A guest from Katy, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in January, 2016 We enjoyed the accommodations provided in and around Black Bear Run. The kitchen was fully stocked with supplies, utensils and cookware. We really enjoyed the large fireplace on the main level; making a fire each morning and evening. I will stay in Black Bear Run again.
A guest from Cerulean, KY recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in October, 2015 We enjoyed a restful 2 weeks in a beautiful cabin. The sunsets were outstanding and the stars just glowed upon us each night.
Gopalakrishnan V. from Westerville, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2015 Overall it was good experience, we loved the full kitchen, sit out area, dining area, atmosphere and more...Bear theme was scary on the day one, then it turned out to be a thrill and fun filled experience. The basement was dark and scary. We happen to find more deers but no bear :(One of the bedroom wasn't cleaned properly after our previous guest, there were lots of pet hairs.
A guest from pikesville, Maryland recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2015 Up close to the top of the mountain, this house feels quite private. The four bedrooms and three bathrooms are nicer in person than the online pictures show. T
A guest from herndon, VA - Virginia recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2015 Our family of 6 (Kids age 10,9,8, &4) stayed for three nights. The house was immaculate and very comfortable. The kitchen had all the supplies we needed. Bathrooms and Laundry were in perfect working order. We would definitely recommend Black Bear Run and would definitely come back if the chance ever arises again! Thank you!!!
Matthew S. from Derwood, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2015 Amazing. We had 5 kids with us and 6 adults and this cabin was great. We were able to sled in the back yard and it is very close to both ski resorts. Amazing view and the hot tub and fire place were wonderful. Definitely need four wheel drive if there is any snow on the ground. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer!
Laura C. from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in August, 2014 We have been coming to Canaan Valley for 15 years and always stay in Old Timberline community. This was our first stay at Black Bear Run and certainly will not be our last. The house was spacious, very clean and with every amenity you could need. I always cook most of our meals when we are on vacation and I appreciated the Calphalon pans. We had plenty of room to hang out inside and outside on the great covered deck and in the hot tub. There were plenty of dishes, glasses and silverware to use so we weren't constantly running out of dishes. The house is close enough to the top of the mountain that you could walk it if you wanted a good workout or it was a short drive to the top. the only possible negative was not having a closet or dresser in the lower level bedroom. We hiked everyday-Bald Knob at Canaan, many in Blackwater, and Seneca Rocks. We even tried the zipline at Timberline-really fun. We recommend Mountainstate Brewing Co, Hellbender Burrito, the Ice Cream shop in Davis. We really love it here and will plan to rent this home again in the future.
Erica L. from French Creek, WV recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2014 The house was GORGEOUS!!!! The views in the area were beyond words. We have always been fond of black bears and so the house decor was perfect for us. The house was well equipped with everything you might need (except food and personal Items of course) Would love to spend more time in the area.would be interested in one of the rentals with the mountain views. This was a very last minute booking so being able to stay with such short notice was awesome!!!! Also we have a one year old son and there were gates at the top of both sets of porch stairs. That was a relief to find. Otherwise he would have been trapped inside for the whole time. Thanks to the best of Canaan people!!!!
Effie K. from Washington, District of Columbia, USA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2014 We so enjoyed this well-appointed house on a peaceful hill. The kitchen was well stocked for us since we cooked every meal (except the knives were dull). The bedrooms were comfy and the view fantastic. I'd recommend this to friends in a heartbeat.
A guest from Conowingo, MD does not recommend this property. Stayed for 9 days in July, 2013 It is with mixed emotions that I draft this reveiw. The house was very nice and the general conditions also rate well. However it was as if someone knew all my pet peeves....well here we go. The master bath room would have been great except for the large clumps of hair that would have stoppedup the drain if I could have brought myself to step into to use the second choice would have been the whirlpool tub but the appearence of the jets left me wondering if I should just dunk myself in the toilet and flush to get the same effect.Add a super slow drain in the other bathroom to complete the short list of my peeves. So we had to place a call to the property manager, the manager was able to send out a cleaning crew but in fairness to the crew once you see a few things you see all the unclean areas. For example...the apple that was decomposing under the furniture. So we had to clean in order to feel comfortable. So on to the 150 gallon hot water hair catchment system or the hottub. If I had peeled of the clump of fur as some one in our party did, it would have been a hot water hair and vomit containment system. Not wanting to allow this to spoil my one vacation a year, we perservered. We did inform the property manager upon check out and were told someone from the office would call to follow up but that did not happen.
A guest from Washington, DC recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2013 The house is so well laid out and equipped, that there was room for all of us to be together, or to have "our space" as needed. Everything we wanted or needed was provided- including wildlife sighting!
Reviewed by: Susan D. recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2012 The Bears Den is a lovely vacation home with all of the amenities, as well as little luxuries like pillow-top mattresses and down comforters to make your stay extra comfortable and cozy. There is plenty of space to spread out, and the outdoor living spaces are as nice as those inside. My favorite place to relax was in the porch rocker off the living room. The view was spectacular, and the sound of the wind soughing through the treetops was magical. My family can't wait to go back for another long weekend.
A guest from Marrietta, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012 We had a wonderful time. The home was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the porches reading and relaxing. Weather was cool and comfortable, like Autumn, but very green. It was like being in the tree tops. Property was private, but convenient. Lots of space to spread out and gather together both inside and out. The children enjoyed the things Timberline had to offer as well. Garage was nice extra as we were able to fit our vehicle and two motorcycles inside. Everyone is anxious to come back.
Katherine S. from Coral Springs, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 This home was so well equipped, beautiful, comfortable, and clean that we will stay here again and again. Being so close to the top made for awesome hikes through Dolly Sods and blueberry picking! Awesome views from the porch made for lovely mornings and sunsets. The kitchen was so well equipped, we ate every meal in! The luxury we were looking for and can't wait to come back to Black Bear Run!!
