White Sands Cove -A Great Place
Reviewed by: Arthur H. recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2016 We came over from our home on the mainland to be with our visiting kids and grandkids (from the USA) who were staying just down the beach.Terri greeted us and got us all settled and then had a welcome drink with us. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our beautiful condo was a waterfront units and was well furnished, clean, and very comfortable. The bed was great. We did not even use the air conditioning. The many windows and breeze of the water was wonderful. The room and grounds were kept very nice. We will be back to this beautiful condo. Terri was wonderful from the initial hugs when we arrived to the hugs when we checked out.
A guest from Yellowknife, NT recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in March, 2016 Just enjoyed 8 very relaxing nights at White Sands Cove. Both my wife and were very happy with just about everything. Terry and the staff were all so welcoming and helpful it really made for a stress free week. Terri was very helpful in advising about various tours and organizing water taxis etc. It was very relaxing to stop by the bar in the evening to chat with Ruth and Miguela and enjoy Miguela's cooking. The resort size and location were ideal for us and the unit was roomy and well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. The Belize pro dive shop was great and provided great and friendly service. One of our best tropical vacations to date. Ambergris Caye was very laid back and the lack of traffic and chain restuarants etc added to the atmosphere. We will be returning soon hopefully.
Ilaria M. from Dolo, Venezia recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2015 The kindness of the staff, the quality of the services and the beauty of the location made my family and I feel like home. A piece of Paradise, I actually recommend White Sands Cove.
A Comfortable Place to Stay Where Service is a Priority
Lori S. from Berkeley, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2015 We had a great time at White Sands Cove. Our condo was comfortable, the pool was a great place to relax after our mornings' adventures, the bar and restaurant were delicious (although make sure you account for the time it takes to prepare as your food is made to order at the time), and the service was fantastic. Anything you needed, any activity you want, they will take care of you. We made use of the free bikes to get to town and nearby restaurants. We used the onsite free sea kayaks to go out to reef to snorkel. Everything was set up for us to have a great time. Just note that it is 2-1/2 miles from town, so you will either need to take water taxis/ferry, a golf cart, or bikes to get to San Pedro. But that is part of the adventure!
James C. from Ridgewood, NJ recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in March, 2015 Excellent experience, highly recommended for your first time in Ambergris Caye as they really take care of you and give you great insights at White Sands.
Todd B. from Maple Grove, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2015 We were pleased with all aspects of our stay. We received a warm welcome, the grounds were well groomed, the staff was friendly and helpful, the pool, deck, and pool bar were all very nice. Our unit was nicely furnished and everything was in good working order. When we were there in March of 2015 the entire island was battling a heavy influx of Sargasso (sea grass) that had a somewhat unpleasant aroma. Every lodging on the island, including WSC, was affected. The grounds staff was working hard at WSC, and at every other lodging, to remove and dispose of the Sargasso, but all were having trouble keeping up. We asked many people on the island, and they all confirmed this was the worst they had ever seen, and no one could really say when things would improve. This is not WSC's fault, or anyone's fault, and WSC is doing their part to deal with it, just something to be aware of.
Michael A. from San Francisco, California recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in January, 2015 Great location, far enough from the bustle of San Pedro but not too far. It's a short 15 minute bike ride from White Sands. The property is nicely appointed and very comfortable. Great views from the deck. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful when planning meals out or activities. The resort has a couple of kayaks that can be used to paddle out to the reef for snorkeling or in the mangrove lagoon on the western side of the Caye. Highly recommended overall.
A guest from Paradise Valley, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in May, 2014 We loved our stay at White Sands Cove, for several reasons: Location, value, friendliness, to name a couple. But I think what we loved most was the intimate feel. We made some great friends while we were there, and its because the resort is small enough to do that. We also LOVE LOVE LOVE Chica & Chico, the resort dogs. Of course we gave them lots of love (and treats!) to ensure we got a lot back. Doris & Miguella, the barkeep & cook, are lovely, as is Deborey, who would do anything for us. All of those things combined will bring us back again & drag friends with us. One feedback would be to get a few more chaise lounges by the pool, and consider a wider dinner menu. Miguella is too good a cook for you to have such small crowds for dinner.
Jeff S. from Humble, Texas recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2014 All arrangements at White Sands Cove were better than expected. On our next trip to Belize we will stay at White Sands'Please thank Ward, Jenna and Doris for making this one of our family's best vacations.
