Stroll down Alii Drive and you will find a variety of shops and restaurants. Nearby restaurants include Splashers Grill, The Fish Hopper, Huggo's, Don the Beachcomber, Kona Inn Restaurant, Kona Canoe Club, Outback Steakhouse, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Island Lava Java, and Bongo Bens Island Cafe and the list can go on.
But the town of Kailua also "hides" some very important Hawaii Island historic spots. both the Hulihee Palace are located on Alii Drive. King Kamehameha I spent his last years living near the current site of the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. The Ahuena Heiau, located on the grounds of the hotel, is a reconstructed temple rebuilt by Kamehameha himself and is on the register of National Historic Landmarks.
The Kailua Bay pier is a short 10-minute walk, from which most of the boat excursions on the Big Island's west coast depart (snorkel, whale watch, dinner cruise). The pier is the starting and finishing point of the Ironman World Championship (October) and a great place to watch the sunset.

The unit was clean, the kitchen was packed with absolutely everything we needed and the lanai was a perfect spot for breakfast. We were concerned that the car traffic would be pretty disruptive, but the sound of the waves crashing seems to drown out all the street noise. Light Hawaiian music came form the restaurant next door, which was a wonderful addition. Excellent location, right in the middle of town next to unlimited shops and restaurants.

The suite was newly and beautifully renovated and maintained. We had a car for the week to get to the spectacular beaches north of Kona and would reccomend the same.

Wonderful view of the ocean, where we were able to watch dolphins in the morning while enjoying coffee and breakfast. The condo had all the dishes, utensils, etc that we needed, and also had useful items such as beach towels, coolers, mats, beach chairs, and sunscreen. Walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and activities. Loved our stay here!

Restaurants and shops were in walking distance, and the ocean crashed ashore right across the road. The suite was well equipped and clean, and our contact with the rental agency was very successful.

Stayed for 5 days in January, 2015 Nice to find a place on short notice in the busy season.We enjoyed sitting on the Lanai and listening to the live music from Lava Java right next door and almost feeling the spray from the surf on the beach at the same time! The condo was fairly well stocked although could have used a few more items in the kitchen such as a potato peeler and large salad bowl.

Any prior concerns about lack of dishes, etc were completely addressed and the unit was wonderfully appointed. Also, some very nice little touches set out by the Boundless management company which I did not expect in a condo rental, but appreciated so much. Can't think of a much better way to spend vacation than waking up and drinking my Kona coffee on that spacious lanai with the spectacular view!

It's ocean front, so the waves are breaking 60 ft away across Alii Dr. You do get some street noise, worse in the AM. Surprisingly, if you're sleeping in the living room, the surf can be more disruptive than the street noise. But the view from the lanai as you have your morning coffee is completely worth the price of admission! Kona Alii is perfectly situated in Kailua Village to access the entire "strip" from Coconut Grove Ctr to the Pier on foot. And the pool is the best I've seen in Kona.

WE KNOW KONA ALII VERY WELL. OUR FRIENDS OWN IN THERE SINCE IT WAS BUILT. THE VIEW IS MUCH BETTER AND MORE PRIVACY FURTHER UP. BEING AN OWNER OF A VACATION RENTAL ON ALII DRIVE I HAVE A FEW SUGGESSTIONS. A LARGER TV IN THE LIVING ROOM AND REARRANGING THE FURNITURE. THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN SIT ON THE COUCHES WAY ACROSS THE ROOM AND WATCH THE SMALL TV. WE MOVED TWO OF THE CHAIRS OVER CLOSER AND PUT A MAKE SHIFT COFFEE TABLE IN BETWEEN THEM SO WE COULD WATCH TV. THEY SHOULD GET BETTER CABLE CHANNELS TOO. THEY CAN EXPAND WHAT THEY HAVE THERE.ALSO A TV IN THE BEDROOM WOULD BE GOOD TOO. OVERALL IT WORKED FOR US. THE TOILET IN THE GUEST BATH WAS TURNED OFF WHEN WE GOT THERE SO MY HUSBAND TURNED IT ON AND IT RAN ALL THE TIME SO YOU MAY WANT TO HAVE THAT CHECKED AND REPAIRED. THE KITCHEN WAS STOCKED GOOD, NICE KING BED WAS A PLUS TOO. THANKS

Stayed for 17 days in February, 2012 This unit needs huge maintenance: no ventilation for dryer, washer knob was broken, plumbing problem in kitchen(backup in sink). Could not cook or use water there; air conditioner caused water to bubble on ceiling and walls; kitchen utensils had rust on some utensils for cooking. Bed VERY uncomfortable.This was not a was a daily nightmare.

Stayed for 16 days in January, 2012 This property management company is very difficult to contact by telephone, and we also had to call them a week before our stay to receive our directions and access code, as that information had not been sent to us. They did not contact us at all during our stay to check on whether we had any problems. The condo did not have WIFI, telephone, or I POD docking station - amenities that should have been included for the price we were paying. The general cleanliness was poor - dishes and pots, pans etc needed washing before use. The washer/dryer need to be replaced, and a ceiling fan would make the bedroom more comfortable. The sliding door was very difficult to move, and the lever did not work on one set of window panes in the bedroom, so they could not be opened from the inside or locked. No deadbolt on the main door either, so the security could be improved. Although we liked the location, we felt that this unit was not worth the price!

Warning signs thru out on what's broken, what not to use or threats of fines and charges. Sheets felt stiff, like never washed and cheap. Only half roll kitchen paper towels, few rice grains in salt shaker. Not even silverware drawer. Furnishings had NO ALOHA WHAT SO EVER!! BAD BAD juju feeling. Plus cleaning fees exorbitant for nothing to clean! No toiletries provided like other vacation condos. Overall waste of $.
