A spacious, beautiful home in a wonderful location
Kathleen S. from San Ramon, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in July, 2016 The location of this home is ideal--a stunning view and close to where Manta-ray/snorkeling/dolphin adventures launch from, and centrally located on the Kona coast. The home is spacious and well appointed. The property could use a little TLC, however (e.g., painting, patio/hot-tub repairs (which the Property Manager indicates are scheduled), replacing worn/torn outdoor cushions and umbrella, repairing the safe). The property manager was very responsive to an urgently needed refrigerator repair, and was professional in all our interactions. Regardless of the needed maintenance, we had a lovely time at this property. The daily sunsets were spectacular!
Richard C. from El Dorado Hills, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 12 days in June, 2016 On arrival we found a dead decomposed dove in the pool and the toilet in the master clogged (they did provide a plunger). The spa was empty (leak) and when we filled it the exposed grout scratched everybody's legs. The pool needed replays tearing and the pool deck was cracked in several places and an area that should have been sodded in the pool area was exposed dirt. The BBQ was a $99 two burner with a Weber cover. The patio dinette set was a $399 K-mart special with multiple holes in the umbrella. The cushions in the patio chairs were rusted wherever there was a metal button. TV in the living room was a 37" cheapo and the other room had a 21" 40 year old tube TV. The handle on one of the refrigerators was broken and held on with plastic tape.. The wind chiller didn't work. The valance about the binds in the master was broken and hanging down. We did experience lots of cockroaches in the pool area and a centipede in the kitchen cabinet, but that can be expected in Hawaii. Generally the living, dining and bedroom furniture was OK and the new marble floor was a nice touch.
A guest from Santa Rosa, California recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in June, 2016 This is an amazing home in beautiful Keahue Estates with an amazing view! Everything about the property was perfect for my family of 5. Close proximity to stores made it so convenient. We would definitely stay at this home again and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great house with very nice amenities and a stunning view of the ocean. The sunsets in the hot tub were something we will never forget.
Sonia M. from Baton Rouge, LA recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in June, 2016 This home was absolutely fantastic. Spacious, accommodating to our needs. Each person has their own space. Wonderful kitchen to cook and mingle with others. The view was just um amazing. I highly recommend this home.
Gary C. from Escondido, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2016 Wonderful house, great ocean view, super pool/spa, large rooms. TV reception poor. Toilet seat broken. Overall a great week.
Property Manager Response: Response from West Hawaii Property Services Inc Aloha Gary,
Thank you for the review. It sounds like you enjoyed the home with a few minor glitches. However, you gave the home "1". This is a very negative rating. What can we do to improve?
Douglas H. from Lansdowne, ON recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in April, 2016 The house came as advertised. The pictures and descriptions were accurate. The view and the sunsets were gorgeous. We had three adult couples and the bedroom locations with separate bathroom facilities well away from each other provided plenty of privacy. The lanai area with the pool was an evening gathering place and enjoyed by all of us. A delightful spot and we would certainly book this place again if we make another visit to the Big Island. Location was ideal close to Kailua, with the snorkel beach close by although not within a reasonable walking distance. A shopping center plus restaurants are also very handy. We had questions about the pool and hot tub which the property manager answered quickly. The only issue I would note is that we're from Canada and recycling is a big deal to us and we would have liked some direction on how to do that properly with our recyclable items. You will also need a vehicle here. Nothing is really close enough to be within a reasonable walking distance although walking itself for recreation or exercise is easy and safe.
A guest from Murrells Inlet, SC recommends this property. Stayed for 29 days in February, 2016 We were blessed to return to Blue Hawaii for another full month in February - March 2016. The vacation was wonderful. Blue Hawaii is the perfect Kona home offering amazing sunsets. You can sit by the pool and watch the whales while grilling dinner purchased fresh from KTA (local supermarket)and the farmers market. The gourmet kitchen and outdoor space makes going out to dinner in a restaurants a burden - not a pleasure. Blue Hawaii is simply perfect for any size family. The photos, while impressive, do not do justice to this beautiful home. Cindy Krog, the manager, is such a detail person. Any problem is handled immediately and she goes the extra mile to make sure that your every need is met. You can tell that the homeowners love the home and give it the attention it deserves. Keauhou Estates is one of the premier neighborhoods on the Island and minutes away from fantastic restaurants and local farmers markets. We had lunch oceanfront nearly everyday. Try Kona Inn, Jackie Reys, Huggos and Canoe Club. FYI - we love Kona Costco! We will return again and again and count the days between trips..........
