Vacation Apartment Rental Description:

AI FIUMI – Top Quality Rental in the Historical Center of Bologna – Fully Equipped, Extra Convenient

If you are looking for a top accommodation in Bologna, the fun, fashion and gourmet capital of Italy, and wish to live where most Bologneses wish they could live, this is it!

Ai Fiumi is a very nice, quiet, clean, comfortable apartment complex located in the very heart of the historical center of Bologna, Via Marconi, the best, classiest stores, shops, boutiques, restaurants and more all around. The units of which Ai Fiumi (“The Rivers”) is made of are named after the bodies of water running within the walls of Bologna, or nearby – Reno, a very cozy studio; Navile, Aposa and Savena, three great 2-room apartments; and Lavino, a large, light-and-bright 3-bedroom apartment. All units have been accurately refurbished between 2010 and 2012 with the short-period vacation rental business in mind and are being impeccably maintained.

Particular attention has been paid to essential details such as total quiet, which has been achieved through an advanced noiseproof insulation system (most units overlook an inner courtyard, too); absolute cleanliness, care of a professional staff before and after every stay; general top comfort, granted by excellent furniture and state-of-the-art appliances; and finally, an absolutely competitive price for such a quality rental. All the above to clearly mark the difference between Ai Fiumi and the many similar yet lower quality accommodations in town.

All apartments are air conditioned and feature full time, broadband wifi internet connection. Kitchens are fully equipped, bathrooms are immaculate and get thoroughly sanitized at every departure and arrival. A dishwasher and a washing machine are provided together with all the major appliances, bed frames are firm and orthopaedic mattresses get replaced every 2-3 years regardless of their condition, towels, sheets and linen are best quality and included in the price. Cleaning tools and products are provided and included in the price as well.

The Studio apartment can accommodate up to 2 adults + 1 child in two single beds that can be put together to form a double, plus a child’s bed.

The 2-room apartment sleeps 4-5 in a queen-size bed or two single beds that can be put together to form a double, a very comfy twin sofabed or two single sofabeds and a child’s bed.

The 3-bedroom apartment (140 square meters in size) sleeps up to 7 adults plus 1 child and is composed of two queen-size bedrooms (one with its own en-suite bathroom), a 3-single bedroom with a balcony, 2 additional bathrooms, a dining room, a fully-equipped kitchen and a hallway.

As for the area, Ai Fiumi is located in the middle of Bologna’s historical center, Via Marconi, a very safe, convenient location only 10 minutes walk to Piazza Maggiore, the train station and Bologna’s most beautiful monuments, museums, theatres, restaurants, stores and boutiques. The Fiera District is 15 minutes with the bus stopping right at the door, about 15 minutes to the University. All kind of shops, a big grocery store, a colourful, traditional Bolognese open-air market are within a few meters walk, and so is a number of great restaurants, little trattorias, pizzerias, ice-cream parlours, bars, osterias and more. Specially discounted cooking and pasta classes, general tour packages are available for our guests upon request.

So book Ai Fiumi to live in Bologna as real Bologneses would live. We look forward to your stay with us!

"We stayed in Studio Apartment Reno for three weeks. It was perfect for the two of us...convenient to groceries and the many sights of Bologna. It was nicely outfitted with the necessary dishes and linens. The bed was very comfortable. Antonio met us at the apartment to explain how to use the various utilities, etc. The washing machine was a definite asset for a three week stay. We walked everywhere. We used the apartment as a home base to visit nearby cities of Parma and Ravenna. When we came in at night the apartment was sealed and totally quiet. The elevator made staying on the 2nd floor quite easy. I would highly recommend staying in Bologna and using Antonio's apartment." (Jack W., USA)

