Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 26 days in August, 2014 This cottage was exactly what we were looking for. The location was perfect and the fact that we were able to walk to the ocean was priceless. It allowed us to spend our time outdoors on the beach, which is exactly where we wanted to be! The home provided the perfect amount of space and the amenities were great. Having a fully stocked kitchen is such an added bonus when traveling, so you do not have to dine out every night. We did, although, enjoy some of the great restaurants that were just down the street. La Jolla is such a great community and we loved feeling like one of the locals. We appreciate the work Seabreeze did in matching us up with the perfect place for us.
A guest from Zapopan, Jalisco recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2014 My family and I really enjoy our time in this apartment. There are many services around this place. It is really near from the beach. And we had all the necesary things like sheets, towers, cooking utensils, etc,
Kathy M. from Gilbert, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2014 What a great place for us to stay. Very clean and convenient to the beach, restaurants and shopping. Thankfully a very detailed map was sent to me or it would of been difficult to find. We had a great time and will definitely do this again next year.
A guest from Scottsdale, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2014 Fantastic beach house only a couple of minutes walk to the sand. Perfect place to stay to explore La Jolla or just chill and relax on the beach or on the private patio. Property was clean and as described. Good communications with management prior to arriving. Would highly recommend.
A guest from Bethel, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in January, 2014 Very nice little home in a great location. Walking distance to 2 beautiful beaches. Home was very comfortable and clean. Homeowner has a great attitude and very helpful. If you're looking to stay in La Jolla, this is a great place!!! See you next year...
Paul P. from Boulder, CO does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2014 My wife and I stayed there for a week. Our overall impression of the unit was very negative. It had some positives: it is close to downtown La Jolla, close to La Jolla Blvd, and a short walk to the beach. The bedroom has two closets and two dressers and a very comfortable king sized bed too.But there were too many negatives: the stairway up to the unit has a broken stair and was dangerous. The kitchen was rundown, no dishwasher, old cabinets and an ancient stove. The bathroom desperately needed updating, with a thrift-store quality cabinet, and a really goofy shower that had no handrail, and frankly, felt dangerous to shower in. The lighting throughout the unit was terrible, with no reading lights in the bedroom, lightbulbs (CFLs) which threw out a harsh white light, cheap lighting fixtures, and the outdoor stairway light was totally inadequate. The window blinds were cheap (some broken), and with the combination of cheap lighting, cheap furniture and a rundown kitchen, the unit felt depressing. The entire unit had a thrift store feel to it.There was a moderate amount of street noise, you could hear the traffic from the main street. The location felt a little industrial. There were no ocean views from the apt. I think the saddest thing about this apt., was that it has lots of potential, but the owners took the cheap path, and ended up with a very dreary unit.
Property Manager Response: Response from Seabreeze Vacation Rentals, LLC We appreciate this guests feedback and after showing it to the owner of the property, he agreed to address many of the concerns that were brought to our attention. The loose step on the outdoor stairway has been fixed and lighting has been added to insure our guests safety, the bathroom cabinets have been updated, new lighting was added throughout (including reading lights in the bedroom), the window blinds have been replaced with brand new curtains and black out curtains were added in the bedroom for our guests comfort. In addition, a complete exterior remodel has just been completed which included new insulation and siding around the entire house as well as brand new double paned windows. This addition has helped to greatly reduce any exterior noise that may have been an issue in the past.
Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 15 days in January, 2014 My girlfriend and I had a great stay at this La Jolla cottage. It was awesome to be so close to the beach and to have our own private patio. We were there for two weeks visiting old friends and seeing the sights so it was really nice to have our own parking space as well. The kitchen was great and we cooked and grilled most of our dinners at home. This is a great rental and alternative to a hotel. You feel right at home.
Reviewed by: Sara Gay D. recommends this property. Stayed for 13 days in December, 2013 Overall I have to give some mixed reviews. The management was excellent. The cottage was comfortable except for issues with the floor heater on cold nights. The location was ideal in many ways but there are problems with drunks in the alley either spilling out of the bar across the street or from the liquor store. One night there was a frightening brawl that brought at least two squad cars This was unfortunate and sleep disruptive. Otherwise the location would be perfect
A guest from Ballyea, Ennis recommends this property. Stayed for 90 days in September, 2013 The cottage is in a superb location, beside one of the nicest beaches in the area. It is also next to the bus stop where you can almost get anywhere in San Diego. The area felt safe and was mostly quiet. The apartment had everything you would need for a vacation or longer stay. The bed is very comfy. The operations manager was very helpful if there were any problems.A few small cons, it is a little dated and some of the furniture could be newer. The walls are very thin so if anyone or cars are moving outside it was quite loud at night. The thin walls meant it got cold at night in the winter months. The drains in the bathroom sometimes had a bad odour.Overall though it is a lovely place to stay in La Jolla for 1 or 2 people and I would definitely recommend it to others.
