Adequate
A guest from Sachse, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in December, 2013
The temperature was very cold during the weekend and the house never got warm. However, there were plenty of blankets provided. There is a fancy, gourmet kitchen which I would love at home but we don't cook on vacation so we only used the coffee pot. The furnishings in the rest of the house is sparse but adequate.

2013 5th Annual Galveston Vacation
A guest from Austin, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in October, 2013
The kitchen and bathrooms floors and counters were not cleaned. Dead roach in the silverware drawer. We had to wash all the utinsels before they could be used. The blankets/comforters/towels were stained or torn. Did not meet my same experience from previous rentals in Galveston. I would recommend it if the cleanliness/linens were addressed.

The property needed to be cleaned better. Needs new bedding. More couches would be nice too. The house was spacious. Kitchen was nice but the refrigerator doesn't cool right.I also saw roaches upstairs in the bathroom.

enjoyed our stay just hated parking
Luisa S. from Arlington, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in August, 2013
Had some trouble with parking. We were told that we had 4 spaces but the neighbors took up all front parking most of the weekend and even parked in our driveway one night. I tried calling a bunch of numbers never got threw did leave a voicemail never got a call back. Other than that we loved the house looked like something in a scary movie so made our stay exciting. The Floors were a little dirty. Didn't have much toilet paper or trash bags. But did love that they had a play pen and 2 highchairs for the 2 babies we had. They had plenty of towels for the 12 of us. And the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. One of the remotes weren't working and they did come out and drop batteries off which was nice. The parking was the main frustrating part wish we would've had asigned parking a towing unforced. We had to park across the street.

Plenty of space
Jodi N. from Beaumont, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in August, 2013
We had 14 people in our group, this house had plenty of room for everyone. It met all our needs. The house was beautiful, but I think that the cleaning people could have done a better job, the floors didn't look like they had been cleaned. Overall, it was a good stay, and we would stay here again.

Pros: Home is very historic and has the old time charm; very nice updated kitchen; very clean and has most of what you need.Cons: Missing toaster, no interior blinds on windows (just old exterior shutters that don't work well); firm beds and older linens; worn out towels and bath rugs; tub is damaged and just looks shoddy; living room fan not working; several beds are just mattresses for pullout--only sleeps 7 on real beds; overall it needs some attention and updating.

Wonderful Vacation But Dirty House
Ashley B P. from Fort Worth, Texas recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013
Overall very satisfied with the rental unit, it had a great location and had great amenities. But very dissatisfied with how dirty the house was. There was dust everywhere including fans, tv's, tables, just everything. Sheets were stained and old. Also it does have a/c but it doesn't cool very well, the upstairs was fine but downstairs was hot, had to use portable fans. Other than that it was a great home, great space for 15 people.

Great house, great location!
Reviewed by: Andrea P. recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013
We stayed at the 1886 Victorian Home for a family reunion. Rather than being scattered around in different hotels, we were able to stay together in one large, well equipped house. The kitchen allowed us to save money by avoiding costly restaurants. Everyone was really impressed with its character and history. Despite its age it was in excellent condition. The location was convenient for both the Seawall and the Strand. Each morning a few of us would go for a walk down to the Seawall where we'd admire the houses along the way. The children enjoyed playing at the park across the street. Overall, it was a much nicer experience than staying in a boring hotel!

Needs a little improvement
Carol W. from Burleson, Texas recommends this property.
Stayed for 12 days in June, 2013
We enjoyed our time in Galveston. The 1886 Victorian house was a great property. The only issues were in the worn linens, holes and bare spots on them. The couch closest to hallway has something on back of a cushion that smelled and looked gross. Didn't find it till day before last but kept smelling it. Also AC return in bedroom was filthy. Rest of house was comfy and great. We would definitely rent it again.

Galveston over Memorial Day Weekend
A guest from The Woodlands, Texas recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in May, 2013
Overall we had a very good experience for a group of fifteen people. The park across the street was convenient and extended the outside space for the property. Parking at the front of the house was no problem at all although it did not have a garage or driveway. The kitchen was spacious enough for four adults to prepare meals. We could walk a couple blocks to The Strand for our morning coffee and a mile to the beach.