"The Reno studio apartment was perfect for my needs. I particularly made use of the wi-fi and the washing machine, and loved having a small balcony - there's no real view (it opens onto a central courtyard) but it was nice to have the option to get some fresh air. The apartment is super quiet and in a very convenient location, walking distance from the station and just about anywhere else in central Bologna. Antonio is a particularly responsive and helpful host. I had to buy my own bathroom soap but with a supermarket just up the street that was no hardship!" (Eva M., A. & U., USA)

"This is the second time we went to Bologna and the second time we stayed "Ai Fiumi" - guess why. It really is recommendable, located in the centre, yet not noisy. Within easy reach of all the sights, plus the bus from the airport stops only two blocks away (Ugo Bassi) or, on weekends, even just across the road. The owner is absolutely wonderful, accommodating, helpful, speaks excellent English, helped us to learn Italian and reacted promptly to our mails. For us, having Wifi acces to the internet was an enormous asset. A very nice touch: on arriving, you'll find the íngredients of spaghetti and tomato sauce and a bottle of water. As far as eating is concerned: don't miss the Mercato delle Erbe, on Ugo Bassi, a great market for fresh produce. And for a wide choice of restaurants, try Via del Pratello nearby. In case you want to stay for a week or longer, ask for "Aposa", as there is a washing machine, and you don't have to pack that much. In the summer, laundry dries within a day. (I would have liked some kind of shelf in the shower for soap and shampoo, but in the end, the exercise of having to bend down for them did us good) We love Bologna, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "Ai Fiumi"." (Anne T., Germany)

"This was my first time using the internet for a booking. I read all the reviews on the apartments listed by this owner. They were all great - so based on these and the description and photos I decided to rent. I and my friend arrived on the day and time agreed upon. We were greeted and informed about all the amenities of the apartment. The apartment was beyond my expectations. It was spacious, clean, beautifully appointed, quiet and very secure. Oh - the water pressure in the shower was awesome with lots of hot water. It is in the perfect location for exploring historic Bologna, the train station, shops, food markets and wonderful restaurants. Antonio was an excellent host - answering my numerous emails and text messages. He even arranged for a taxi to pick us up on our day of departure. The apartment had air conditioning and to balconies. We did not want to leave. Attention to detail was superb. After a trip to the market for food items we were set for a glorious stay. Thank you again Antonio for letting us experience such a week long dream vacation!" (Larry A., USA)

"My wife and I spent a week in the Navile apartment. This 2-room (plus
bath) apt. was very clean and bright. It had all the basics that we
needed. The kitchen had a refrigerator, 2-burner electric stove top,
washing machine, dishwasher, pots, pans, dishes, cups, glasses,
utensils, etc. The instructions for the washing machine were in the kitchen/dining room table drawer; easy to use. There was a sofa & TV in the living room (all part of the kitchen & dining room area). We would have welcomed another overhead light or an end table with lamp in the living room. Setting up our laptop was easy. The secure network & password were listed on the sign taped to the inside of the front door. The bedroom was large & bright (we liked the two overhead lights and the two bedside table lamps). Ample closet space but the drawers were very low in the closet. Two twin-sized mattresses were pushed together for the bed but you could feel the seam. Good pillows. The bathroom was spotless. Good water pressure in the shower and great, fast hot water. Windows in the bath, bedroom, & living room had automatic room-darkening shades. The building that the
apt. is located in is on Via Marconi, a busy street near the historic
center. It is a condo-type building. There is an elevator, making it
easy to get luggage up and down. It is convenient to shopping and
historic sites. The PAM supermarket is just up the street towards the
train station. The Mercato dell Erbe on Via Ugo Bassi is a 5 minute
walk (fresh veggies, fruits, cheeses, breads, meats, dairy). Train
station is about a 12 minute walk. We loved Bologna itself. The
porticoes are beautiful - and great "umbrellas" in the rain! The
historic center, the ancient churches, the university district, the
incredible (and free) museums, the superb restaurants, the Bolognese
cuisine, the parks on the city's edges, the walk under the longest
portico in the world to the Basilica & Sanctuary of the Blessed
Virgin, finding the canals - all of these made our stay in Bologna
memorable. Easy access to the train station made day-trips to places
like Ravenna (awesome mosaics) simple. We'd stay at Navile again.
Working with Antonio, the owner, was easy. He was very responsive to
all of our emails & requests. And we appreciated the welcome basket!"
(Charles G., USA)