A guest from Riyahdh, Saudia Arabia recommends this property. Stayed for 24 days in August, 2013 I had quit a good experience with the property, the location is great and the management were responsive. However the general condition of the property was not that good but the furniture and home appliances were very good.We found the property quit small for our family (me, my wife and 3 children) however I think the size wil be perfect if it was me and my wife alone.I definitely recommend the property.
A guest from Ypsilanti, MI recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 A nice little spot to spend a few days. Off the main drag somewhat, so it was a quiet retreat. Restaurants & shops are a walkable distance.
Sally L. from Sebastopol, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 We were happy here but we might upgrade to another property next time. It was clean and comfortable and we loved the ocean breeze. The gate does need to be fixed, as does one of the stairs. We like to read so would have liked more light in the apartment but all in all it was an adequate rental.
A guest from Bronx, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 Overall I had a great experience at this little cottage. A few things you need to know. The apt is above a garage. I didn't realize that when I rented it. Someone uses the garage to store supplies which they come to take out every morning. You'll feel the garage door opening and closing through out the day. There was also a lot of noise. To access the apt. you enter from the alley way which gets noisy in the morning with leaf blowers, garbagemen, etc... And at night you can hear people talking as they walk up and down the alley. Some people hung out in the parking lot across the street from the bedroom window at night and would talk. I would've liked it to be a little more quiet. The location was amazing though. The beach was right down the road. There is also an amazing restaurant right around the corner called Promiscuous Fork. It is very close to everything you need or may want to do in La Jolla. The outside of the apt was pretty rundown looking. The inside of the apt was very cute though. They could use a mirror above the sink in the bathroom though. I would definitely go back to this apt but maybe on the off season when things aren't quite as expensive.
Reviewed by: Hugo J. recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2013 We really enjoyed our stay at this cute cottage. It's so close to Windansea Beach and was a better value than a hotel, especially because we had our dog with us. The private patio was perfect for our dog and for BBQ's. We'll be renting with Sea Breeze again in the future. Their operations manager was very attentive to one request we had and we loved the convenience of being able to rent bikes from them!
Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2013 This is a quaint little cottage in a beach community which was perfect for the three of us; me, my wife, and our dog. It has really nice little private fenced in patio which was great for the dog. Inside, it was clean and very comfortable. Nothing fancy, but perfect for us. Every morning we would cook breakfast and then take a walk down to Windansea Beach, which is our new favorite beach. Compared to local hotels in the area, this is a way better deal as you get way more space and amenities for a cheaper price. I would highly recommend this vacation rental and we plan on returning.
A guest from Los Altos, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in November, 2012 This vacation rental had everything we needed for our stay. It's perfect for a small family. We came with our 10 month old baby. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and pans. It was only a 5 min walk to the beach, and the private patio was great for our dog. The property is not that new, but well maintained. The bed is really big and comfortable. The only small thing they didn't have was a hairdryer. There's an excellent restaurant (The Promiscuous Fork), just a few steps from the property. I would definitely stay here again.
Eric M. from Burnaby, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in November, 2012 My wife and I spent a week at this place. We really enjoyed it. We were looking for a place to rest. Do lots of reading and walking and this place did just that for us. It's an older place but it is like living in your first apartment and reminded both of us of that. The only challenge was this particular unit was on a lane and from time to time there was some noise. But the beach is about a 5 minute walk and the town center is about a 15 minute walk. We did have a car but wanted to get exercise while there.
Todd and Vanessa B. from Fountain Hills, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2012 The place was very clean and the location is excellent, beautiful street to stroll down to the beach, no major roads to cross. The restaurant behind it, called the Promiscuous Fork has great food and its super convenient. The property is lacking personality, close to the feeling of a motel 6 room. Although it was absolutely spotless, the place lacks a lot of maintenance. It's really small but ok for a couple, there are no mirrors that you can use so getting ready is a challenge. The kitchen lacks some essentials like a chopping board and a few more things. Unfortunately the bedroom windows back to the alley and you can hear people searching the trash bins every morning at about 5:30... The trash bins are right outside the window, we didn't get bad smells, just a ton of flies. Since its upstairs it gets really hot during the summer months but starts to cool off at about 10 pm so you get some comfy sleep. No AC as most California properties. If you are planning just to sleep there is fine, but it is not a very comfortable place to stay with more than 2 people. The cleaning fee seemed pretty high as well as the pet fee compared to other rentals. It does have a nice private little patio with a grill and table.
