This charming, immaculate 3 bedroom home is ideal for the business traveler or family. At Mount Pleasant and Eglinton Avenue, it is centrally located in a classic Toronto neighbourhood. Fully equipped house with on-site parking. 2 minute walk to the bus, 5 minute ride to the subway. Details, Rates, and updated Availability Calendar below.
Perfect for anyone planning to stay in Toronto, whether for business or pleasure. This 1925 home in Davisville Village/ Leaside has recently been beautifully furnished and decorated with the traveler in mind.
The neighbourhood is in mid-town, and has always been popular with singles, couples and families. 'Davisville Village/Leaside' is known for its excellent recreational facilities, outstanding shopping districts, and active nightlife.
Leaside's main shopping district is on Mount Pleasant Road. This stretch of stores is highlighted by a large group of antique and collectable shops that attract people from all over the city. Home decorating stores, children's clothing and toy stores, and an excellent selection of restaurants all add to the ambience of this street. A pharmacy and grocery store are within walking distance.
Leaside residents also shop on Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue. These two streets contain a plethora of gift shops, clothing and accessory stores, bakeries, specialty food shops, restaurants, and cafes.
This area also offers motorists quick access to downtown Toronto via either Bayview Avenue or Yonge Street. Toronto's highways and expressways are located within a short drive of Leaside.
One is close enough to the heart of the city without the hustle-bustle and city noise.
This two storey house has a charming, private back garden with flagstone patio and lush perennial growth. Here you can relax in the spring and summer planning your next day’s adventure. Or sip an after dinner latte from the local café while lounging on the large front porch under the shade of the tree and watch the neighbourhood in action.
There are two private parking spots in the back.
The living room is tastefully furnished with a comfortable, large leather couch, coordinating chairs, and nesting tables. There is a slim, flat screen LCD with cable television and DVD player for your use. The expandable dark wood dining room table can seat eight and has a matching buffet; perfect for entertaining. Floors are elegant, dark hardwood. A safety gate has been installed to prevent young children from accessing the front basement stairs. Built in pot-lighting and chandelier light up the main floor in the evening.
The kitchen is large, with a small eat-in area. It is bright and fully stocked with a microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, flat-topped stove, toaster, coffee maker, and electric kettle. All kitchenware is supplied including cookware, cutlery, dishes, glasses, dish towels, and placemats.
There is a convenient two-piece bathroom leading from the kitchen area.
Off the kitchen, facing the patio, is the sunroom. It is furnished with a futon couch, plush floor cushions, and an AM/FM radio/CD player with separate speakers and a subwoofer. This is a nice bright room for relaxing. There are large windows, and sliding patio door. The two skylights add extra light. The futon opens to provide a comfortable double bed for extra sleeping space.
The upper level features three bedrooms and the main, four piece bathroom. The stairs, upper hallway and bedrooms have been newly carpeted for warmth and comfort. Each room is painted a different colour, and is warmly decorated for your enjoyment. The entire upstairs has excellent lighting. A night light is also provided.
The master bedroom provides a very comfortable, supportive queen-size bed. There is a built in closet with full length mirrors, dresser, and night table with clock radio and telephone. Extra bin space is available under the bed for belongings. There is a television on the dresser.
The second room provides an exceptionally comfortable twin bed with built-in drawers, dresser, full-length mirror, and built-in closet.
The third room has a queen sized Murphy (wall) bed. There is a dresser, and plenty of wall hooks for hanging things.
I have comfortable futon mattresses to increase sleeping space.
The newly renovated basement is a comfortable sitting/play area with a desk as well as sleeping for three. The washer, dryer, iron and board are located here.
The bathroom has bath, shower, shower caddy, shelf, and drawer space for your toiletries.
A portable crib is available. It includes a change table attachment and bassinet options. It also doubles as a playpen. A fully adjustable high chair as well as a booster seat are available as well.
There are plenty of fresh bed and bath linens plus extra blankets, and pillows. Kitchen portable and master bedroom phones are available for local calls.
The central heating and air conditioning units work well and can be easily adjusted for your comfort.
I am certain that your accommodation here will contribute to making your time in Toronto a wonderful and memorable experience.

