Nice, Relaxing Getaway A guest from Houston, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2012 We stayed in the rental for a long weekend with our 2 kids. The location is very good- walking distance to the beach, park and Del Mar Village. It was great to have 2 bedrooms, a bath and a kitchen for the price of just 1 hotel room. The deck was nice too and had a grill. However, it was unseasonably warm during our stay and the A/C was not working well. There were portable fans in the living room and bedrooms, but, it was still pretty hot inside. Also, the parking is very tight. We rented an SUV and getting in and out of the driveway was a bit challenging every time we wanted to drive some where because it's on a very narrow street. Overall, it was a nice stay and we enjoyed the sunset view and the sound of the ocean. |

The cottage is actually a garage apartment with a deck spanning the width of the place, in the owners back yard.They were very friendly - welcoming us with a bottle of wine, very nice touch - and made us feel right at home. Also very helpful was use of the laundry and a parking spot! The property is well-kept and in a perfect location - a quick walk to the beach, restuarants, and the village of Del Mar. A couple of minor things: though we read the sign instructing us how to lock/unlock the kitchen door, we still struggled with it (no big deal - there is another door to enter/exit through) We couldn't figure out how to use the DVD on our own. And it appeared that the smoke detector had been removed from the hallway (possibly moved elsewhere? Didn't see it.) Still, I would give 128 1/2 12th Street an A, 5 star rating, and would most definitely was a lovely stay. |
