Thomas K. from Fresno, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2016 We rented this property based on the reviews and pictures. We were very pleased with the furnishings and especially the view. The grounds are very well maintained and we enjoyed the boardwalk that goes for several miles for morning walks. Kitchen is well equipped and the dishwasher was very quiet so could be run while we were in the unit. We did have to contact maintenance for the faucet in the tub. It was fixed the next day and worked great. We would recommend this place. Many of the units in this building are being updated and work on the units started a week before the date posted in the hall. So we did have noise - the worst was when the tile was being removed with a jackhammer. That was a long noisy day. For local food we enjoyed the Pono Market on the next block.
Vanessa D. from Opelika, AL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2015 My husband and I stayed in Pono Kai for Christmas and it was perfect. The sunrise is immaculate and you can watch it from the Porch. It is very quiet despite being a "resort condominium" but does not have the "resort" feel which is nice!
Robert G. from Fountain Hills, AZ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2015 Great location easy to drive to North and South shore unfortunately for us there was beach construction all weeks our ocean views were blocked by heavy equipment roadwork. I called back Ahh Aloha to request a partial rebate credit or credit towards next VRBO ..the company declined me flat?? Condo was clean and grounds were nice otherwise. I would call next time in advance to check environmental conditions. As for Kauai a gorgeous island BUT not the best to visit in winter months rainy and stormy we had to cancel a fishing trip due t 6-8 ft seas.
A guest from Dulverde, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 18 days in July, 2015 Just want to say thank you for an easy and effortless vacation rental experience. Ahh Aloha was helpful and as our plans changed several times and our reservation modified, they quickly made the changes necessary and were extremely helpful. We were so pleased with every aspect of the rental processs and the rental property that we would rent again from Ahh Aloha and definitely stay in the same rental property.
Caryn S. from Lakebay, Washington recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2015 Wish the property included trash can liners.Quiet with a spectacular view and steps to to water. Walking distance to shops and cafes/
Gale G. from Bellingham, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in November, 2014 We had a very nice vacation. The condo had a beautiful ocean view. It was setback a bit from the beach. Before our arrival I was disappointed that we were not in one of the condos situated loser to the beach, but it proved to be the best location. Our view was not hindered and I felt we had more privacy as a public path runs between the condos and the beach. We had more privacy. The unit was set up for all our needs, with an equipped kitchen, beach chairs, a cooler and snorkeling gear. The only suggestion I would make is to eliminate some of the furniture. Both on the lanai and in the living/dining room we were hindered in walking by excess furniture.Staying in the Pona Kai put us within a short drive of everything on the island. Supermarkets, restaurants and the airport wrere all just a short drive away.Community parks were on both sides of our property. Browsing local stores was accessed by just walking out of our condo and walking a few feet to the little downtown shopping area.On our first morning I thought I was hearing things when I heard a rooster crowing, but we were to find out that the island residents include free range chickens that one encounters everywhere you venture. It was fun to watch them. I was very surprised not to encounter chicken waste. We had a wonderful time and the grounds of the Pona Kai are setup with many BBQs. There are tennis courts, a pool, mini golf, volleyball courts and bicycles for guests to use.
A guest from Toronto, Ontario recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2014 The details worked out perfectly. The view from the unit was terrific and we could walk along the shore and to some local restaurants. The unit was not all that sound proof but it wasn't a big issue.
Peter W. from Ottawa, ON recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in April, 2014 This rental was in a great location, centrally located and right on a beach. It was a very clean, well maintained property and a great price. Everything was as advertised and the staff were all very professional.
Robert H. from Athens, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2013 We were quite happy with our stay in the condo in this resort. The only aspect that was a bit lacking was the information about the property and procedures prior to our arrival and during our stay. Because of this lack of communication, I was not sure that we were even booked into this unit until the week prior to our trip. We could have used more information about the procedures for checking in and checking out. Other than that, we were very happy with the unit - it was rather strange to have a rental condo as part of a resort.
