Modern, clean, uncluttered, spacious and comfortable!
A guest from sacramento, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2016 Better than home away from home! This house was more than enough for our family: kids (age 3 to 14 yrs, )had room to roam downstairs room with TV and games, adults was able to 'visit' upstairs, teens congregated around kitchen and breakfast bar. Floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors allowed light and breeze in. Was able to enjoyed view from 2 large decks. We were able to utilize restaurants, lake, stores, and gas stations nearby. Your home made our stay comfortable and relaxing!!! Thank you for allowing us to stay here.Disappointments: The refrigerator's water and ice dispenser leaked. Before the trip I tried to get a few questions and some clarifications....and my call was not returned till I called second time.
Reviewed by: Greg C. recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2016 We were amazed at the size of this home and the view it offered from 2 decks. The huge kitchen was a real advantage. Enjoyed the big stone fireplace too. Would definitely stay here again.
A guest from Roseville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2016 Very clean home that fit two families comfortably. Recent snow and sloping back yard made for excellent sledding for the kids (bring your own sleds, theirs were broken). Kitchen well stocked; great location in Tahoe Donner.
A guest from Danville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2016 Our family had a great time. The house location was good and had a wonderful view. Close to skiing and snow sports. If you are a wine drinker make sure you bring wine glasses as we only found a couple. All in all it was a good experience and I would recommend this property.
Awesome Spacious Cabin with a few Maintanence Issues
Christopher H. from Fremont, California recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in January, 2016 Very spacious, clean, nice front driveway area to snowball fight. Would definitely book again. My only gripes: The balconies were all snowed over so they were unusable. There was a hot tub that was also unusable. Downstairs toilet was not working.
Property Manager Response: Response from First Accommodations There is no hot tub on property...
A guest from Oakland, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2015 This is a nice, spacious home within Tahoe Donner with great views off the back deck. It's an above average rental, and could be improved with a few additions such as outdoor furniture, a fully functioning oven (we could only get convection to work, which was fine for our needs), a full propane tank for the BBQ (upon arrival the tank was nearly empty), and, most importantly, as other reviewers have mentioned, the bar stools in the kitchen are quite dangerous and should immediately be replaced. The home is otherwise well-appointed, if sparse, and would be especially well-suited for families with older kids -- adults could enjoy the upstairs area while kids could play/watch tv in the second family room on the lower level.
John L. from New Braunfels, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in July, 2015 Gorgeous views, beautiful sunrises, perfect size for my clan. Could not operate the upstairs tv nor the oven. Should replace or remove the mats in the kitchen. Downstairs commode clogged easily.
A guest from Lafayette, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 Great location a street away from Tahoe Donner ski resort and close to Truckee and Squaw. Quiet street overlooking the area and perfect for entertaining. Super clean and set up so you don't have to worry about bringing anything for cooking. Separate area downstairs with deck and family space for kids while adults are upstairs. Big garage to keep your car in, two story ceilings and spacious sleeping quarters. Will be back again, impressed with the management of this rental.
A guest from Santa Monica, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2015 11 of us spent the weekend here for a bachelorette party. The house was beautiful with great views from the main floor! It was very clean and put together. The kitchen was huge and open, making it fun for all of us to cook together and hang out. Very close to Squaw Vally - so we were able to go snow tubing for the day. Overall, we had a wonderful time.
Jenny S. from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2014 Lovely house, very clean. Accommodates multiple families without feeling cramped. We were six adults and six kids - no problem. Would definitely rent this house again. Trent was very responsive and helpful at the management company.
ALBERTO M. from MEXICO, BENITO JUAREZ recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2011 we really enjoyed the house and it´s instalations. All worked perfect. The only thing that can be revisited is the different items at the Garage room. It was a little like a Wharehouse.. we regret for not having the possibility to use the Barbaque Grill..The rest perfect and very enjoyable and clean.Thank you!!

Jonathan L. from Fairfield, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2011 As soon as we walked into the house we were in awe at how beautiful the house was. We registered and planned on having 12 people stay there but only 9 did but the house was so spacious it easily would have slept more. We are already thinking about our next trip to Tahoe and are going to try to book the Shire again. Thanks for a great 2 night stay!
Great Property-- but beware of location during a storm
A guest from San Franicsco, California recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in February, 2011 We loved everything about staying at the Shire-- great floor plan, wonderful family area, totally clean, beautiful view, plenty big for three families-- except the fact that the street wasn't plowed when we got there. Our party couldn't get into the property for the first 24 hours of the rental. Now, I'm sure this would only be a problem for the two snowiest weekends of the year, but we happened to be there during one of them.
Such a beautiful vacation house!!! Our whole family is very satisfied with our stay in this spacious, clean, and breathtaking sc
Hazel A. from San Jose, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2011 We enjoyed our stay so much and the place is so cozy that my parents can't stop complimenting the house! We will definitely rent this place again.
Carmen C. from Antelope, California recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2011 This property was the perfect vacation spot for our family. My siblings and I went up with our kids 8 adults and four children(ages 2 through 11). The house was beautiful inside and out. Plenty of room to hang out and relax. The backyard is really big and slopes downward, exactly what we wanted for winter play. We spent our entire stay playing/sledding outside - we never had to leave the property. Looking forward to making this an annual trip.
Sharon B. from Alameda, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2010 This is, without question, the nicest ski rental we've ever had. It's gorgeous, huge, beautifully designed, and looks like it was built yesterday -- it's pristine. It's less than 20 minutes from almost all north lake resorts, and has a HUGE backyard, great for sledding with kids. The only complaint was with the furniture; both the bar stools and dining chairs tip over easily, and several adults and kids took a spill. Otherwise, virtually flawless.