COMMENTS FROM PREVIOUS GUESTS:
28/9/9 The five of us (2 kids, 9 months old and a 3.5 year old, 3 adults) stayed at Caroline's house for a week at the end of August. We had a great experience. The house had everything we needed (bedding, linens, kitchen and laundry supplies). Each of the kids had their own room, just like home, which made for a far less stressful trip than anticipated. The baby loved the Pack 'n Play crib and the toddler enjoyed the comfy (and low) Murphy bed. The parents enjoyed having their own room as well and loved the availability of a full kitchen and washer/dryer. It felt "just like home". The house was not too big, not too small. The location was wonderful. Plenty of local restaurants and shops to visit. Several supermarkets nearby. The stay was very cost-efficient as well. For the same price as a single hotel room (maybe a junior suite), we had the freedom and convenience of a whole house. This was our first time renting a vacation home in a major city. We'll definitely do it again. Caroline was also wonderful. She checked in on us several times even though she wasn't in town and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks, Caroline.
21/09/09 Our family of four (two adults, a 3 year old and a 5 year old) stayed at Soudan for a week in September/09. It is a wonderful house - very spacious, beautifully furnished and immaculately kept. We so appreciated all the family-friendly details that were provided - plastic dishes, safety gates, a children's table and chairs downstairs to do art - that made our stay so much easier. The location is very convenient and we enjoyed bringing back meals and pastries from the local shops/restaurants for our meals. Caroline was very helpful and had all the necessary information clearly laid out for our stay. We would definitely stay at the house again on future visits to Toronto. Thanks again, Caroline! 09/02/2009 My family and I spent a wonderful eighteen days, in August 2009, at 274 Soudan Avenue. We were four adults and two small children and the property was even better than we hoped! The location in Midtown was ideal with easy access to all locations in and out of the City. The district is lovely, the neighbours friendly and the City centre just minutes away on the subway. The house is beautifully maintained and well appointed and there was ample room for the six of us; there was plenty of space to park a six seater MPV at the rear. Caroline was always very helpful and thoughtful and our stay was delightful in every respect. We shall certainly use 274 Soudan Avenue again on our next trip and I can unreservedly recommend it to others. Derwyn, Cardiff, Wales.

05/15/2009 We spent our Spring Break this past April in Toronto. The house is in a great location--close to shops, restaurants and grocery/drug stores that are all just steps away. The house is well-stocked and extremely comfortable with more than enough space for our family of 2 adults/2 children (5 & 15 mos). Great backyard, which our eldest enjoyed on snowy days. This will be our home-away-from-home whenever we are in Toronto. I highly recommend this property and Caroline makes the entire process a breeze!

03/05/2009 Loved the house and the location. Found the house to be cozy and appreciated that there we toilteries. The Kitchen was well stocked with plates etc.
The location in mid-toronto was good. The house is close to public transit and street parking was possible.

01/18/2009 Our family, including four generations, just spent a very enjoyable 5-day stay at your wonderful Toronto property. You truly anticipated all our needs, and we felt right at home. The location was fantastic: a short walk to the subway, and only steps to a supermarket and great local shops and restaurants on Mount Pleasant Ave. Highlights included taking in a movie at the nearby Mount Pleasant Theatre, and fish and chips at Penrose. Our only regret was that the January snow kept us from sitting out on the patio in the backyard! Thanks so much for providing the perfect venue for a memorable family visit.

01/07/2009 We stayed at Soudan for two weeks with three young kids. The house was perfectly set-up for kids and was stocked with everything we needed. It is has excellent road and public transit access and in an excellent neighbourhood with a ton of stores, esp. kids stores and french bakeries. A grocery store steps away was amazingly convenient. A home away from home, it was spacious, charming and great for entertaining. We all (including the kids) loved the house and Caroline's hospitality.

12/03/2008 Our family of 5 (kids aged 4.5, 2.5, 11 months) had a wonderful time in your house. The house was centrally located to shops and the mass transportation. There was parking for our extended length SUV. We were very comfortable in the accomodations you provided. We are looking forward to staying in the house on Soudan Ave the next time we are in town. Being from out of country, we appreciated the ease and consideration and arrangements that you provided to facilitate our family's transition into the house after a 6 hr flight and a late arrival into Toronto.
Thank You, Holly

10/24/2008 We were a party of 4 seniors paying a return visit to Toronto, and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, equipped with absolutely everything we needed, and the location was ideal. We found good places to eat and interesting shops within a few minutes walk, and the subway, a little further away, offered perfect transportation. There was even space to park 2 cars if they weren't too big. What more could you ask?

10/01/2008 My entire family stayed here for my wedding. It was just perfect, the location was excellent, close enough to public transportation and shops. The neighborhood was cute and safe. The house was clean and big enough to hold everyone comfortably. Caroline was very helpful and easy to work with.

09/01/2008 Great location. The house was great, fully equipt and comfortable. Nice neighbourhood and the owner called to see if all was ok & if we needed anything. Fantastic owner.

