We were fortunate to have the time to spread out and take advantage of the unique living room, the ?meditation? room off the master bedroom, and even the observation tower and rooftop patio. A fantastic home! All in all a great home, with great energy and a fantastic people caring for it. This home provided us with memories that will last a lifetime and truly brought us all closer together. A big thank you to Richard for allowing us to share in his wonderful Rass Mandal in beautiful Santa Fe. |

It is obvious that the current owner loves this place and has restored it to its original beauty. He continues to add magical, mystical, and spiritual elements to it. It was wonderful because each person, young and old, had a wonderful secret room/space to hide and enjoy a private moment. The kids loved the house so much that they resisted leaving it! On the other hand, the house configuration is ideal for dinners around the table and time together in the sitting room and pool area. I highly recommend this house for retreats. |