"This apartment was more than we expected. Bright and spacious, just a short walk from Piazza Maggiore, with everything we needed for our week stay in Bologna. Charming artwork was on the walls, the beds were firm and comfortable, bathroom large, and the owner was helpful with any and all questions we had. I would recommend this to anyone, and would suggest staying in Bologna as a base for touring Emilia-Romagna." (Ellen H., USA)

"I stayed at Ai Fiumi for the second half of a 4 weeks stay in Bologna to study Italian at Madrelingua. I was trying to find new accommodations when my first place proved to be horrible, so was in a hurry. Antonio was very accommodating and met me twice, punctually, during my very short 15 minute breaks from school. He and his wife did everything to make sure the apartment was ready for my arrival and that I had everything I needed. The apartment is clean, comfortable, has everything you need (if you can possibly think of anything else there is a 1euro store a few doors down) and is in a GREAT location! It is literally minutes walk from everything, yet just enough off the main street to not be too noisy at night. It really made the second half of my stay great and I would highly recommend Ai Fiumi!" (Hope E., USA)

"My family rented this apartment in February 2012 and it was large enough for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. It was spacious and clean and the description is accurate. The location is excellent, walking distance from all attractions. My previous experience renting from Antonio in November was great as was my experience in February. I have recommended this apartment to friends and relatives." (Karen W., USA)

"I stayed in "Aposa" for a month in Jan/Feb 2012. I was moving to Bologna for a year and needed a 1 bedroom apartment in 'Il centro" for a month. Fortunately, this was an excellent choice. The apartment was very nicely furnished and was just like the photos I had seen. It was spotlessly clean. When I had a minor leak, the landlord, Antonio, was very responsive and it was repaired immediately. There were plenty of linens, cookware, a microwave, WIFI, etc. I was there for the major snowstorm(s) of 2012, and felt very snug & secure. The apartment is close to everything. There is a large supermarket less than 2 blocks away, as well as restaurants, bars, shops, a pharmacy, etc. And in via Marconi, you can find a bus to take you anywhere in Bologna. The train station is a very quick bus ride away - only 3 stops. I would recommend this apartment to all of my friends, relatives and fellow travelers." (Nancy R., USA)

"My husband, my daughter and I happily spent a week at Antonio's apartment, cleanliness, quiet, comfort, fun and convenience the key words. Because its proximity to the train station we could easily take day trips to Florence, Venice and Milan - and took us minutes to get there! The apartment is centrally located. Piazza Maggiore with all the main monuments is just a 10 minute walk, and so are the flea market and the shopping district. We went to the nearby Mercato delle Erbe - a real gourmet delight! - for daily grocery shopping, Italians are so lucky to still have this kind of things! Great restaurants and ice cream parlors can be found in the neighborhood too, and so are some excellent wine bars and cafes (do not miss Pasticeria Miki, they have the best pastry in town – tasty and huge!). Everything can be easily reached on foot, no need for a car – we dropped ours in a nearby guarded parking lot for 7 days and paid nothing! Buses, however, run 7/24 and take you everywhere. All in all we were very happy with Ai Fiumi, a rental with a great quality/price ratio. We recommend it as a top accommodation in Bologna and will surely come back." (Nancy C., Los Angeles, USA)

"Great place, ideal location. Everything was as described in the ad. I recommend Ai Fiumi highly." (Robert S., USA)