A guest from Coquitlam, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 19 days in October, 2013 We loved the 3 blocks of old Kapaa town adjacent to the resort but the traffic is terrible day and night because the main road narrows to two lanes in this area. The Pono Kai is at the end of a wonderful 5 mile walking/cycling path along the beach that we used every day.The condo was very clean, the view is super, the kitchen well equipped, and the furniture is comfortable. On the negative side, we were disappointed that there was no welcome information or packet of coffee upon arrival. I usually rely on the comments from the owner or previous guests for tips about the area and this is the first time I found absolutely nothing there. Some of the checkin info supplied by the mgmt company was also incorrect (there is wifi for purchase but the resort desk knew nothing about it, the contact # for the cleaning person was not posted in the condo). In addition, noise from the floor above can be pretty bad (I think they wore hiking boots around the condo during our last week), the bed is tired and a foam topper does not level out the tilt on the right side, and the air conditioner in the bedroom was quite noisy and needed servicing. All told, the condo was good value (roughly 2/3rds of what it would cost if you paid the resort's rates) and we did enjoy our stay.
Kent H. from Agoura Hills, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2013 Loved the place and location. However, the a/c didn't work so we relocated to a different condo. Great location. Loved the town of Kapaa. Shops and food nearby made if fun to get out and explore.
urvashi s. from wichita, kansas recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in August, 2013 Overall a good experience! The living room TV was not working till the last day! Finally when someone turned up to replace the TV. The front desk would NOT heed any complaints or concerns and tell me its a PRIVATE UNIT! They cannot help! The dishwasher one time started throwing the water out while running! We fixed it. The rubber on the side was loose!I hope the owner is able to compensate little bit!But overall, good experience! EXCELLENT location!
John H. from San Jose, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 A gentleman spends at least an hour every morning cleaning the shared bbq. He should get a raise. I used it and it worked perfectly. The kitchen ware is now complete after we pitched in to buy a spatula. We prepared alot of meals and the kitchen is great. The location really suited us. Easy walk to all the small shops lining the main drag that gets quiet about 10pm. There is great wide path that runs north and south along the coast, great for running, walking and biking. Only negative thing was we had the last key that wasn't where it was supposed to be and, of course the next day, I lost it. The management worked to get new locks and keys without inconveniencing us. We would stay again as soon as we can.
Ralph M. from Farmington, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2013 The condo was very nice. We like the Kapaa area as it is quiet, quaint and easy to get to and from this location. The air conditioning in the bedroom needs to be replaced - it makes a lot of noise. the remote control for the living area air conditioning does not work, but that problem was solved by using the bedroom remote for both locations. I would recommend the condo and would stay their again.
A guest from Scottsdale, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in April, 2013 We had a wonderful time the condo was clean and comfortable and had great views of the beach and it was an easy walk down the stairs and right on to the beach. Its was also a shot walk to local restaurants and bars. We even walked to the Wednesday farmers market. The location is right between going north or south on the island so either way is a less than an hour drive. We would definitely stay here again!
A guest from West Chester, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2013 Although the Hotel/Condos were located along a very busy strip in Kapa'a, we were pleasantly surprised with the condo - the full kitchen, size of living room, full/pull-out couch, matching recliners, etc. With the sea breezes and ceiling fans, we really didn't need the a/c. Behind the complex, there was a walking/riding path along the ocean that was perfect for early morning and late afternoon walks.Very convenient to many restaurants and shops.Of course, Kaua'i is a most beautiful vacation location.
A guest from San Antonio, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2012 Beautiful sunrises off the balcony!Enjoyed the walking path along the beach in both directions from the apt. Kapaa is an excellent location to explore the rest of Kauai from.
A guest from Salinas, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2012 A kitchen cabinet had a wood eating insect living in it thus causing dropping to be left on the ground. It seems an insect problem might have been known of because the units kitchen smelled very strongly of raid. Other than that the unit was very nice.
Jeff and Michele B. from Sidney, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 12 days in October, 2012 Great location.Grounds are very well maintained. 2 minute walk to great restaurants and shopping. Beach was just ok, good for wading/floating. Unit very clean. Walls/ceilings in the complex are thin (you can hear a lot from other units)Overall a great place and woud stay there again.
Christine P. from Redlands, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2012 My husband and I had a great time. The condo was nice and clean. We loved watching the sunset off the beach every morning. The only thing I wish the condo had is a washer and dryer in the unit. The mattress pad needs to be updated and the bed was a little uncomfortable, too. I would also recommend more comfortable pillows like down pillows.
Beautiful Condo with wonderful view in peaceful environment
Stephanie B. from Frankfurt, Hessen recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2012 Our stay was very relaxing. We loved the appartement, it is beautifully decorated, spacious, has all you can think of you need and is in a great location. One has the closeness to the north shore activities and beautiful views as well as the princeville shopping and sports activities. Very practical place, but one feels at home....
