Great location and views Christine D. from Maplewood, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2013 Overall loved Sealodges for the location and views. We only used condo to sleep, eat and shower so did not spend a lot of time there. Only two complaints, a few cockroaches and no easy access to outdoor water to rinse of sandy/muddy shoes. The outdoor water was locked (no handle) so I had to have the maintenance man get a hose and turn on the water for me, the second time I needed to use the water I could not find him so was out of luck. Shoes are to be taken off outside the unit so it would be very helpful to have easy access to outdoor water to rinse off dirt and mud. |

It was probably our best trip there yet even though it rained during half of our trip. On rainy days we took advantage of our beautiful view of the day bed bay window and sat there for hours, sipping coffee/tea and reading a good book. It was heavenly. The location was calm, peaceful and quiet. The "secret" beach just down from the property was gorgeous with wonderful snorkeling. The whales were migrating along the north shore while we were there and we could see pods playing in the water just beyond the reef from our window. Again, heavenly! |

We spent many hours just watching the ocean from the lanai overlooking the cliff. The whales alone were great entertainment. The view includes the beaches between Sealodge and the lighthouse at Kilauea, the breaking waves, the reef below the cliffs, and the Makai golf course. The furniture and decor are in need of some imaginative updating, but the unit was clean. We have rented with Ahh Aloha before and always found them to be pleasant and responsive. |

You must be aware that this is a very old property that has not been updated; bathroom is tiny, exhaust fan very noisy; refrigerator makes noises like someone is knocking at the door (I answered it twice!)...and this has been mentioned in the reviews as long ago as May; it is now February! The kitchen is poorly equipped, and you can hardly see to use the stove; no light above it. Altogether, the unit is very poorly lit. Neither the management company or the "concierge" followed through with our requests. As long as you are prepared to put up with the shortcomings, the view is to die for. Hopefully the bedroom screen will not fall out of the window! and what's with all the dead flies in the unit? They re-appeared every day, after we had cleaned up the ones already fallen on the floor. |

A couple of small things were the lack of bbq (it is part of the description, but when we went to use it, found it is not gas and requires charcoal, which most people are not going to buy for a week's stay. Also, the kitchen did not have a pitcher for making juice, nor a cheese grater. These are not that important, and I mention them as suggestions for improvement, not as criticism. We definitely plan to stay here again in the near future! |

The gorgeous ocean/cliff views and the continuous roar of the waves comprise my best memories of our entire four-island trip. My husband and I liked the north shore location; it is the most beautiful part of the island--more secluded but not too far. The deck was nice and private, and we spent a lot of time out there looking at the stars, listening to the ocean and watching night snorkelers. We also appreciated the beach supplies that were available (cooler, umbrella, beach chairs, mats, towels, snorkel gear, bags, etc.). I definitely would rent this condo again. |

We woke up to and got to watch the sunrise every morning from the large bedroom window over the bay. The unit had just about every amenity that you'd need and it was very quiet/private.Our only complaint is that it could have been a little bit cleaner but for the price you are getting a great value.We loved the north shore but don't expect there to be much to do after sundown, Kauai is not really known for nightlight compared to other vacation destinations and the north shore is even a ways away from hotspots on the eastern shore.Overall I'd recommend the Sealodge and specifically this unit, but not when we want to go :P. |

Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 My husband and I are teachers so naturally we were looking for a nice place to stay that wasn't going to cost an arm and a leg. When I came across The Sealodge I read every review and looked at every unit and thought this place looked great! Boy were we blown away! The view was spectacular, we could see the ocean from every window. I could watch the sunrise from my bed. The place was super clean and kept up nicely. The place isn't super modern, but that doesn't bother me. Think wicker furniture. It was so quiet too, we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The grounds are nicely kept. There is a pool but we went to the beach instead. There are dishes, pots and pans, towels, boogie boards, games, extra sheets and blankets, etc. The Princeville area is very nice and close to Hanalei which is wonderful. Lots of resturaunts and shops and a great beach. I would stay here again and again and I would recommend it it anyone. I think it's one of Kauai's best kept secrets. Can we keep it that way? :) |

Stayed for 5 days in May, 2012 We had a terrific stay at Sealodge E8, really enjoyed our time there and would definitely go back. The location is perfect if you are visiting the North and East side of Kaua'i. Very convenient to everything yet it allows for privacy. The views from the condo are amazing. The surises and sunsets beyond compare. Yes, the hike to the beach is a bit steep and would be slippery if wet, luckily it was dry when we were there and we actually enjoyed hiking to the secluded Sealodge beach where there were no more than 10 people at any one time. The snorkeling there is pretty good too. We didn't bring ours, but it would be a great beach for the kids. We appreciated the beach mats provided. There was no one scheduled to come in after us and the housekeeper let us have a late check-out which allowed us to enjoy a full day before heading to the airport for our late flight. That was much appreciated! In previous reviews folks have mentioned the spotty WIFI - we had no problems catching a signal when we needed it. Overall the condo is in good shape. There are a couple of minor things that need attention. We also noticed the "knocking" sound from the fridge although it was infrequent. The light switches by the front door do not work. A few more regular water glasses would be nice, otherwise the kitchen is well stocked. The upholstery, curtains, blinds and fans could use a good cleaning at some point. We did not see any "critters". Sealodge E8 is a great place to spend your hard earned vacation and believe us, you will be relaxed by the time you leave. Go check it out and have a wonderful time. |