A guest from Surprise, AZ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2012 Place was close to beach and clean. But for the money we paid you should not have to sweat when you come home. At night it did cool down enough to sleep, but daytime was to hot with one fan that worked and one fan that only worked on low. I own rentals and you think they could put a mirror above the sink in the bathroom for my wife and me. If you lean forward and turn your head to the left you have a bathroom mirror. Almost killed our self on the step coming down the stairs that slopes down. (fun when wet) Bathtub needs a mat as well be careful when stepping in and out. They need to put some money into a place collecting 1600.00 a week. I guess if you are a surfer this is your place. For us we will look for a place that at the very least the owner wants to take pride in his rental like we do. Show a little work done in the place and maybe it rents all the time.
Property Manager Response: Response from Seabreeze Vacation Rentals, LLC We did experience an extremely hot few weeks in August which is very rare for our area, especially this close to the beach. While we can not control the weather, we have made the other requested improvements to this property including; adding a mirror above the sink, fixing the loose step, adding a bathtub mat, and other various touch-ups throughout. We appreciate this guests feedback so that we may improve the rental experience for future guests.
A guest from Deira, Dubai does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 Great location for the Windandsea beach and a really nice neighbour. However, the lane the cottage backs onto is very noisy so you need earplugs when the windows are open (during the summer months). I struggled to sleep well here as there are so many people in the lane at night. The bed linen was not clean, there was a lot of pet fur in the sheets and setee however the cleaners revisited and fixed this problem with new linen and a thorough clean.
A guest from Phoenix, AZ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 The location of the rental is great but the overall condition of the unit is run down and in need of some overdue TLC (broken kitchen counter tiles, missing window screens, peeling paint, etc.) The pictures are a bit deceiving in that that unit looks bigger than it really is. They did allow us to bring our dog which was a plus.
Pat D. from Cloverdale, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 We enjoyed our week in La Jolla and the 453 location was all we hadhoped for...location,location,location...near the beach with La Jolla &Pacific Beach minutes away...Perfect!
Tony B. from Brigham City, UTah recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in June, 2012 Enjoyed the rental very much! Only issue is the mirror in bathroom very hard to get ready in. There needs to be a mirror over desk or somewhere so ppl can easily do makeup and hair. Rental was adorable and clean. Net stopped working several times during stay and was frustrating but they were quick to get it fixed. Our Pug, Mousse loved the private patio! Bed was sooooo amazing and comfy!!! Will be back!!
Melanie Alo and S. from Bellaire, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 very convenient to everything. no view from the rental of the beach, on the back alley and was a bit noisy at times. property was clean, but looked a bit rundown. just a quick walk to the beach, did not know that the beach was rocky, had to go elsewhere for the kids to swim.
Property Manager Response: Response from Seabreeze Vacation Rentals, LLC The landscape of Windansea Beach changes quite a bit during different times of the year. Sometimes it can be rocky and sometimes it can have a great amount of sand. You can always walk about 5 minutes to the south to find a sandy beach if Windansea is too rocky. We hope this information helps our future guests.
A guest from Lititz, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2012 We loved our little beach cottage! It was very clean and good location. My family didn't want to leave. La Jolla beaches are the best! Thanks for a great vacation.
Peter H. from Baltimore, Ontario recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2012 We were visiting our son, who lived on Nautilus, one street over from 453 Westbourne. A short walk via the laneway was all that was needed for him to join us for breakfast and dinner each day. A great location with a short walk to the Windansea Beach, or a short drive to downtown La Jolla. Great keyless entry and lock-up system.
A guest from Munchen, Germany recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in March, 2012 cute little cottage in perfect location. had some ants from the garden in the apartment and the heating system has no gradual regulation. Other than that we had an overall great experience.
Property Manager Response: Response from Seabreeze Vacation Rentals, LLC Upon receiving this review, the garden was sprayed for ants to prevent any future similar issues and assure customer satisfaction.
A guest from Mentor, Ohio recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in March, 2012 We were very happy with our stay. It was in a perfect location to walk to the beach at the corner to have coffee in the morning and to see the sunset in the evening, or just a 10 minute drive to our other favorite area, Pacific Beach and Mission Bay. The rental is a little dated, but everything we expected was there, and working, and the bed was very comfortable. We would stay there again.
A guest from NW, Washingotn DC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2012 While the property was clean and the management was responsive, overall there was a rundown feeling to the place. Windows didn't lock; blinds were in disrepair, the pilot lights went out and no matches were provided to relight them, which resulted in an unpleasant gas smell. The overstuffed couches were uncomfortable and depressing. The layout was inconvenient. The bathroom mirror had no catch and consequently got in our way. The exterior stairs felt spongy and dangerous. Great location, though.
A guest from Silver Spring, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in February, 2012 Perfect for what we needed as it was close to shops, restaurants, and of course, Windansea Beach, which we loved. We also enjoyed some really nice BBQ's in the patio. Property was clean upon our arrival and we enjoyed how comfortable everything was.
