Located on a treed hilltop overlooking a heritage canal lock station( Davis Lock) this private cottage gives you a great view of both the Opinicon and Sand Lake. Newer nine year old, 4 season vacation home is clean, bright and modern and will make your stay very comfortable with all the amenities of home while providing the private cottage and wilderness experience; truly the best of both worlds. Additional bunk cabins provide extra privacy for larger families. The large dock is located in the calm waters of a bay on Opinicon Lake and can accommodate very large boats. The dock is great for launching the provided canoe or row boat, or for sunning and watching the boats go in and out of the locks. The bay is nicely protected for boating, swimming, fishing or star gazing. Family favorite swimming spot located just steps away off the lock station docks with convenient swim ladders and picnic tables. Enjoy floating in the calm waters of Opinicon lake while watching the boats travel through the locks.
A canoe and a rowboat included with the rental, making this a very convenient and inexpensive vacation!
The Rideau Canal is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and was rated #2 as an exceptional historic site destination by National Geographic. The Rideau Lakes Region is a great place to explore. You can take advantage of the great fishing, boating, swimming, water-skiing, or lock through the historic canal system to the other attached lakes and towns. In the surrounding towns and cities there are also lots of activities, and events to participate in including, golf, historic tours, boat tours, shopping restaurants, parties, and lots more!
This cottage is conveniently located not far off of highway #15 at the halfway point between Toronto and Montreal, 25 minutes from the Canada/USA border, and only one hour and 30 minutes from Ottawa. Property is part of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve.