Silvia S. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in December, 2015 Blue Hawaii is a great home with an incredible view. When you first enter in the house, you don't think to be in a vacation home, because everything looks very high end and a kind of city-home. But when you open the courtains, you get lost in one of the best views that you can find and your feelings are: I'm in the perfect vacation spot, and I don't want to go away!!! On top of this, there is a great swimming pool, where we started and finished our days of sun and waves, and we didn't feel the urge to go out for dinner, because it is difficult to beat the serenity and the location of this beautiful house.
Reviewed by: Nancy P. recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2015 We were gratified to discover that the photos of this beautiful home were equal to our expectations. The three en-suite bedrooms were perfect for our family vacation, and having a hot-tub and pool right outside the kitchen door was fabulous. Even had a pool ring and rubber duck for our 8-month-old grandson. The furnishings were elegant and the kitchen well appointed with everything we needed. Such a lovely neighborhood?every home landscaped with Hawaii's colorful plants. Loved the walks and the views. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.
A guest from Murrells Inlet, SC recommends this property. Stayed for 30 days in February, 2015 Aloha....Words cannot describe a vacation on this Island and in this home. From the moment you turn into the neighborhood your spirits are lifted. Views are spectacular, food taste better when cooked in the gourmet kitchen or grilled on the lanai, you fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow - absolutely no stress to be found. You glance at the evening news or the newspaper and find that the world events are second to the beauty and peace of Hawaii - beauty and peace accentuated by this beautiful home. Cindy takes the extra steps to make sure that every need is met and when a problem occurs she is your best friend - never stopping until the problem is solved. We spent 30 glorious days in our home away from home and will continue to do so every year - as long as we are physically able. Mahalo to the owners and to Cindy - 2015 was our best vacation ever!
Margaret E. from Kennewick, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2014 We shared this home with another couple and had more space than we used. Everything about the home and rental experience was great. The kitchen is well appointed and has everything you need to eat at home, which we did nearly every meal for a week. The house is large, clean and located in a beautiful gated community. The views across the landscape to the Pacific were lovely day and night. We had an issue with the hot tub and the management was onsite within hours. The dryer takes a bit to get towels dry but not an issue for us. This is a great home for families wanting space or for couples looking for a peaceful home and area.
Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in July, 2014 A great property with a lot of space. The bedrooms are enormous, the outside living area well laid out and the baby grand is a great touch.
Matthew J. from Anchorage, AK recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2014 The house has a beautiful view and is very nice, but just to many roaches inside the house. I know it is Hawaii and the climate there is great for insects, but there were roaches every where all the time.
Reviewed by: Chris H. recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in April, 2014 A few other reviews of this place have mentioned the 'gasp' of incredulity when you open the door to this place. Let me assure you that it is real! When you open the front door and step onto the giant Chinese silk rug, you can see all the way to the back of the house then out to the ocean. The distance from the door to the back is overwhelming and a 'gasp' is involuntary! We have just purchased a house in our home country and we know that real estate photos can be deceiving. Let me assure you that the photos alongside the Blue Hawaii listing don't do the place justice. The house is in a secure compound, but is located on the western edge of the compound which means there are no houses between you and your view to the ocean. We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was perfect. The kitchen is well equipped, which makes you second guess whether you should eat out? In Kona, the restaurants are quite expensive as, besides food, they offer a great view. A view that is much better from the house you are staying in, so if you can cook, why pay for the view you already have!?Our favourite thing about the big island, was coming back to Blue Hawaii and shaking up our own cocktail, then relaxing in the hot tub until sunset.
A guest from Murrells Inlet, SC recommends this property. Stayed for 28 days in November, 2013 When you dream of an Island vacation your mind drifts to warm tropical breezes, umbrella drinks, clear blue pools and amazing ocean views. You see yourself sitting by the pool, book in hand, umbrella drink on the table occasionally looking up to watch a boat or kayak go by. Blue Hawaii makes this dream a reality. This home (our home away from home) is simply perfect. From the moment you pull into the driveway you know you are someplace special. My husband and I travel alone so we don't begin to use all the house has to offer but I can tell you ...........one family, two or just 8 friends can comfortably call Blue Hawaii home. Spacious, well appointed, gourmet kitchen, 3.5 baths, comfortable beds, media room, oceanview pool, hot tub and lanai...the house has it all! Soak up the sun then run downtown to Kona for a great lunch, return to read a book poolside before you begin Happy Hour and dinner at the house. One look at the gourmet kitchen and lanai and you will have a very hard time dining out. Stop at KTA (local grocery) and the farmers market then make a meal of a lifetime at home. The house is perfect due to the professional management provided by Cindy Krog. No one could be better at making sure your every need is met. And did I mention that we manage vacation properties on the SC coast so YES we know good management whe we experience it. We cannot wait to return, again and again. Blue Hawaii is the perfect vacation home and included in every dream we have of Hawaii. Ed and Karen Davis
Vicki S. from Wichita, KS recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 A wonderful house with tons of room. The view was great and we enjoyed the time spent by the pool and hot tub. We didn't want to leave to go sightseeing.
