Family from Virginia A guest from Arlington, VA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012 We enjoyed our stay. Old house but well maintained and decorated. On the positive side, the kitchen is very well equipped. There is a second refrigerator on screen porch. It rained the day we arrived and we planned to grill. The caretaker loaned us her grill pan so we could cook inside. Only place we've rented with sharp knives for those who cook. Very nice dock and kids caught fish every day. Not allowed use of crab traps. On the negative side, internet and iphone reception was spotty. Those who needed to work went to the library. There is not enough comfortable seating for 5 adults to watch Nats play together. Low water pressure in Master bath. No showers upstairs so everyone used the shower in twin bedroom. No twin bed suitable size for adults.No diving board although the picture seems to show one. It had been removed. Since our grandsons are swimmers that was a priority for us. Most objectionable thing was dog poop in yard. We don't have a dog and played family baseball and soccer games. A little remote for quick milk and bread runs. Not suitable for 5 adults but would be okay for lots of kids. We won't rent again needless to say. |

Beautiful views, Charming house A guest from Lancaster, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 Duxbury Point is a very charming "English-like Manor" home (owners are English) on a beautiful piece of property with amazing water views from inside and outside the home. When you're pool side, you're just a few feet away from the Bay. My family spent the week by the pool, enjoying the views of the Bay, reading, playing, grilling and eating. The grill is only a few feet away from the pool and close by on the deck is a picnic table with umbrella where we ate most of our meals where we continued to enjoy the amazing views. The view across the Bay is all undeveloped land where we sighted a couple of bald eagles when out on a canoe ride. We took advantage of the $250 credit provided by the owner for equipment rental at a local sporting goods store. Our canoe was delivered to the house and picked up at the end of the week for an additional fee. The house inside is full of character. The two upstairs bathrooms are very spacious and are each equipped with tubs with hand held shower heads. There are two staircases in the home. One is a spiral staircase in family/living room to the upstairs. The other is a regular staircase located in the twin bedroom downstairs. The downstairs master bedroom shares a bath w/walk-in tub, single sink with a room with two twin beds. The kitchen is small not enough space for my family of 5 to eat in but we preferred eating in the dining room with water views or outside on the deck. It comes equipped with a smooth electric counter top, double wall ovens, two refrigerators (one outside in the screened-in area, adjacent to the kitchen). All the bedrooms are spacious. The mattress in the downstairs master bedroom is very comfortable. Each room has its own individual air conditioning (a/c) control device. The a/c worked very well. Internet connection is achieved by plugging a device into the laptop. The caretaker, Bonnie, lives on the property adjacent to the home and she is delightful and very helpful. |
