Great Weekend Getaway Laura C. from Ellicott City, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013 Looking for a quick weekend getaway, we chose Oxford, only 90 minutes from central Maryland, for its convenient location and quiet charm. Sailor's cottage lived up to its promise of tranquility -- situated on a large, well-maintained property, surrounded by marsh land and on the water. Best of all, we could bring our dog. He fell in love with the place as soon as he jumped out of the car! The house is tastefully furnished and well-maintained. We would definitely recommend Sailor's Cottage for those who want to relax in a quiet and scenic location. |

Idyllic Easter Weekend A guest from Kailua, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2013 Sailor's Cottage has a perfect location on a quiet inlet with tall grasses down to the water edge. The dock was often used for fishing and a bit of sunning. The cottage is cabin-like in feel with a knotty pine interior and large beams in the living room. I think that our favorite spot was the dining room table. It has banquettes along one side from which you can look out over the water. We would definitely return, perhaps when the weather is a bit warmer to do some more fishing and crabbing. I have just one comment about the sleeping arrangements: the one bedroom downstairs has a king-sized bed that is actually a day bed with a trundle mattress. It's perfect for a small room, but really not what we expected. |

Great House! Kim J. from Washington, DC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012 Overall, the house was great. My only disappointment was the poor television service and the cleanliness of the screened in porch.I understand the owners may not be television people, but let me determine how I spend my free time. If the house has television, then it should have a reliable service. Although there is plenty to do outside, the small town does not have a lot of things to be entertained by, so the television would have been a welcomed release. Thank goodness it did not rain. I have to admit that even with my family's complaints about the inconsistent service we managed, but on Sunday the one time I wanted to enjoy the television it went out. But what made it annoying was that the house is some distance and it took quite some time for ESV to come out and check out the problem, because the local caretaker would not come out on Sunday. ESV's response was great, but the poor repairman really could do nothing. I would have rather them advertise no television than what we got.I loved the screened porch but it was really dusty and needed to be cleaned prior to our arrival. All the cushions were dusty, the floor, and the tables. Which meant that we did not use it as much as I would have liked. Who wanted to spend the weekend cleaning. If we would have stayed longer I would have asked that it be addressed, but it wasn't worth it.Overall, we loved the house. The yard, the playhouse, hammock, and the dock. It was a wonderful getaway. Hopefully next time no glitches.I would definitely rent it again. |

Quaint and quiet retreat A guest from Washington, DC recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2012 This was our first time renting with ESVR and it went really well. The staff were exceptionally responsive and helpful - the original house we chose was taken off the market but they quickly helped us find a suitable alternative. The home was just as pictured and in a convenient location. We were even able to walk to the restaurants in Oxford (but it would have been easier if we brought bikes) and take an easy drive to St. Michael's. The home is on a quiet inlet and at the end of the dock, you can sit on a nice bench and look towards the Bay. If it had been warmer, I would have taken advantage of the kayak too. The upstairs is definitely kid-themed. |

Great property Lisa R. from Washington, DC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2012 Loved the clean, tidy house. We would have loved one more double kayak so all four of us could have kayaked at the same time (2 adults and 2 kids). |

Labor day retreat A guest from SilverSpring, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2011 Great location, the marshes provided wonderful bird watching, fishing, kayaking, and swimming. Drinking your coffee in the morning out on the deck was magical. We also very much enjoyed Oxford and biking, via the ferry, to St Michaels. The place was very cute and comfortable. And the screened in porch was very relaxing. Our dog loved running around the yard. |

Lovely Cottage for an idyllic vacation A guest from Annandale, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in August, 2011 We stayed in late August and had a delightful time. The cottage is lovely and well situated with beautiful views of the creek. Each morning my dog and I would walk the quiet roads and streets to Oxford to pick up the paper and A freshly baked muffin or cookie. Sitting on the dock we could watch the sailboats, heron, egrets, kingfishers and other birds and wildlife. We took the ferry to Bellevue and then on to St. Michaels and Tighlman Island, lunched in Easton and had dinner in Oxford and still had plenty of time to bike ride, read, take long walks and relax. We were glad to have come and only sorry Hurricane Irene cut our vacation short. Truly a delightful vacation and we'll be back. |

beautiful riverside retreat A guest from Mount Vernon, NH recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 We were very happy to find this place set on a slow moving river with wetlands full of turtles, fish, crabs, birds and other wild life. We enjoyed the view. This peaceful spot with 29 acres was perfect for us with our 2 dogs, and 4 people. We biked to Oxford center, and paddle out around the river. Evenigs and mornings were filled with bird songs. Bedrooms were a little small but you don't really need much clothing and there is a washer and dryer. Bring a couple of favorite pans with lids for cooking as the farmstands with fresh produce make it irrestible to feast. We bought crabs twice for lunch from a local fisherman and ate them at the house on the screened in porch. Crabs sweet and messy are worth the work of picking. The house is beautifully decorated including art work by the owners. We visted St. Michaels, but prefered Oxford and Easton.for our shopping. We also drove to Berlin and the Island with the horses. |