"We have been many times in Bologna and should say this studio apartment completely met and even exceeded our expectations. It is really nice, well equipped with the necessary household appliances and brilliantly located, in the heart of Bologna's historic district, with a supermarket, several cafes, restaurants, pizzerias and a tabacchi right at the door or no more than a walk of two or three minutes away. The walk to Piazza Maggiore, the city's centre, takes no more than five minutes and leads through attractive streets. Being a studio, the apartment itself is obviously small but there were only two of us, so we had all the room we needed. Closet and drawer storage was sufficient. The apartment is scrupulously maintained and the previous contacts with the owner were excellent. Great free parking lot nearby, all connections are right at the door. Good price too." (Valerie M., USA)

"For our summer vacation, we decided to visit Bologna and stay at an appartment located close to the train station and to downtown. Ai Fiumi offered that and much more. The owner gave us great information prior to our arrival of places to see and what and where to eat. Information was accurate and very helpfull. Additionally, the owner gave us for free not only the water and milk i asked for, and that i was going to pay for, but also food to prepare for our late arrival. Attractions are at a walking distance, and a large grocery store is just 5 minutes from it.
The appartment is in great shape. Walls are spotless and the furniture is in great condition. It is a clean and nice place to stay. The description of the appartment and the pictures are accurate, but the appartment is much nicer that how it looks on the pictures. We were very happy to stay here.
Everything was more than excelent. Thanks for your great hospitality and for helping us with our late arrival and late departure!" (Eduardo H., Spain)

"We have had a very good experience staying at Ai Fiumi apartment in Bologna, Italy from 6 until 10 September, 2011. The apartment is well equipped, clean, and centrally located in Bologna. We had no problem checking in once we telephoned ahead from Bonn, Germany, and later arrived in Bologna from the airport. We only ate out twice, one dinner, and one lunch as both the Pam Supermarket and the local market in Piazza Maggiore are within easy walking distance. Bologna itself is interesting but also centrally located for our day visits to Villa Griffone where Marconi grew up and built his first wireless apparatus and to Padova to see the 1395 frescos by Giotto who was the first to break away from the Byzantine art forms of the Middle Ages. The Ai Fiumi apartment complex is quiet, I am presently using the free wireless internet service, and we did a week's clothes washing in the available machine. We are satisfied guests." (Richard & Martha, USA)

"My sister and I stayed at this lovely quiet - almost too quiet we slept so long!- apartment in early September 2011. The space was as described, (there was no CD player but an Email to Antonio and he sorted this very quickly the next day) and very good quality for the price. The best bit was a nice bit of outdoor space on the balcony (which has two folding chairs and a little table - no view! it overlooks the flat courtyards) which we used for pre-dinner drinks and snackage. The apartment is less than 10 mins walk from the Neptune statue in the centre, and the Mercarto della Erbe is very close by (you have to know where to look) - with the fruit, meat and veg/fish market - very good value). We didn't need WiFi but there were no instructions left about it (it is a feature in the listings). The washing machine (clothes) was very welcome but we had to improvise to dry clothes - there was no clothes dryer, iron or ironing board. The information sheet on Bologna which Guido sends out to residents is very helpful. I recommend the apartment for 2 people, great value, location and nice outdoors space on the little balcony. Enjoy your stay!" (Geraldine B., UK)

"My partner and I stayed at the apartment mentioned for 3 nights this month. We thought the apartment was clean, well described and very conveniently located. We would stay there again with no hesitation – one little quibble – the microwave didn’t work well – but apart from that the building was lovely, many of the essentials were there for our benefit the air conditioning (very necessary during our stay) worked without a hitch. Fantastic find and good value for money or quality to price ratio." (Marie P., UK)

"Our stay at Ai Fiumi was great. The apartment was well located, efficient and has a great shower - lots of room and no issues with shower water on the floor. We were unable to make the washing machine work, but Antonio saw to it that the problem was fixed. It's a short walk to the Neptune fountain and all the great restaurants and shopping nearby. The street the apartment is on has a lot of shops for basic necessaties. A few more bowls and glasses would make it easier to take full advantage of the dishwasher. Overall I would heartily recommend it - a nice change from hotels." (Richard P., USA)