A guest from Lake Oswego, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2013 Wonderful location on San Pedro beach, north of town ~2 miles. Easy 20 min bike ride to town or water taxi 5 mins. Scuba diving booked by management, w/ pick up on pier off of WSC. Get groceries, beer, liquor locally, Everyone professional except for bartender whose lack of customer svc sharply contrasted to excellence of rest of staff. Took a mainland zip line/ cave tubing tour, really fun, but 3-4 hrs to get there and same time back for 2 hour excursion. Would rec staying on island. Would go back to WSC in a heartbeat! Great fun overall! Ward and Jenna wonderful managers.
Reviewed by: Greg M. recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in December, 2013 Ward and Jenna were extremely helpful and took care of everything we could need - great place to vacation - we will be back! Thanks
Corry S. from Dallas, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in December, 2013 The management staff alone was worth the 5 stars. If we needed something, they took care it, info, planning, trip reschedules, all of it. Our room was great. Very clean, great location, and you must have Doris make a fresh margarita for you by the pool.
Lisa T. from Ashburn, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2013 The property was very nice, well kept and looked just as advertised. The property management was very helpful and we made use of the free kayaks and bicycles. It is a bit of a trek into town (about 2 miles) which took an hour to walk or 15 minutes by bike, but we knew this going in. There are some restaurants nearby but choices are somewhat limited. The restaurant at the hotel was mediocre at best and very slow. All in all, we were very pleased with the unit, location and upkeep of the property and were glad we made the choice to stay here.
Reviewed by: A guest does not recommend this property. Stayed for 1 days in August, 2012 The biggest concern I had with this place was that all the sheets, towels and cloth furniture had a smell of something that was damp and not sufficiently dried. Everything was clean but I felt dirty after sleeping in the bed or sitting on sofa because of the smell. The location is far from town so you need to take a $5 on way water taxi ride to get into town. It was really nice to have a kitchen though and cook our own food. I did not like the food at the resort - wish there was more local food and fresh fruits. Scuba diving was good but a little short (~3 hrs) for the price - $40 and you still had to pay $10 fee for marine reserve and $10 rental fee for equipment. This location was ok but I would like to find something better for the price and they just really need to get new linens and towels.
suzan g. from dallas, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2012 WSC was wonderful! Beautiful, clean, relaxing. The management could not have been more helpful, kind and accommodating. Marlon (the property manager) is awesome! He is always around to help with your plans. We went on two excursions - snorkeling and the BBQ trip. Had a complete blast. The boys caught a ton of fish, even spear fishing and the guides (all are brothers) were very patient and informative. I would highly recommend this resort!
Brian W. from New York, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2012 Our experience at White Sands Cove was awesome. We travel pretty extensively and found the property to be top of the line. The pool is great and the amenities, including free bicycle and kayak rentals, were also fantastic. The staff was also able to organize any snorkel or dive trips or any other excursions. We liked that the unit had a full kitchen so we made breakfast ourselves every morning. Overall, it was a great property and we loved our time there.
Travis H. from Haslet, Texas recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in May, 2012 I cannot say enough good things about White Sands. Marlon was great! Our flight was cancelled and Marlon made other arrangements so that we could stay another day. He redid our flight from the island going to and from. The last day we did have to change rooms, but we got to stay and did not lose a day. Any time we had an issue Marlon was right there to do whatever he could to make it right. When we arrived he put our bags in a wheel barrel and took them to our room. The day that we had to change rooms, he made sure that all our bags were moved and any groceries that we purchased. We went to town and did not have to lift a finger. The pool bar is nice and the pool its self was great. Our room was right on the beach. The sand was always clean and there is some places that you can walk to eat or just eat right there. We did take a tour to the temples booked through White Sands. It was with Sea Duce. That will be another review but I think White Sands should consider a different company. The only thing that I wish it had was a beach that you can walk into the water, but even without that it is a great place to stay. Rooms were clean, AC in the bedrooms and everything else that you might need. I would stay there again no questions asked!
A guest from Cadiz, 11130 does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in April, 2012 Belize may be a beautiful destination but the only possibility to have some action is water concerned and besides the fact that the islands not only are already very polluted but also very overpriced, specially the diving and snorkeling activities. If you decide to go there prepare yourself to poor quality but very overpriced activities, as well the water activities as the restaurants.
Annelieke R. from Rocky Mountain House, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in April, 2012 We had a great time at wsc.We would stay at wsc again.some night secery would be good. we did have someone trying to get into our condo.
Dana D. from Bellefonte, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2012 White Sands Cove was perfect! This was the most relaxing hideaway I could have asked for. Thank you all for all your kindness. Can't wait for my next trip down to San Pedro, definitley staying at White Sands again. No desire to look for another location. Loved it.
