Beautiful property that needs a little loving.. A guest from Clarkston, MI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2013 The views were beautiful and the beach was great! The towels and sheets were clean! The kitchen had great appliances, and the media room was wonderful! We never used the lower level. However: The exterior and interior of the home was worn out. There was dust hanging from the fans. Little holes in the walls. Paint chipping, floors warped, windows were filthy dirty, the furniture was stained in spots and the outside furniture was very aged and broken. THe exterior was worn and needed paint and attention. The carpet was stained and torn in spots. The blinds were half hanging in spots and very dirty. Great location, but deserves its silver rating Crispin Z. from Somers, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2013 This is a most excellent location right on a relatively private beach. The gated community gives an excellent feeling of security.The house itself is solid - but is lacking in several ways. Small problems plagued us this vacation, including: A few broken doorknobs and rooms with non-functional locks, a theater room with antiquated projector and some faulty equipment (we jury rigged it to work with the Blu-ray player, but couldn't get the cable box functioning despite extensive troubleshooting), problems with the pool pump (required a tech to come out), a problematic elevator (a tech came out for this too), a non-functional cable box in the main living room (a tech came out for this).This house is also curiously lacking a hot tub. Very strange that an expensive property wouldn't have what is a vacation essential. Ac couple more caveats: The "kids" room at the ground level is basically a cinder block garage that has been converted by painting and adding some very basic ventilation. We had a hard time keeping the climate stable in there. Also the bedroom with the trundle is not really a standard bedroom - it's not much larger than a walk-in closet and is nowhere near a bathroom. Might be good for a small child if you're hitting the occupancy limit.With some investment in upgrading fixtures, furniture, and amenities, this could be a gold or even platinum property. As it is, it definitely sits squarely in the "silver" range.With that said, my family really enjoyed their vacation here. Despite the problems, we'd recommend this property. Casa La Duna Lana S. from Fort Wayne, IN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2013 The house is huge and beautiful and we enjoyed it immensely! It did, however, look a little beat-up in places. Walls were marked up in places, carpet buckling in places and door handle missing for a patio door which made it not functionable. Also, there was no way to secure the main doors from blowing open from the wind. We all left the house one night, only to come back to both sets of doors (the front doors and back patio doors) blown open and our house wide open at night! We even tried baracading the doors with chairs when we were there and the doors still blew open but we were there for those times. They definitely need locks that secure at the top in the door casing. Otherwise, the locks on the handles are worthless with a good strong wind. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2013 We had 12 people (6 Teenagers, 6 Adults) on our Spring Break Vacation. house was large enough, but kitchen is sorely lacking in amenities for a group that large. Couldn't get DVD player in Movie room to work (no instructions) and no help from property manager. Hired Home Theater people who were working next door to come over to make it work. Bedroom configuration not not quite what they were advertised on the Internet, but we made everything work. No door handle on bedroom on 3rd floor. House was adequate, but could be so much nicer with a little TLC/maintenance. great house, but a few issues Stacy K. from Phoenix, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2012 We stayed at Casa la Duna for a week and also rented Heaven on Earth next door. Casa la Duna was beautiful and kept up fairly well. We had brand new towels, but sheets and pillows were lacking for the pull out sofa and we couldnt find any towels for the beach.We also had issues with the movie theater a couple of times. The sound or the picture wouldn't work at the same time. We had the maintenance staff over a couple of times to fix it. Also, the pool was supposed to be cleaned and heated on the day of our arrival, but neither happened. We complained and they said that it was off season so they wouldn't heat or clean the pool for us. A lot of lights were out on the patio and a couple in the house. Some outside doors would not lock and the patio door upstairs is permanently locked. The "queen" trundle bead is actually a day bed with a twin underneath and it would not pop up to bed height. Lacking on cookware for big family meals. Only have a couple pots and pans and no tupperware for leftovers. Plenty of plates and silverwear but nothing to cook with. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 when we arrived the house was dirty, to the point we had to have the cleaning nservice back again. The HDTV did not work. The wii was not to be found. No fire alarm systems, front railing broken. We called several times. A man came on Friday before we left. He told us the bulb in the big screen was burnt out, and the cable was cut in the tv downstairs. For the amount of money we paid to rent this house, I would have expected things to be clean and not broken. Great location -- quality is very poor for the price Sean C. from Chicago, IL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 Location is incredible and can't beat it. Right on the beach, close to great golf courses, and very pretty neighborhood. The kitchen is very nice for cooking for large groups of people. They replaced the grill just after we left so that should be nice for future guests. Negatives: quality of the furniture is very sub-standard for the price they are charging. The linens are very low-quality and I actually went out and bought 2 sets of bed linens as I didn't feel comfortable sleeping on the ones provided. The pillows are also extremely bad. The overall beds are HORRIBLE and very uncomfortable. The towels are also worn out. There is limited outside furniture -- not enough for big parties. In addition, there is no lounge chairs or anything to lay out on near the pool. Who puts in a pool and then doesn't put any furniture around the pool? We did find some "camping" type chairs to sit next to the pool but for $8500/wk, most guests would expect nicer outside patio furniture. In addition, the theatre room is such old technology, don't try to hook up your iPad or iTV to it or Blue-Ray DVDs to watch at night for the kids. The other TVs are way too small for the size of the rooms they are in. In addition, the place is in need of a fresh coat of paint and new carpet. There are stains all over the carpet and again not what you would expect for the price you are paying. Overall, the location is nice. However, the quality is not any better than what you would find at a Motel 8 but paying Four Seasons type prices. There are plenty of other great rental properties available in that neighborhood and I am sure the quality is much better than Casa La Duna. I would not recommend staying at this home. Anniversary Party A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 We were very pleased with the Casa la Duna. We had 24 people ranging age 6 mos to 71. This was the first time I've rented a house for this many people, and I must say, it turned out great. The house was very clean upon arrival and true to the photos, except bedroom #5 was not a queen, it was a twin trundle. The home theater room was huge, so we moved a couple of kids into the home theater room. It had 6.5 baths, not 5.5. The house was very well stocked, unlike other reviewers comments. It took a while to find things, but it was complete. Not quality stuff, but complete. There were no beach towels. There were tons of extra sheets, and plenty of bath towels to go around. I think all the beds were pretty good quality except for the twin trundle in bedroom #5. The beach wasn't nearly as far as the photo showed, and all that tall grass provided LOTS of entertainment for the kids. Any animals that came out of there were HUGE. My kids did a lot of boogie boarding on the beach. A bit rocky, but you can find areas without rocks. Bring swim shirts and shoes. No snorkeling though, because the water wasn't clear. The pool was great, especially for the 8 and under group. Some days they would be in there for many hours.Some ventured out to Kayak, Alligator Farm, Marineland, Surf lessons, Daytona Lagoon, Daytona Raceway, Daytona Boardwalk, Kennedy Space Center, Universal Studios, Fort, St Augustine Lighthouse, parks, etc. All were a reasonable drive and all were enjoyed except the Kayaking. It was too hot to Kayak while we were there.By the way, the air conditioning worked great. It was always nice and cool inside. It was in the 90s all week.It does get buggy at night on the decks, so be sure to bring some sort of repellent. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 For a weekly rental cost of just under $10,000, I fully expected this vacation house to be pristine, as in pictures, but it is ?well used?. Day 1 - Unable to occupy house at 3:00pm per contract, it was filthy ? had not yet been cleaned - 7 families had spent the day travelling in from as far as San Antonio TX unable to occupy house until 6:00pm. Although compensated for the inconvenience, initial impressions are lasting impressions, and ours was not good. Day 2 like Day 1, calling VRP coordinating repairs. Per contract, I reported issues experienced at move-in to VRP Christopher (guest relations?), followed with email: - Kitchen gas stove griddle does not work- Toilet plugged/leaking- Gas grill LP tank empty- Dining Room glass armoire missing glass door- Bedroom (1)French doors missing handle/lock ? covered with duct tape; (2)shower handle broken- Carpet stains throughout house- Several locks inoperative- Master BR patio