06/29/2008 My husband and I(from Nova Scotia)decided to meet up halfway in Toronto with our daughter, son in law and year old grandson(from Calgary)for five days and stayed in the property on Soudan Ave.
This absolutely the only way to go for extended stays or for those people with young children to consider or more importantly for travelers who truly want to feel like part of the community.
The owner checked with us during our stay to make sure we were comfortable and not in need of anything. The home was clean and well stocked.
The area is great. You can walk up the street to the local coffee shop and sit for an hour with a paper. The sub-way is less than 15 minutes up Eglington and you can be in downtown Toronto in approximately 15 minutes from the Station.
Our sincere thanks to the owner, Caroline. It is obvious considerable thought and effort has been taken to make this a "home away from home". We felt safe, secure, well cared and appreciated during our stay.
THANK YOU!

06/14/2008 What a wonderful place to stay! We travelled with 4 young children (ages 5,4, 2, & 6 months). We were so blessed to have everything we needed right there. The house was clean, well maintained, and had all the baby/toddler necessities. Add to that the prime location (close to all necessary and fun shops) and situated in a quiet neighborhood. We couldn't have asked for more. Thanks!

06/05/2008 I chose the house on Soudan ave because of it's location but never imagined how perfect it would be for our family. There was 7 of us travelling (2 kids under 3) and the home accomodated for all of us nicely. There were baby gates, high chairs, cribs, even a stepping stool for my toddler. We had a lot of running around to do so the key code for the side door was very convienient. Nobody was responbible for the key at any time.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

05/16/2008 I had arranged for myself and five work colleagues to stay in the property on Soudan Avenue for a week during a conference this past spring. It was perfect for us! In addition to being a wonderful family home, there was more than enough room for all of us to stay and relax together in our evenings. We were very impressed with the quality and comfort of the accomodation. The property is beautiful, and well equipped. We were at want for nothing! All amenities were provided and the owners were easy to reach and extremely helpful. This was, by far, a far better choice than a hotel! We will surely look forward to staying again during our next visit to Toronto!

