Once you settle in you?ll discover this is one of the best locations in the High Country offering a collection of year round activities and attractions. In winter enjoy skiing, snowboarding and ice skating in nearby Boone. And when the snow melts the area turns into an all inclusive mountain playground with many ways to have fun on land or in water.
Without having to venture too far you can go fishing at the community lake, stocked and ready for hours of catch and release amusement. You can wander the lakeside trail, enjoy a picnic at the gazebo and the beach is always popular with the kids. If you are looking for something more invigorating take a hike through the forest of trees and over the mountain terrain to the community waterfalls. The living room features a wood burning fireplace and amazing wall of windows that showcases the long range mountain and river views. The kitchen / dining area offers all the comforts of home and the living space is extended out doors on the open deck and covered porch where you can sit and relax or have an afternoon BBQ. This level offers one bedroom with queen size bed and separate full bath. On the upper level you?ll find the master suite with queen size bed and full bath. The loft area is spacious with and amazing view of the mountains and offers two twin size beds for sleeping overflow.
Please note parking is limited to two vehicles, numerous steps leading up to chalet.

More view of mountains now that some of the trees are cut down. Nicer view. Will have to stay there more now that we have more of a view. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2012 Our stay was great. we enjoyed the view, the changing leaves and the price and quiet. our neighbors were friendly and very helpful finding local attractions. the only real issue we had was the driveway. not sure how that could be fixed though . we took my f150 4x4 so we fared ok but i had to put it into four wheel drive to back into the parking spot. loved the porch and cool air. my family had a great time and we will definitely rent with this company again in the future. glad we left when we did, heard there was 10" s of snow on Monday. |

Great View but in the middle of no where Tammy B. from Shreveport, LA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 We loved the view from the cabin and the fact that we could take our furry family members was the best part. The cabin was very clean but had no AC and it was hot that week. Fortunately the river was close by to cool off. Would have liked to be a little bit closer to towns and tourist attractions. The only other draw back was the lack of enough linens and towels to last the duration of our stay. We had to find a washer & dryer mid week. |

Away from the crowds, but convenient to West Jefferson for food, gasoline, supplies, etc. Love the New River and the road which parallels the river is great for biking. The only negative is the lack of good parking for the chalet. The driveway is so steep that we parked in the cul-de-sac and it is a bit cumbersome carrying items so far, but for a few days, it is OK. |

Need more silver ware and better pots and pans. Getting from parking to house difficult for senior adults the diffaculty should have been mentioned. We do offer Early Check In and Early Check Out for a nominal fee if other guests are not checking in or checking out on the same day. |

Riverbend Chalet Review A guest from Winnabow, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2011 There were two major issues for us that would be deal breakers for us to stay at this property again. 1. Because my husband has physical limitations, the fact that we could not access the property to unload our luggage, etc. was an extreme problem. Had we known this, we would not have rented this property. This fact should have been disclosed in the listing information. The second issue was that the property does not have air condition. The temps were in the 80's and 90's most of the time we were there, and it did not cool down enough at night to make sleeping comfortable. We rented for four nights, but left after three nights. We wouldn't stay at this property again unless the access was improved, and it was in the fall or winter when A/C was not an issue. |