"Le logement est tres bien situe; il est agreablement divise, meuble et comfortable. Nous n'hesiterions pas a y retourner pour un autre sejour a Bologne. Super." (Marie P, UK)

"We highly recommend the apartment. It is in a great location, is very clean and comfortable and has all conveniences. It is also quiet and within walking distance from the railway station. Our communication with Antonio both before and during our stay was very good and he provide great advice about the local area and where to eat. We really enjoyed Bologna and surrounds and will certainly stay in the apartment gain if we return." (Mary G. S., Australia)

"Wonderful apartment. 5 weeks all over Italy and this place was the best. Great location. Close to the train station. Close to the city center. VERY clean." (Rick S., USA)

"We just returned from Italy and spent 3 nights in Bologna at this apartment. We had a bit of a wait at arrival as our contact did not show but the porter was able to make some calls and our contact rushed over. Everything after that was perfect...great suite, great location, quiet, clean etc..great price too. Our friends had the larger suite across the hall and it was fantastic as well. I actually over paid by mistake and the money was refunded the next day. Thanks again Antonio!" (Matt D., Canada)

"This is a great place - ideally situated in an impressive "palazzo" and all the sights of Bologna are within walking distance. In the midst of things but with double glazing there is little noise from the street. When you take the bus from the airport into town, it's best to leave at the "Ugo Bassi" stop which is nearer to the apartment than "Central Station". The owners are most accomodating and helpful and very prompt in answering any message (in perfect English, by the way). We enjoyed the fact that there was W-Lan in the apartment and a small balcony, complete with a washing line. The walls are a bit thin - you can hear the neighbours doing whatever they have to do, but that was not really a problem. There is a washing machine and a dishwasher and ironing facilities, so if you stay for a longer period of time, you will find them useful. No electric kettle, but we used a pot to boil water, so no worry. Very good value for your money. If (or rather: when) we go to Bologna again, we won't look for any other place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the comfort of "Ai Fiumi"." (Anne T., Germany)

"Lovely apartment, practically 3 minutes walk from the Piazza Maggiore In a main road - thus a variety of shops and bus stops right at the front door of the block. Nonetheless very quiet, since the apartment faces the opposite direction. Was impressed with the cleansiness. Fast internet connection available, and appreciated owner leaving pasta and sauce available just in case one arrives late or does not have the time to shop - albeit keep in mind that the food at restaurants is excellent! Thank-you Antonio!" (Dion B., Malta)

"This is a very comfortable, spotless apartment with all the comforts of home. Check in and out were a breeze, and the apartment is spacious and secure. It is within walking distance to all of the city center, and there are stores everywhere for food, pharmacy goods, clothing, etc. The building is very quiet and a portiere (doorman) guards the entrance to ensure security. We enjoyed cooking in the apartment and found the kitchen fully equipped. The bathroom is spacious with a wonderful shower. Overall, this is a great apartment, and we highly recommend it." (James G., USA)

"My wife and I are spending 3 months in Italy and our first month was spent in the 2-room Aposa apartment, one of the 3 adjoining apartments offered through this website. We found everything as advertised, with the English-speaking owner Antonio and his assistant Elizabeta being extremely courteous, helpful and prompt to our every request and need. A base in Bologna appealed to us not ony for time spent in that City, but also as an easy jump-off by train to Venice, Florence and Milan where we spent 3 days in each on consecutive weeks. In between, our rental car allowed us to explore the Tuscan, Emilion and Umbrian countrysides on day trips, including an overnight visit to Pisa and its own neighbouring towns (especialy the beautiful Viareggio) and beaches. We unconditionally and highly recommend this owner and his accommodations to you!" (John W., Canada)