03/02/08 We have just returned after a mammoth 4+ week trip to Canada, US etc with our two little boys (2 and 3.5yrs old), of which we started at your great house on Soudan. We spent a fantastically white christmas week with plenty of snow for the kids first taste of winter. The house couldn't have been better with very cosy beds, living space and fantastic kitchen. The location was perfect, being only steps away from great restaurants, grocery store and public transport. When we make our way back to Toronto again we will definitely be hoping that this house is available!! Many thanks again. The Wood Family, Sydney, Australia (findjeremy@gmail.com)
11/14/07 My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the house on Soudan for ten days. We had a wonderful time. The neighborhood is perfect. Halloween was one of our best yet! I would highly recommend staying there. Beautiful house, lovely nieghborhood and the owners are great! Heather Jablonski, Kaslo, BC (shsinclair@hotmail.com) 11/04/07 I stayed at this beautiful vacation rental for 5 days in October 2007 with my husband, 1 year old daughter, brother and sister. It far exceeded our expectations. Not only was it centrally located with several convenient and unique shops, but the house had everything we ever needed and more! We were worried that my daughter would have a hard time sleeping in an unfamiliar place but this place provided a crib which ended being a life saver! If we go to Toronto again, we will definitely stay at this place! It was like being in our own home. A good alternative to a hotel. Anonymous, San Francisco, CA (lng1160@yahoo.com) 09/10/07 This lovely house is as comfortable and well-equipped as the photos show. Situated on a quiet, leafy avenue, within two minutes' walk there is the bustle of a neighbourhood shopping street, with useful supermarket, drug stores, take-out pizzas and friendly bars and restaurants. It was very pleasant to stay for a week among the local people, rather than a centrally-located tourist hotel. The location was a ten minute walk from the Eglington Subway into Downtown Toronto and a short easy drive to the freeway for out-of -town day trips. We were a party of two parents and four "kids", aged 16 to 22 and everyone enjoyed it. We would definitely stay again if we came to Toronto. Christine and Noel Adey, Dorset, UK 09/01/07 A really well positioned and lovely house with very good facilities. Only 2 or 3 minutes walk to local bars, shops and subway/bus routes is only a few mnutes further on. Parking available for the rental car. Overall an excellent holiday. Peter & Madeleine, Bristol, UK
08/31/07 Nicely located situation for city trips. Davisville has a small town feel. Caroline made sure that we had everything we needed. Facilities good, clean, comfortable. WiFi very useful.Provisions stores within walking distance (supermarket 5 mins), cafes and ice cream bars nearby. Most highly recommended. We would certainly arrange Soudan Ave if in Toronto again. Julian, Sue & Family, Norfolk, England 08/22/07 Our stay lasted two weeks, during which we made the most of the central location of the house. Tennis courts, restaurants, metro, are all within easy reach. The house was clean, comfortable, our host most accommodating. Everything necessary for a trouble-free holiday is here. We'd definitely come back! Thanks very much, Caroline. Elizabeth Tilley , Galway, Ireland (elizabeth.tilley@nuigalway.ie) 07/26/07 We stayed for a week in July and had a fantastic time. The house is ideal for families ( we were a party of 4 including a baby and his grandpa!)beautifully decorated with plenty of space. Toronto was experiencing a heatwave when we visited, but luckily the house has a great air conditionng system!
The house is fully equipped for a very comfortable stay, its very handy not to have to bring towels, linen etc.
I would highly recommend this house, and its considerate owner. Sarah McDonald, London, Uk 07/21/07 This house was fantastic! We stayed here for a week while in Canada for a wedding. Caroline was very welcoming and provided everything we needed. We have a 6 month old son and she made sure we were very comfortable. Close to so many things, great gelato and adorable children's stores! It truly was a home away from home! Sarah Edwards, Chicago, IL 07/12/07 We stayed in this wonderful house for a family reunion, and found everything to be perfect. The owner had thoughtfully provided us with everything we needed for two toddlers, and the house felt like a home away from home. We had everything we needed. We did not lack for any amenities or necessities, and the house was very clean. We had seven people staying in the house, and there was plenty of room. We also hosted additional family members for meals during our stay and the house easily accommodated us all! The home became the hub of our reunion. We all agreed that the experience just wouldn't have been the same if we'd stayed elsewhere.
Also, the location is fantastic. The area to one side of the house is bordered by other single family homes, and you are within a block or two of everything you need - restaurants, pubs, ice cream and coffee shops, grocery store, drug store, tailor, dry cleaner, etc. It is also near the metro and bus stop and convenient from and to all parts of Toronto.
Can't say enough good things . . . F. Schmid, Los Angeles, California (Fernandalai@hotmail.com) 323.951.1031 06/14/07 My husband had to work down town and me and the kids visited all our old friends, the CN Tower, Science Centre, Centre Island etc. A perfect location. The house was also just perfect, very clean, everything provided, close to all the little shops on Mt PLeasant and Bayview [especially the new icecream place which my children loved], and a very good hostess that would make sure you were happily accomodated. We will definitely come back. Thanks Mirjam Govaerts, Fetcham/UK (mirjamgovaerts@aol.com) +1372 750413 05/02/07 We so enjoyed our stay in the house. The house itself was perfect; beautifully decorated, clean and outfitted with everything we could possibly need. It did not feel like a vacation rental at all but like a home away from home.
The location of the house was great; close to both downtown and easily accessible to the airport as well. There were great restaurants close by and even a grocery store around the corner. The two parking spaces were a great asset. We would stay here again and highly recommend this beautiful home. Leanne Walters 02/23/07 We stayed in this welcoming house for 5 days during Feb 2007 for a family event (my mother's 80th birthday reunion). There were 5 people sleeping there at any one time and there was plenty of space and comfort. We arrived the day after a snowstorm and the owner was extremely kind in making sure that the walkways were shoveled clear of snow and that I didn't get stuck in the parking space at the back. She also helped in setting up the beds and advising on sleeping arrangements in advance. Everything is provided and there were enough dishes and silverware for us to host a brunch for about 15-20 family members during our stay. The open downstairs arrangement and large dining table were great for this event which was attended by many elderly people. There is a grocery store very close (on foot) which helped when we had to run out for more eggs at the last minute during the brunch. I found the owner to be very considerate and helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. Thanks! Patricia Graves, Atlanta GA, USA (epivec@comcast.net) 01/26/07 254 Soudan Av. in Toronto was our house for 3 weeks from Dec. 17, 2006 – Jan. 7, 2007. I was glad to have found such a lovely place for my family reunion: my husband and I live in Norway, my grown up children, in Canada. Toronto was our choice: easy to get to for it’s great international airport. The house is centrally located, near the subway station, shops, restaurant and movie theatre. We were surprised to find pleasant walking trails not far away and we used the free local skating ring for work out. At Christmas we were a total of 7 people. Mrs. Newman’s house turned out to be perfect for us with a great kitchen for the preparation of our many meals. One great plus was the wireless Internet service; at one point we had 3 laptops! The beds were comfortable, the house warm and cozy. We all like to thank Caroline, Mitch and Sarah for the great holidays. Silvia, Fernando, Reto, Lucrezia and Annamaria Corfu Norway, Switzerland and Canada Silvia Corfu, Oslo, Norway (silviacorfu@hotmail.com) 01147 22 71 77 98 12/14/06 My family and I stayed in this home for several months, during an unexpected relocation to Toronto. The home is ideally located in a wonderful neighbourhood. We enjoyed the choice of many excellent restaurants and coffee shops and walking the safe, tree-lined streets.
The house met all of our expectations and was very comfortable and clean. The owner has shown a lot of attention to detail and was very responsive to the needs of her guests. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in Toronto and experience it from one of its nicest neighbourhoods.