Linda S. from Yakima, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2012 We had a great stay and would love to stay here again! Fabulous location, neat, clean, comfortable. Pono Kai is a great place to vacation, it's an easy walk to the town and the beach. We had a fabulous time riding bikes along the beach path in the early morning hours. The place had everything we need and we appreciated the beach towels, chairs, cooler, etc.A couple of suggestions: 1. Put better fitting sheets on the bed. The ones we had were over-sized and would get wrinkled and come off in the night.2. An information notebook would be helpful to know how to use the air conditioner and the dishwasher. We could of called the helper, but we were able to figure out the dishwasher and didn't really need the air conditioner.
Lisa G. from Edmonds, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 15 days in December, 2011 I have stayed in many units at this particular property over the past 25 years and am always pleased. My husband and I stayed in this same unit 6 months ago and knew we wanted to reserve it for our annual Christmas trip. Ahhh Aloha was easy to work with both times. We hit a couple of small snags with our last stay - one being a mix up as to when our final payment was due. The other was the housekeeper did not get the laundered towels and linens back in the unit and it took 3 phnoe calls and 4 days to get dish towels and a second set of bath towels. Other than that, we will absolutely rent from them again!!
Ted H. from Burnaby, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in November, 2011 I assembled a short document with a few recommendations to enhance future guests' stay. This document has been shared with the property manager and the owner of G204.
A guest from Lacey, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2011 Overall, we loved staying at this condo. The view and the ocean breezes were great. And for the price, this place is a fantastic value. The reservation process was easy and the property manager was very responsive and professional. The location made it easy to get to just about any part of the island. There are several good restaurants within walking distance but we mostly utilized the well stocked kitchen to prepare meals in the condo to save money. If you want a 5-star (expensive with half the view) resort, there are other places to stay. If you want a great view for a great price, stay here.
Becky M. from Tulalip, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2011 The view was magnificent and just as advertised. The condo was clean and roomy. Bed comfortable and kitchen well stocked with dishes. Would definitely stay in this unit again.
Aaron R. from Monello, WI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 8 days in September, 2011 Overall this condo was decent. It could use some updating like a new mattress (this one we sank into & the pillows were terrible). The recliners were pretty spotted & the carpet was dirty. The bathroom could use nicer towels (they had bleach stains all over them) and a little upgrading as well. We were glad we didn't spend a whole lot of time in our condo. The grill was nice to access. We cooked a lot there. The cleaning people were nice to let us have a late check-out since our flight home was in the evening. I would definitely NOT recommend booking excursions with the staff at the Pono Kai. We were quoted a different cost for one of our excursions & didn't realize it until there was no way to cancel (24 hour notice required & we booked the night before). I called to talk with a manager & left a message for her, but got no response. We went down to talk with the same woman (Morgan) who booked the excursions & she promised us a manager would contact us. I heard nothing. I stopped in a 3rd time & had them refund the rest of the excursions we booked with them, & booked with a booth near the Safeway. Prices were cheaper there! Terrible customer service I feel. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kauai but would stay on the North Shore next time. It's the most beautiful part of the island and seemed to cater a little better to vacationers.
Morris H. from Hampton, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2011 Have stayed in Kauai 4 times before but never at this property. Chose it for it's location, central to just about everything. Everything was fine except that the air conditioning did not work. We called their on island property manager, and they had a portable unit delivered and working the next day. They did what they could. All & all a good stay. Hope they get the air fixed, the portable unit was somewhat noisy.
Kirsten C. from Wynnewood, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2011 We brought our two children, ages 4 and 5 to HI for the first time this summer, and after very long trip from Philadelphia, this was a very inviting place to land. We also found the place with no trouble, even though we arrived at night. The condo unit had a balcony that looked out on the water (perfect view!), and was a short walk to the best part of Kapaa. We also appreciated that all beach necessities, like chairs, umbrella, cooler, thermos, etc., were available. Thanks for a great stay!
A guest from Beavercreek, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in May, 2011 We had a great time while staying at Pono Kai G204. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the cooking implements and dish ware you could possible want. The view of the Pacific was spectacular. The Pono Kai staff were very helpful. And the A/C & paddle fans were a welcome relief. We have three critiques of which the owner is not responsible for: 1) noisy neighbors, 2) noisy roosters, and 3) traffic congestion in Kapaa due to the closure of the bypass from the recent flooding. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
Sherri P. from Stony Plain, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in December, 2010 only thing I would have changed is that the initial supplies were more than a partial roll of toilet paper and 4 tissues in kleenex box. As well as when property manager was contacted for possible later check out he said to contact the front desk (which has no dealings with these rentals) Overall very comfortably furnished would stay again Mahalo
A guest from Kihei, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2010 The condo was very well equipped and has a great view of the ocean! The kids had a wonderful time playing putt-putt and shuffleboard.
