Great view, not worth the price. A guest from Mohave Valley, AZ does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 We were pretty surprised by what we got for the price we paid. The view was beautiful, the management company was helpful - but to spend over $200/night for stained carpets, old dirty furniture, lumpy mattresses was pretty tough to swallow. We made a late booking so we were stuck with what was left on the island, otherwise we would not have spent this much for such a cheap place. It's too bad, it's a beautiful location and could be great, or at very least half the price.
Great Views Cassandra H. from Pendleton, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in August, 2015 We stayed here for 4 nights with a other family members for a family wedding. Having 2 kitchens was handy, as we made food for the wedding and it gave us the space we needed to do this. The beds are old and a little uncomfortable, but we loved the charm of the house. It's definitely an older house, but we were happy with the accommodations. There were a lot of pine needles from the trees, so we wanted to vacuum, but we didn't because out of the 2 vacuums in the house one was taped together at the cord ( safety hazard to say the least) and the other didn't seem to do much. The trail to the beach is steep and not recommended for older individuals or small children, but once on the beach it was lovely! The deck was a great place to sit and enjoy the view of the water. There was a BBQ which was great to have and there seem to be plenty of cooking utensils (the knives need sharpened). The rental company said 3 queens and a king bed. The king size bed is located in a transition room, so it's not very private. We also rented the "mother-in-law" house next door (seriously right next door) it was so nice to be able to accommodate a lot of family. We only recommend some minor maintenance items, but we would stay here again!
Our Week in Freeland Washington Reviewed by: Dennis H. does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2015 We had a great time on Whidbey Island and our stay at 122-Mutiny Bay Waterfront Cabin was for the most part very peaceful. We loved watching the dear and rabbits stroll by and relax on the grass. It was also fun watching all the big vessels depart from lower down in the Sound. We spent a lot of time away from the cabin taking in a lot of the local activities. The last two nights of our seven night stay were a little disconcerting when two families with kids moved into the big house next door. The quiet was shattered and the wild life disappeared. We had some issues with the condition of the cabin: The deck is unsafe and should be replaced immediately. Also, in need of immediate replacement is the bed in the north (? I hope I have my directions correct) bedroom. We slept there the first night and found ourselves grabbing onto the edge of the bed so that we wouldn't slide down into the hole in the middle. Minor problems: The bathroom door sticks; No screens on the windows (not serious because there aren't many bugs); You have to hold the handle down on the toilet to get a good flush; The laundry room is in serious disrepair, but the washer and dryer work well (especially after I attached the dryer hose to the outside vent); The cord on the vacuum needs repairing or replacing. Because of the condition of the property, I would not recommend this unit to a friend. Potential guests should be warned that there is a larger unit right next door where there is a possible source for a lot of noise.
Wonderful View A guest from Phoenix, AZ recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in July, 2015 The view was beyond beautiful. The cabin itself was in need of attention. The deck is desperately in need of repair...and actually dangerous. Simple is not a bad thing but furnishings could be upgraded in many ways. A good deep cleaning could make a big difference.
Tiny beach house in the trees Debby H. from Fullerton, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 9 days in July, 2015 This place is tiny but workable with a killer view! For two people it was fine but for four adults it was tight ( only 3 chairs around the table- we had to bring a fourth in from the deck). It needs updates, badly. I'd start with the beds and deck repair, a new TV and better seating. Did I mention the killer view? I'd stay again.
A Pleasant Fall Stay John M. from Castle Pines, Colorado recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in September, 2014 The property was essentially as presented, although the scenery pictures from the property need to be updated. Untrimmed trees obscure a lot of the view. One picture is NOT from the property (mountain closeup picture). The carpet badly cleaning at a minimum. We were not at the property very often during the day, so the worn condition of the furniture was not an issue to us. The condition of the mattresses was fair to poor, although could be improved with a good "topper". Internet was "iffy", sometimes unable to get connected, frequently connections dropped. The bluff was "protected" by substantial undergrowth, making danger to young children negligible. Sitting on the deck watching the scene was enjoyable. Kitchen supplies were very basic but fairly adequate. We would recommend this property, but with these warnings.
Great place, but small BO L. from MILLBRAE, California recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in August, 2014 Beautiful house in a great place, but not enough for 6 people. I rent this house because the description said "maximum 6 people", but it is a small house with 2 bedroom, a small living room, a bathroom and a small kitchen, it's really crowded for six people. Some of the facilities are old. After all, it is a great place for no more than four people to enjoy the peace on the island.