chair missing one leg - Garbage disposal leaking (discovered bucket under it full of smelly water)Day 5 - outside AC unit motor seized, called VRP, tech replaced it. He did a good job.Day 6/7 at 1:30am house fire alarms go off. Called VRP, and Kelly stated other properties had called with similar issues. (29 June)All in all, we had a good vacation. Best thing about the house is the ocean front location. Really only sleeps 14-15 comfortably, vice 18 as advertised. Although the house is nice, I spent too much vacation time on the phone coordinating issues that should have been identified, and corrected by VRP property management staff BEFORE we arrived, during routine property visits. Feb 25th Casa La Duna Beach Mansion A guest from Columbus, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2012 The house is in a beautiful location and was a perfect size for our family of 10. It had enough dishes and sliverware for a large family and the kitchen was a great gathering place. We arrived at 3 PM, but the cleaning crew was still in the house. We had to wait for about an hour for them to finish. We were told the people who had rented the week before us left a lot to clean up. The house itself was clean except for the carpet and the sofa in the main living area, which had many food stains on it. My brother cleaned the sofa with damp towels and it came out looking great. Then several of the beds looked and smelled as if they had not been changed. We took the sheets off and washed them ourself. The pool was not clean. It has a lot of sand, palm leaves and several children toys on the bottom and many bugs floating on the top. We called on the pool and were told they would send someone to clean it, but no one came. We cleaned it ourselves. The pool cleaners did come on Friday the day before we left. We also had problems with the handles on the entry doors. They kept falling apart and the one to the screened porch was off when we got there and sealed so you could not use it. Mostly miner problems, but ones you would not expect from an upscale rental. We had a great time and would come back. Hopefully the renters before us will leave the house in better shape! Location was incredible. Walk over the dunes to the ocean. Quiet and secure location. Not one problem with facilities or equipment working properly. Everything worked great and we had a wonderful stay. Dishes and glassware were fine and there was a sufficient amount for our large family. Cons: House could use fresh paint and updated carpeting. Secondary bedrooms were functional, but not of the quality one would expect for the cost of the house. Linens were the same. Kitchen utensils (pans, cookware, etc) were sorely lacking. They loved the house and had a wonderful time there. The only negative comments I heard were that there were lots of dead love bugs in all the rooms upon arrival, the twin beds were rock hard and the ice maker didn't work.......nothing that they couldn't put up with. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2011 overall the home didn't live up to our expectations...for a reletively new luxury property the home was in a state of disrepair and the furnishings and amenaties did not live up to the description on the website...we arrived and found trim from the outside of the house blown off the side of the home...none of the tv's worked properly, there were big ugly stains in many of the carpets, the gas grill was disgusting and unusable, the beds were not of the caliber of a luxury home, the smoke alarms were chirping. A repair person came to fix the smoke alarms and simply disabled the alarm, he said that we would get a replacement tv and grill that never showed up. There is no way that that property can sleep 14. We struggled to sleep 10 and had 3 kids in one bedroom, i sleeping on a floor. We could not use the amenaties of the resort including the water parkOn a positive the house was in an incredible spot and we enjoyed the beach. The office was helpful in booking a couple tee times. Beautiful Home with fantastic view A guest from Metropolis, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2010 We stayed @ the Ocean Ridge home, which was absolutely beautiful. It had everything you could want. There were 14 of us-we had plenty of room, where we could all be together, yet if you wanted some privacy, you had that too. Just a short walk over the berm to the beach, which was amazing. If we had any questions, we called Ramona, who is absolutely wonderful. She answered any questions that we had (places to eat, etc.)We celebrated our dad's 83rd birthday, which was on Father's day & the next day deep sea fishing was on the agenda-with much success!!Everyone is still talking about this trip! We all loved the location & home. Plus we had massages @ Cinnamon Beach. Thank you Steve for such an amazingly wonderful time. You gave so much more than promised. And the grown grandkids took 80 yr old grandma shopping @ the outlet stores that you recommended. She loved it. My sister & I enjoyed walking along the beach with our parents. Can't thank you enough.