Jennifer C. from Hermosa Beach, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2010 As you walk in the door, the ocean view captures your attention immediately. Beautiful! The lanai faces directly toward it. Images posted online are accurate representations of the place. We were pleased. It was so handy having a kitchen stocked with all of the amenities you need to cook your own meal -- even a cheese grater! One thing worth noting is that the washer & dryer are NOT in the unit. They are shared with the rest of the complex. The best part of this unit is the view from the lanai. The area most in need of improvement is the smell of the towels. We washed them & they still had a musty smell. Our guess was that prior guests did the same & put them away before they were fully dry because the dryer does not dry them completely even on a light load. We ran them through the dryer cycle twice, but the smell lingers. We still recommend the place, though. It was a great home away from home while we were on vacation.
A guest from Puyallup, WA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2010 Good location but noise from the unit above was horrible. It made it very tough to relax and sleep. Plus the cockroaches were not fun to deal with. Next time I am in Kauai I'll book a different property.
Nichole T. from Reno, NV recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2010 I was extremely happy with our rental choice. This condo was very clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed to set up house for the time we were there. It was an ideal location and the views were amazing. We watched the sun rise over the ocean every morning from the balcony. The washer/dryer was a nice feature to have as well as all the bbq's on site. We look forward to visiting again and staying at the same place!
A guest from Watertown, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2010 This was perfect for a vacation on Kauai. Great view, having the bike path right there was an unexpected plus. The place had all comforts of home. I had a great time in Kauai and the condo was perfect for relaxing and looking at the ocean after a day at the beach or sightseeing.
A guest from Freeland, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2010 Took my mom to Kauai for her 80th birthday and stayed at the Pono Kai-LOVED our condo unit! Only downside is the beach-not good for swimming as the current is too strong and not a big enough beach to lay in the sand. The walking trail along the shore is perfect to use and people watch! We loved out stay and can't wait to go back next year.
Christopher S. from Austin, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2010 I did a ton of research on the different cities on Kauai and then the different places to stay in each city before booking our trip. Kapaa came out the clear winner and after 8 days there my research proved dead on. Pono Kai has the perfect location in Kapaa as well. Unit G204 was clean, well maintained, has great appliances, a comfortable bed, nice TVs and cable(only turned them on to see if they worked!), internet access for a small price, and a good AC unit!So why Kapaa? Because it has nice beaches, is in the middle of the island and less than an hour drive to anything on the island, and feels like an old Hawaiian town instead of a giant Maui tourist trap like the stuff in Princeville. Seriously, if you want that kind of vacation go to Maui or Oahu, not Kauai! From Pono Kai there are at least 20 reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance. There is a several mile long paved walking trail along the beach literally a stones throw from the condo. There were even reasonably priced grocery stores less than a mile from the condo where we bought milk, bread, cereal, and other necessities.Having a full sized fridge in the room made a huge difference in both the cost and quality of our vacation. We lived on fruit from the farmers market, ahi poke from the fish markets, and fresh whole grain breads from the bakery located a block from Pono Kai. Thanks to our central location on the island we hiked in Waimea and also went to Princeville area a few times to hike on the Na Pali coast. There were half a dozen hikes within 5 minutes of Kapaa as well. Also on property they have a putting green area, shuffle board, croquet, and volleyball court. So now for the down side which is FAR FAR out weighed by the above goodness but should be mentioned. Roosters do crow early every morning. If there are people upstairs you can hear them but was never a big deal for us even with kids upstairs. Pool wasn't great
Matt H. from Rancho Cordova, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in May, 2010 The walls and floors are paper thin so be prepared to hear every footstep, cough, sneeze, and conversation taking place within 25 feet.
A guest from Placerville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 21 days in May, 2010 Very relaxing vacation. Everything you need is close ar hand. After a day of exploring and swimming the Lazy Boy reclyner felt great. We'll be back!
A guest from Calgary, ALB does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2010 We enjoyed our stay and would return.....great location and facilities.....carpets were not very clean.....thank you
A guest from Edmonton, ALB recommends this property. Stayed for 21 days in April, 2010 Fabulous place! My husband and I have stayed there 2 years in a row! The only downside is the bed...mattress is not very comfortable..nothing a new mattress wouldn't cure! Highly recommended!
