Great stay....condo needs a few updates Courtney B. from Duluth, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 We had a wonderful experience. Overall the property was amazing! Our condo was in need of a few updates, however. The oven was missing the temperature knob so we were unable to use it. The shower in the master bathroom has very little water pressure and is virtually unusable. The towels were slightly stained as well. Lastly, the dishwasher had a very strong odor when drying the dishes. The staff at the rental agency was very helpful and we were pleased with the overall experience. Stayed for 59 days in February, 2012 Experience with people like Ellen, Patty,mJackie, etc., great as has been for 4 years. However, new ownership people are jerks. Since last year they have been rude, calling at home during dinnertime, flooding emails that are high pressure, filled with lies about demand, terms that only the stupid or those with no alternatives would accept. We simply changed companies, got terms exactl like we used to get with 5 Star, ad ended up with a much upgraded place. If the vaca rntl pros were not such lying jerks we never would have even looked. Our hope is that someday we can reconnect withEllen Patty, etc., after the present ownership jerks are out of business in jail for no payig their bills or both. Shabby, not shabby chic A guest from Douglas Harbor, NB does not recommend this property. Stayed for 29 days in January, 2012 We loved St. Augustine, the location of our unit within the complex (very quiet), great beach, friendly people and outstanding weather in entire month of January. The condo had obviously been cleaned, however the carpet was so dirty, that the bottom of my new slippers were black within a week. The screen doors were unusable, kept falling off their tracks so we just co-existed with the occasional wildlife that flew through. The living room furniture was shabby, the master BR comforter was a disgrace and the veneer was peeling off the kitchen cabinets. The condo was well-stocked with initial supplies, although we missed not having a toaster, and six thin washcloths are not enough for two people. We used the oven broiler to make toast,but then the stove started operting erraticaly and finally gave out the last two weeks of the rental. Attempts to get the stove (or possibly wonky wiring) repaired proved futile, even thought the property manager checked everything out and said he would contact an electrician. Administrative staff were pleasant, but messages seeming didn't get delivered and phone calls did not get returned. I understand that property management staff was in a transition period, but jeez two weeks without a stove. My broken ironing board was promptly replaced however. I would not rent this unit again - it is in need of an update throughout. Vacation Rental Pros follow through was poor. Perhaps it was new staff, process?? I got the impression that people wanted to help, BUT! Ocean Village Club is well located, pet friendly, met very nice owners and renters and I would rent at the complex again - just not J36. Unit J36 in Ocean Village Club Ronald H. from Bella Vista, AK does not recommend this property. Stayed for 30 days in November, 2011 Would not recommend this unit to seniors as it is on the 3rd floor and no elevator. The kitchen is ill-equipped with mismatched china and glassware and miscellaneous pots and pans. There was only one wine glass (we bought more and left them) but a dozen or more martini glasses. We had to ask for new hand towels as there was only one that we could find. After we had been there about a week, I found several items on the floor of the linen closet that were dirty and crumpled up - an old rug with rubber backing gone sticky all folded up and glued together, and a dirty hand towel used to clean something then just thrown into a corner, obviously missed by the cleaning crew. While we were there the condo complex was being painted making it necessary for us to move the deck furniture inside several days in a row, and having to park our car in another parking lot to prevent overspray. Our windows were covered for several days with plastic or paper taped on, and we had to navigate the electric extension cords, scaffolding and other items to get to and from the unit. The beds and furnishings in the unit were comfortable, but showed signs of longtime wear. The WiFi that was supposed to be available in the club house worked for a couple of days then we could not get online there and went to other places nearby to connect. The first day we were there we submitted a list of about 15 discrepancies and a man came to check those out, but as we continued to find other things, we made the decision to just let them go and not spend more of our vacation time complaining. Our overall experience was not good and we would not consider returning to this unit. This is not the first time we have rented a vacation rental, but it is the first time we have experienced disappointment.Vacation Rental Pros have our state listed as AK, which is Alaska but we are from Arkansas, AR. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 After staying with OVC for 20 years, this was the worst unit we have stayed in. First of all, we had to bring our own towels--there are a total of about 4 sets of towels and I wouldn't use them to bathe my dog. Gray and awful! I asked for the bath and kitchen rugs to be clean and if not, to leave a note so that I could wash them myself. Neither was done--I ended up laundering the front door rug and the guest room bath rug--the master did not even have one for when you stepped out of the shower!! Also, after one night on the master heets, I didn;t think they smelled very clean, so I decided to launder them myself along with the comforter. Imagine my surprise and disgust when I stripped the bed and a fake nail flew out! We love OVC because ofits location and for our dogs--this was totally unacceptable! The vacuum cleaner in the unit definitely needs replacing if you want folks to vacuum before they leave unit. The vacuum does not pick up well at all!!The outdoor table and chairs need to be replaced.The family room was comfortable.