Stayed for 7 days in March, 2012 we entered the room and it smelt of was coming from the spare linen in garbage bags underneath the daybed by the window.3 hours and $20 of air freshener later it was only bearable.wtf.great view.quiet spot.outside of building is in very poor condition.apparently the room under us could hear every footstep we made and at 1 am he knocked on our door to say please stop walking around.oh,what we can't walk around? old design timber building lacking any refurbishment.really we would have preferred to pay another couple of hundred and had a better experience elsewhere.if you can put up with the above then i will say the main bed was very comfortable and the shower was great.the kitchen was ideal.thanks.hope this helps future travellers. |

The pictures do not even begin to show the beauty of the views. It was so incredible waking up every morning to a beautiful sunrise view from the comfort of your bed! The condo was very clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. We cooked a lot of our meals and we had all the utensils we needed to do so! There were also beach chairs, boogie boards, some snorkeling gear, movies, books, games, etc etc that made the stay a lot of fun too!My favorite place to hang out was the bay window in the front room. The view was so beautiful I couldn't believe it! Princeville is a quiet, peaceful town compared to the rest of the island-- perfect for a relaxing vacation! You are given a code to the door at the condo so you never even have to deal with checking in, and we never heard our neighbors-- we felt like we had it all to ourselves! Close to serene beachs and great hikes! Bring change for the laundry on site; we packed a little baggie of laundry soap and dryer sheets to save on buying it there. We are very pleased with our stay if you can't tell from this review; we'd stay again! |

It is out of the way, yet convenient for Hanalei and grocery shopping. Little places to eat and shop near by too. A bit far if you are spending lots of time on the South or West, but a one day trip that way is not bad. So worth it for the spectacular view. We woke to wonderful sunrises over the Kilauea Lighthouse and Anini Beach. Peaceful. Lack of Air conditioning was not a problem for us since the sea breeze cooled everything off fine. Great little condo for two trying to lay back and rest and spend time together. |

The views cannot be beat and the unit was comfortable. It is well equipped (although the blinds were broken in living room and kitchen - a bit annoying) and has everything you will need for your stay. Nice bedding, towels, shower - even had beach chairs and boogie board. I wish the beach had been more accessible - very steep walk and it was rainy for the first couple of days so very muddy and slippery. Close to shopping and only 15 minutes to Hanalei Beach so location otherwise was great! I would stay there again but if you are looking for something plush this is more standard fare. They were very accommodating and overall it was a great experience! |

We have stayed in another Sealodge unit many times but this was our first time in this one. The only things that dropped the score a little was the lack of on-site WI-FI and no fan. As we read though, in the info, there were a couple of WI-FI signals in the area so that wasn't really that big a deal. We answered "yes" to the question about recommending this unit to a friend to show our rating of the place but we aren't telling anyone about it. We did exactly that with the unit where we normally stay and it ended up rented at the time we normally use it. So you got us in E8 and we will be back. The owners should upgrade the furtiture and fixtures to something more modern. Princeville, in my opinion, is the ONLY place to stay on the island, and SeaLodge is in one of the most ideal spots with both ocean and mountain views. The condos are kept in pristine condition and our unit was simple yet clean and functional. The view was tremendous--just how it looks in the pictures! I would recommend this unit in a heartbeat. Some things you should know:There is no air-conditioning, but the unit is kept fairly cool by the natural ocean breezes.There is very limited wireless internet connection in this unit.The Sealodge Beach involves a fairly treacherous hike, but it's worth it. If you're interested in easy beach access, several great beaches are a short drive north in Hanalei. |

I would sometimes just lie in bed and stare out the window at the vast Pacific Ocean. My ONLY complaint was that our specific rental wasn't as clean as it could be--the carpet hadn't been vacuumed (there were small pieces of lego toys, and food particles on the ground), and we did find a couple of ****-roaches on the counter the first night. No big deal to us; they never reappeared. Like I said, the view and location could cancel out anything bad about this place. We also loved having use of the beach chairs and extra beach towels in the closet. |

Sealodge E-8, Princeville, Hi A guest from Veneta, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in April, 2010 I stayed w/a friend for 10 nights and we loved the location overlooking the reef. It was a good location for us in that our main interest was to explore beaches and the surrounding area. It was cooler than usual and windy as heck most of the 10 days. The unit was pretty clean on the surface, but lots of food crumbs in cupboards and on top of frig. We did a catch and release of 2 roaches. They had pretty good kitchen tools, except: a warped cutting board and a rusted can opener. Our only real problem w/the unit was the smell of mold. The exaust fan in the bathroom was clogged and not venting out. We left windows closed during our time away, as instructed, but the place had a very moldy smell to come home to.The units vary in decor and upgrade, so I would stay here again, just in another unit. We found our stay to be mostly pretty quiet, except for some construction in the unit above. We used the small pool once, but too windy to enjoy much of that. We were glad they had laundry on the property. Be sure and get the codes for the pool and laundry before you arrive, we had to ask around to get them. We were quite taken by the beautiful views. Be sure to check out the island farmers market schedule~they are well worth going to.