Lori K. from Wake Forest, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in June, 2011 We had a wonderfully restful time in this beautiful slice of paradise. We were close enough to be in the fray and active when we wanted to be, and far enough away so that we had the privacy and peace we sought when that was what we wanted. This was a wonderful trip and the people of Ambergris Caye were warm, honest and friendly.
Robert H. from kernwille, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2011 We found the Resort at White Sands Cove to be a wonderful smaller resort with beautiful room, grounds, swimming pool with direct ocean access to clear water (beyond most of the seagrass) via their dock extending out into the sea. The resort is a little far from town but walkable one way along the beach and only a $20 US taxi ride back. We purchased our liquor and wine at the duty/tax free store in the airport before flying to the island and stopped for groceries and fruit for breakfast and snacks during our taxi ride from the San Pedro airport to the resort. We went bicycling one day but the chain on one broke 5 miles from the resort and a second one had a flat tire--oh well, nice walk back. We booked a tour to Lamanai one day--the ruins were nice but unremarkable and we decided it was too long a trip (25 mile boat ride + 1 hour bus ride + another 25 mile boat ride just to get there, and the same on our return). We booked with Searious Adventures (waterside office at the south end of Barrier Reef Drive) and saved 10% by using a discount coupon from the HOT Tourist Brochure (red cover--available at the airports and around town). Food at the restaurant at the resort was very good, although a little expensive, but no more so than any other restaurant on the island and they happily prepared several items that we asked for which were a little different than described on the menu. This is a great place to swim, sun and relax and we were well pleased with our experience. Doris, who ran the bar and took our dinner/snack orders was very accommodating and Marlon, the on-site manager was very pleasant, although he did not seem knowledgeable about booking tours or renting a golf cart. We walked up the beach to Captain Morgan's Resort and booked a golf cart there, and got a good price. They did charge us a $10 delivery fee to bring it from town but we returned it to town at the end of the day and then stayed in town for dinner and took a cab home. Worked out nice.
Rhonda N. from Fort worth, Texas recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2011 The beach front area was very full of trash and debri. It would have been nice if that would have been cleaned up. The overall stay was great, Doris and Marlon were awesome!!!
Rachael A. from Chicago, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in February, 2011 Where do I start? White Sands Cove is simply lovely. Marlon and the rest of the staff are fantastic - helpful and friendly. Marlon has a magical way of appearing every time you need to see him. We never waited longer than 30 seconds at the office before he would show up and help us with our requests. He booked all our activites - the Lamanai trip with guide Daniel Nunez of Tanisha Tours was simply spectacular - I will definitely do that again and will request Mr. Nunez again as he is the perfect guide - thanks for choosing him Marlon. Marlon even gave the three of us a coconut each at my niece's request :) I got back to Chicago a day and a half ago and if my dog weren't here waiting for me, i'd be sorry to have come home. I stayed at WSC with my boyfriend and our 15 year old niece. We chose WSC on the strength of the reviews we had read and it was the right choice. The condo we stayed in was a 2 bedroom ocean front condo on the top floor. It was spotless and comfortable. We stopped at the store (a stop offered by the driver who meets you at San Pedro airport) and bought our breakfast ingredients and so enjoyed a cooked breakfast every morning. The kitchen has all the utensils to do this. We ate at the pool bar twice and cleaned our plates both times. The pool was chilly, but perfectly clean and refreshing for me after I ran to town and back one morning. San Pedro had experienced a 'cold' snap just before our arrival, so i'm sure the pool is usually warmer. The grounds are kept pristine. The view is classic Caribbean - beautiful blue sea lined with palm trees and beaches here and there. Be warned though - the locals have wisely decided not to clear the sea grass from the shores as it would destroy habitat and have serious ecological consequences, thus if you wish to swim, either swim off the end of the pier (it has steps to the water) or use the pool. WSC is roughly 2 miles from San Pedro town, which makes for a pleasant bike ride on roads passing
A guest from Glastonbury, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2010 Our condo was lovely: spacious, clean and very comfortable. However, we were somewhat disappointed with White Sands. The management seemed lackadaisical, and responded only slowly to our needs and requests. Our sense was that they just didn't care that much about our needs. Also, if you go to Ambergris at all you should be prepared for the fact that you really don't swim here. The beach is consistently narrow along the length of the island, and when we visited it was too windy even for sea kayaking. Getting to and from town is an issue too, since you are either dependent on the irregular schedule (and fares) of the water taxis, or you have to risk your life renting a golf cart to drive around in.
