Not worth the price! A guest from Baltimore, MD does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2012 Swan Harbor is a very old rundown house. Parts of the house were cold and other parts too hot. The owner could improve on little things, like the coffee pot for example that makes coffee but not hot coffee. And, as others have noted, the internet connection is horrible. WiFi did not work. These are little things but nontheless should be noted. Perhaps in the summer months the place would be more palatable, but in winter, it leave a lot to be desired. I'm sure there are other places in St. Michael's that would fair much better at this price. Not recommended. This home is an older property, however, guests enjoy the rare opportunity to be within blocks of the historic district in a vacation rental, as the town proper does not allow for short term vacation rentals. Guests also appreciate the wide water views and one level spaciousness. Swan Harbor antonio q. from austin, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2012 Eastern shore Vacation Rentals was very professional and responsive. I will rent another property from them again. Location of the property is perfect with amazing view. The dock is a hazard and the outside furniture can use updating. Older home but not maintained inside and outside. Mold appears on ceiling of bathrooms. Peeling paint outside, over grown flower beds with weeds made me want to pull them instead of relax. The 20 year old beds and rusted refridge need replacement. Internet and TV need replacement. Watching the olympics and seeing partial screen was frustrating. |

The location was great, loved being right on the water. There were problems with both the internet (unable to connect) and the TV is the living room (no sound). Also, several of the doors (bathrooms and 1 bedroom) frequently got stuck....that is why you travel with give you a hand when you get stuck! |

Stayed for 4 days in May, 2011 The view overlooking the water would have been wonderful, the windows were so dirty in, out and between the storm glass it sorely detracted!! The air-conditioning was non-existent in the bedrooms, given the high temperatures, sleeping was less then satisfactory! The distance from town was not within walking distance for young children as advertised! While floors were clean and the house was dusted there was a layer of grime over the stove and the refrigerator while clean on the inside is scary on the outside with the rust! Lastly it did not have wireless internet as advertised. Oh, did I mention the weeds outside the sunroom, they were about 5' tall and clearly visible when looking out to the water! I left with the feeling a stay in a hotel would have been better. While Pleased with ESR Co. I will NOT rent this house again!! |

The house is a bit dated but functional and we enjoyed our long weekend. I would suggest an update to the DVD and VCR device. We could not get them to work during our stay. Also, I would suggest to any renters to bring their own games and movies because their are limited TV channels. We would visit Swam Harbor again! |

Rough around the edges Alexei M. from Alexandria, VA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2010 The location was lovely, and a the huge fireplace and dock were great. But overall the place really needs a sprucing up. The bed linens, in particular, are awful -- cheap blankets that feel like plastic, and a bed liner that actually *is* plastic. The central heating doesn't really work well in the bedrooms, and the blinds on the windows are tattered (not helpful if you want to sleep in on vacation as they let in tons of light). Perfect Location, Especially if You Have Dogs! Cheryl L H. from Lancaster, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2010 This is a lovely home in desperate need of some TLC. The kitchen has very little counter space. While the appliances are dated, they all work perfectly. The microwave is a comical throwback to the `60s. The dishwasher has the best rack configuration I've ever seen.The bathrooms have not been updated, but there are two showers, and a shower/tub which was good for soaking. There is clearly a moisture problem as evidenced by the ceiling damage and mold at heating/cooling vents.The dock has become a bit rickety, and the seagulls have claimed the launch area their own. The gull poop makes it impossible to spend any time out there.This property would be perfect for vacationers with dogs since it is quite private and the yard is huge.In spite of all which is listed above, we would rent this property again. The owner is an investor and the home is for sale so it is unlikely the baths and kitchens will receive an upgrade unless it is under a new property owner. The home is clean and comfortably furnished but the selling features for this property are the view, the location to town (the town proper of St Michaels does not allow for short term vacation rentals) and the acreage. If a no frills home with a great view and location are what you are interested in Swan Harbor is a good fit. Otherwise it would be our pleasure to recommend another ESVR home. |

Second time at Swan Harbor A guest from Solon, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2010 We've stayed at Swan Harbor for two years in a row and just love it there. We are a family with two middle school-aged children. It's very quiet, a lovely home -- yes the bathrooms are a bit dated, but personally I don't need a glamour bath on vacation -- with all that you need for cooking, laundry, and just relaxing. The house is nicely decorated and comfortable and the views to the water are so serene. We spend a lot of time on the dock there -- fishing, watching the boats, and we also put in a small jet boat at the ramp in Newcomb and kept it tied up. You can easily walk to the city pool which is never very crowded and also into town. Definitely recommend the house, along with Ava's Pizza and the Crab and Steak House at the marina. Also Rupert's had the very best cream of crab soup -- delicious!! |