Beautiful and completely furnished
A guest from Austin, Texas recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013
We weren't sure just what utensils and appliances we'd need to bring with us. Turns out -- none of them. Coffee maker? They have it. Coffee maker with grinder? They have that too. Flatware, mugs, even seasonings. The microwave wasn't connected to power, which was a mild disappointment. But overall a beautiful house, beautifully furnished that leaves the guest wanting very little.

Galveston Vacation
A guest from Claremore, Oklahoma recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in April, 2013
The house held a lot of people comfortably for sleeping and eating. Nice big kitchen. Unfortunately microwave did not work and the house was dirty when we arrived (frig dirty, floors dirty, one bed with dirty sheets). Mainly a good experience and great time had by all. Was unable to get the property management company personnel to return phone calls, even though I was told on arrival that someone would be available over the weekend if needed. Left 2 phone messages with no answer back. Did not even get a return phone call on Monday or Tuesday during regular business hrs. Did mention these things on departure to company. Hope next tenants will have better customer service.

over all a great stay
Rebecca J. from Lake Charles, Louisiana recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in March, 2013
The house had plenty of room for our very large family! The central location of the house was very close to many of the attractions. It is a very beautiful home. Being a very old house it was drafty so some of the doors slam and rattle but that could be expected of such an old home. The kitchen had anything we possibly could have needed (other than food, obviously)the only recommendations I could suggest would be a few of the mattresses could definitely use replacing and there should be a small TV in every room. The room with the twin beds is an obvious choice for kids but there was no TV for them to watch movies. Luckily we did bring a small TV and dvd player of our own just in case. Over all I would say the house was fantastic for our large group and everyone enjoyed the house and the vacation

The property was a cool place to stay while we were there but the house need a deep cleaning. The windows needed to be cleaned and the shutters wouldn't close on some of the windows. People could see in the house at night when the lights were on. Downstairs was always cold and upstairs was comfortable. I guess overall it was alright for what we paid.

Robert S. from Austin, Texas recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in October, 2012
The house had a great location just off Broadway, but very quiet. Friendly neighbors and a safe neighborhood. The kitchen was very nice and appointed with good appliances. The porches in front and rear helped us gather outside and enjoy the late October weather. I gave the property a 3 on cleanliness because the A/C return air grate was dirty as were the ceiling fan blades (nice high ceilings and hard to get to, but must be maintained). Bathrooms in this old house were clean and very nice. We had one problem with an electric recepticle overheating and we took the recepticle off and separated and taped the wires to prevent further problems. We notified the management company and they asked if we needed it fixed right away ... we declined and they said they would schedule an electrician to take care of it before the next renter moved in. Billie Archuleta with the Home Compnay was very helpful and professional in the reservation process.

Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012
My family of 14 stayed in this home and it was more than enough room for all of us. The home seems to have older furniture except for the kitchen, which seems to me more updated. The only thing we were not satisfied with was the old tub with shower. Its very slippery and hard to get out of at times and the shower in that tub did not feel nice. However, the other shower was more up to date and was very nice. Overall, we were very pleased with this home and its Victorian look! If we ever visit Galveston again, we would most certainly stay here again!!

Our family and friends gathered for a weekend farewell "party" for our son who was leaving for boot camp. We were a party of 12 who slept comfortablly in the spaciuos 4 bedroom home, however we did try to inflate the "anywhere bed" but could not get the compressor to work. We are a family who loves to cook, and the kitchen was fully equiped! I loved the historical area, we were only blocks from the Strand and maybe a mile from the beach, it was nice to be able to go in any direction and find interesting activities. I wish we could have stayed longer, we really enjoyed our stay.

our stay at the 1886 house in Galveston was for the most part a very enjoyable experience! Billie Archuleta was an amazing represenative of your company and it was a pleasure to work with her!The only downside I can think of, is that the floors were very dirty, and there was quite a bit of dust in the corners, baseboards, under and on the furniture, etc. The throw rugs were also dirty. I only bring this up because I think this is the ONLY thing that would have made our stay more comfortable.Again, we enjoyed our time in Galveston and it was great to have such an accomadating home away from home.Thank you!