Jon I. from Oslo, Oslo recommends this property. Stayed for 25 days in January, 2012 Wonderful location in beautiful La Jolla. Maybe not the place to stay if your looking for a youthful crowd, but very close to the best surfbeach in California, shops and food!
A guest from Tallahassee, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2011 Great little place in a very convenient location. We loved being able to walk to the beach and all the restaurants and really appreciated the discounts we got at the restaurants with our SeaBreeze VIP card. Also, the private patio was perfect for our dog. We will be back!
A guest from Show Low, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in October, 2011 For the same price as a hotel in the area, we got a private patio for BBQ's, our own living room, a kitchen to cook our own meals (which saved us so much money!), and a very comfortable bed. In addition, we were walking distance to some great local restaurants and Windansea beach was just a few minute walk away as well. Thanks SeaBreeze for a great vacation at a great price. We can't wait to come back!
A guest from Charlotte, NC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2011 We felt that the pics on the website imply that it is a cleaner, larger and more modern home than it actually is. Being from the east coast, I would have liked to known that this property did not include an A/C unit. Due to the lack of an A/C unit, we were forced to sleep with the windows open and deal with a lot of outside noise(talking, skate boarding, traffic, garbage trucks etc...interupting most nights sleep). The cleanliness of this property was not to my standards and therefore caused me to clean the home myself. Overall, this property was presented on the website in a deceptive manner. We will definitely not rent this property or any other property from this management company in the future.
A guest from Mesa, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in July, 2011 We loved the location as you could walk down to Windansea Beach in a few minutes as well as some great local restaurants. Also, we really enjoyed the private patio for BBQ's and it offered some outdoor space for us to leave our dog while we were out. Hope to come back soon!
Megan S. from Tucson, AZ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 We really enjoyed our stay in La Jolla and being able to walk to Wind and Sea beach was the best. We also walked to "the village" for dinners and shopping. The apartment was nicely furnished and very clean. Towels and linens were provided and the kitchen had most of the things you would need to prepare meals. However, you should definitely bring along a knife (the curved seafood knives are not the most utilitarian of implements). A cutting board would also be good.We discovered some maintenance issues during our one week stay and the management was very quick to respond to poorly draining pipes and screens that had fallen off the windows, however, we didn't bother to report the rest because it was a pain to spend the afternoon with a plumber in the apartment. We also discovered the oven did not work which would have been a bigger deal if it weren't so hot that it would have been crazy to turn on an oven. A fan would be a nice amenity that you could bring with you.The biggest disappointment had nothing to do with Sea Breeze or the actual apartment. This apartment is located on an alley and very close to the busy La Jolla Blvd. It was super loud- the windows didn't really block much noise and between the businesses using dumpsters constantly, sirens, and drunken people staggering out of the bar or liquor store we weren't able to get very good sleep (even with earplugs). The noise was really the only thing that would make me think twice about this property.
Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2011 A little piece of heaven?for us and our dog! A block away from the magnificent Windandsea Beach, this neighborhood is very peaceful, welcoming and pet friendly. Then just a quick 10-minute walk is La Jolla Village, with a ton of luxury shopping and dining options. You're also minutes from the BIrd Rock neighborhood, full of charming boutiques, cafes and bistros. The cottage was cozy but felt very roomy, lots of light, airy, with nice new comfy furniture and very well maintained. The private patio felt like a tropical sanctuary, exotic flowers and bamboo all around, perfect for enjoying drinks or a barbeque. We were equally as impressed with SeaBreeze and our property manager, who delivered top-notch customer service at every turn. All of our requests were handled quickly, efficiently and with a friendly attitude! It's rare to find that nowdays, so thank you to everyone at SeaBreeze for making us feel so welcomed and making sure our stay was nothing short of unforgettable! I highly recommend this property and the management company to anyone looking for a relaxing, hassle-free getaway in one of the most beautiful oceanside towns in California!
A guest from Denver, CO does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2011 This rental was VERY disappointing! The bed was so old it slumped in the middle, the towels, furniture and bedding was very cheap!! We didn't get any information upon arrival regarding how to use things like the remote (which was missing), or the laundry (which had a coin box but didn't actually cost anything). There's a hole in the bathroom leading down below to the garage - which we weren't aware we'd be staying over a garage! We ended up calling the police the last night we were there because a group of guys were yelling and cussing outside the thin windows, then proceeded to start throwing things at the window! It was a HORRIBLE experience - especially with a baby! The work done there was very poor - peeling paint, incomplete finishings, etc. It's also right behind a liquor store, and on a main road, so it was loud and did not feel very safe. We heard sirens several times a day (and at night) - and they were very loud. Overall I would not recommend this rental - it is clearly not overseen by someone who would stay there themselves. The beach is a long block away, and of course it's beautiful, but it's not a sandy beach - therefore not great to bring a family.