A guest from Morton, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2012 Wonderful home for a perfect Hawaiian Christmas vacation! Everything about this home was a treat - beautiful location, breathtaking view, wonderful lanai and pool area, very comfortable home. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here and can't wait to return! The home is located in a peacefully quiet neighborhood...but just minutes from the Kahaluu snorkel beach and a short drive away from Ali'i Drive and downtown Kailua-Kona. Great base for exploring the Kona coast. It was wonderful to return to a beautiful home away from home after snorkeling, whale watching, and beach-going. Enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and dining on the lanai. Don't miss the nearby (10 miles?) South Kona Fruit Stand.West Hawaii Property Services was easy to work with and professional. Only one minor problem our whole trip - hot tub wasn't heating upon our arrival. Due to the Christmas holiday and our decision not to call the "emergency" number on the holiday, it took a couple days to get in touch with the rental company, but they did send someone out promptly to tend to the hot tub after the holiday. The pictures do not do this home justice. It is a truly beautiful place. It was a treat for our small family of 3, but it would be equally comfortable for a bigger or extended family/friends traveling together.Mahalo!
A guest from Murrells Inlet, SC recommends this property. Stayed for 30 days in November, 2012 We spend an entire day traveling from our little town in South Carolina to Kona...this was our 20th year. This was our second year occupying Blue Hawaii and it really changed the trip. No longer were we traveling to Kona.....we were going home to Blue Hawaii. From the moment we opened the door we felt like we were home. This house is beyond compare; perfect in every way. As with every rental we did have a maintenance issue; the A/C decided to stop working but WOW....you would have thought the A/C was out in Cindy's own home. She is a wonderful, caring rental manager, one of the best. This house changes your vacation; from drinking morning Kona coffee on the lanai to having a glass of wine watching the sunset you find that you are reluctant to leave. Dinners on the lanai are so perfect, prepared in the most amazing kitchen, that you are reluctant to dine in one of Kona's fabulous restaurants. We plan on returning home to Blue Hawaii....again and long as they will have us! Ed and Karen Davis, Murrells Inlet SC
Reviewed by: Linda E. recommends this property. Stayed for 27 days in May, 2012 The house is very comfortable and the location exceptional. The pool area is especially lovely, with sweeping views of the Pacific. The management company was extremely responsive and professional. Questions or problems were resolved in a matter of hours. There are two to four stairs between the garage entry, living areas, and bedrooms, so the home may not suit everyone. We appreciated the separate central air conditioning units for each room. Overall, a great house in a very safe, convenient neighborhood.
Reviewed by: Keith S. recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in April, 2012 This was an amazing experience. The property management company said,"you will enjoy BignBlue it's very special," and the did not lie! The property was wonderful, the view amazing, the pool and hot tub were fantastic. We have not one bad thing to say about this. The location was close to the highway and groceries/ restaurants. Kailua is only 8 minutes away. We will definitely be back, it was worth every dime! The pictures can't even capture how spectacular this is, but they sure don't overstate it. If you're considering this house, do it, you won't be disappointed.
A guest from Murrells Inlet, SC recommends this property. Stayed for 30 days in November, 2011 This home completes your vacation experience. It is hard to find a more perfect home.... coupled with the fact that it is on a Tropical Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean..... Paradise. We have vacationed in Kona for the past 20 years and this home is the best by far. Every attention to detail with 360 degree views of the Pacific ocean, a beautiful pool and hot tub plus gourmet kitchen. Our goal....return to this home every year forever! Mahalo, Ed and Karen Davis
Property Manager Response: Response from West Hawaii Property Services Inc Mahalo so much for your review. We look forward to your next visit!
A view that wont quit, and entertaining space galore!
Maureen M. from LONGVIEW, TEXAS recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in August, 2011 This is an elegant home but comfortable also. The entire back wall of the house (master bedroom, living room, and dining room) is floor to ceiling glass with the most incredible view. We had breakfast on the lanai each morning and watched all the little boats as they headed out. The house is in a very nice gated community with lovely homes perched on the side of the hills. 10 Minutes down the hill to the shoreline. Loved the farmer's market.