Okay for a night, not for a vacation A guest from Mercer Island, WA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in July, 2014 The cabin is dated. The bed in one of the rooms was old and needs to be replaced. Although it was fine for a night, I wouldn't recommend it for a longer vacation. The cabin can only comfortably sleep four very close people. The pullout couch isn't ideal since it is in the only open space in the cabin, and right in front of the porch, kitchen and bathroom.
A quiet time Andrew N. from taroona, Tasmania recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in July, 2014 We had a peaceful and restful experience. The only issue was finding the laundry (a sign near the door would help) but a quick call to Karen and it was located.
Good Location, Clean but Needs Attention A guest from Shoreline, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in July, 2014 We rented this cabin for two couples as overflow space for a nearby family gathering. There were no window screens and we had hot weather, so bugs and moths getting in the house at night was a problem. It was way too hot to sleep with all the windows closed. The shower valve is installed in reverse, so turning on hot water resulted in cold water, and cold water resulted in hot water. This is a liability for the owners, as someone could be scalded. Also, the valve in the shower did not work until we used a butter knife to pop the cap off and tighten it ourselves - otherwise we would not have been able to use it at all. It would be nice if the cabin had a few basic tools available to fix such things if the cabin isn't going to be well maintained by the owners or the property manager (like a screwdriver, hammer and wrench). The pillows on the beds were awful - bring your own. And only one of the two beds was even close to comfortable. This is a cute cabin in a good location that could be much more desirable if it was better maintained. It was clean and cozy.
Lovely weekend away A guest from Bellevue, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in May, 2014 We really enjoyed our stay! The location was a very short (but steep) walk from the beach. The house was in great condition, very clean and roomy for our family of 5. Owner went to special effort to get the wifi working for us too. Much appreciated.
Magical Place Jessica L. from Clinton, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in September, 2013 Thank you for the wonderful rental. We had a fabulous time and enjoyed our stay. We love love love the beach. We walked on Saturday morning around towards Double Bluff and then spent the afternoon having lunch and watching the water and the weather in our beach chairs. What a fantastic beach, and a great view. We loved watching the shipping lanes and talking to the local people who were fishing for salmon. had a fantastic time and no one was home at either of the houses next to the rental so it was very quiet. We noticed one or two cleaning items missing in the kitchen, and when we mentioned them to Karen, the manager, she was very receptive and welcomed our feedback. Karen was also very prompt, cheerful, and responsive to our last minute rental request. Thank you again ---we are still dreaming of our day on the beach.
Great cabin, great view Hedwige M. from Seattle, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 We have stayed many times in this cabin over the years and we simply never get tired of it. It has a beautiful view and has access to a great beach. The place is simple yet comfortable.
Cozy Cabin A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in August, 2012 Very nice high bank location with views of the shipping lanes and a resident blue heron in the tree tops. The cabin had everything we needed, except maybe some additional charcoal for the grill. The deck was nice but "slightly tired" and in need of some repair. The deck chairs could have been more comfortable as well since we spent most of our time enjoying the views of cruise ships, tug and barges and sailboats. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much, the management company was very good, and would do it again based on the value for what we got.
Beautiful location, Needs Some Amenities A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in August, 2012 This house was in a great location. The furniture was not terribly comfortable, however, and seemed on the low end. The kitchen needed a working wine opener :) The deck also needs some maintenance, and a larger grill wouldn't be out of place.
Great location, view and beach! A guest from Burnaby, BC recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in August, 2012 Awesome location can't beat the view and the beach! We loved sitting on the deck and watching the sun set. The bed in one room could/should be replaced - very springy and noisy.Bath towels were small, kitchen supplies limited and Wi-Fi was sporadic but overall the place was great!Bring your own beach towels, soap and shampoo. Our property manager was very helpful... thank you Karen!
Property Manager Response: Response from Tara Properties Inc. Thank you for your review! We do put out soap for every guest and the owner just bought brand new extra large bath towels for this cabin :)
Nice location, cozy house, reasonable rates A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in July, 2012 The house was not large, but it was very well maintained and had a large wrap around deck where we spent most of our time (if we weren't at the nearby beach). Definitely a good deal!
Six wks on Ebb Tide Lane A guest from Scottsdale, AZ recommends this property.
Stayed for 48 days in July, 2011 Everything was great; except the cabin needed:Better silverware, a spatula, egg beater or a wisk. The linens were substandard.
Amber and Sylvan were the best. Craig C. from Everett, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in December, 2010 After initially being disappointed the manager and housecleaner made our stay fantastic. They were flexible and understanding. Thank you!