"I come to Bologna for business reasons each year and have been trying to find apartments to stay in rather than hotels - coming from Australia I like the extra space, the convenience of a kitchen and a washing machine, and also the independence to just set things up the way I want to, and know that no-one will disturb me. I have tried two other apartments and this is the best - the location is very central - a five minute walk to the Paizza Maggiore. Within 2 minutes walk of the apartment there is a big supermarket, chemist, dry cleaner and many other stores as Via Marconi is a main thoroughfare. Although I had a car to collect and drop me each day there is ample public transport right outside. Despite that the apartment is wonderfully quiet - especially the bedroom which opens into an internal courtyard. The bed is firmer and the pillows higher than we are used to but that is common in Italy so is not a complaint. Merely something to bear in mind if you are fussy about such things. Security is excellent with locked door to the entire complex at the street, and there is a (very small!) lift which was useful when arriving and departing with luggage. Antonio was very helpful when I needed to ask questions and his English is very good which is also a benefit for some of us. Highly recommended." (Angela N., Australia)

"L'appartement est impeccable, agréable à vivre, et bien situé dans Bologne où il y a tant de lieux à visiter." (Ghislaine D., France)

"We spent 5 days in the Navile apartment over the New Year period. Among its advantages I would mention: - A relatively good location – within the inner city ring, about 15-20 min walk to the station, 10-12 walk to Piazza Maggiore (city centre). - Clean - Essential facilities are there, including pots, pans, plates, towels, etc. sufficient for 4 people - Nice clean bathroom and strong shower. - A market and a couple of supermarkets within 3-4 mins walking. - Affordable. But the traveller should be aware: - This apartment is on a modern street which does not have old Bolognese character - The stove has two (electric) burners (not four). - There is no separate kettle, so you have to boil the water in a pot (although this seems to be common in Italy). Overall, I would say this would be a good solution for somebody who plans to spend most of the time in the city and sleep in the apartment only." (Serghey R., UK)

"Spacious well furnished apartment that worked well as a relaxing, cool and easy sanctuary in the city. Close to the town centre (minutes walk) and railway station, with a good supermarket on the corner. Comfortable beds, wi-fi, washing machine, dishwasher, air con in all major rooms Responsive owner when we overloaded the electricity by using everything at once, including oven, and blew the fuse Bologna is a great city, and this apartment fully fitted the bill to enhance our stay. Fully recommend." (Michaela M., New Zealand)

"This was a very good apartment within 5 minutes to the historic centre. It had the best shower in any that we rented in Europe - so nice to have a good strong hot shower without being cramped! It was very modern and great value. I would definitely recommend and stay here again. Mick and Terri" (Mick & Terri W., Australia)

"I stayed at this central apartment for 3 weeks in September. It was very convenient, very quiet and comfortable with ample space for two people. EVERYTHING that one needed was in the apartment including a bollitore(kettle) which Antonio kindly provided! There is also an elevator. One did not require a car, as the main Piazza was 10 minutes walk away as was the railway station. There were also several buses (to the station) across the street. There was a supermarket 3minutes away called PAM and a wonderful fresh fruit, vegetable & fish/meat market virtually across the street (ERBE market), a hairdresser about 6 shops away and several restaurants and trattorie in the vicinity, especially in the side streets. Coffee shops are everywhere. The Porter in the building was very helpful with directions. My stay was a very positive experience and I look forward to staying here again on my next visit to beautiful Bologna!" (Yvonne L., Australia)

"Large, bright, comfortable and extra-clean apartment ran by friendly and helpful people. Antonio was a great host who warmly welcomed us and provided maps and literature to make exploring the city very easy. The apartment is a stone's throw from the Piazza, the station and the Medieval center, with a fantastic veggie, fish and meat market only one block away. Extremely convenient location, safe and well-served by buses, including a shuttle bus to a low-cost parking lot (1.30 Euros/day for both!). The apartment is quiet and ideal for a large family. Absolutely recommended." (Lara C., UK)
