For those seeking relaxation, watch a sea turtle take a nap in the sand as the sun sets.

Got a little more time? Take the gang on a drive around the island! Or experience the true diversity of this island -- which in one day may take you to as many distinct climates as you'd experience in a dozen countries! Drive "upcountry" 30 minutes to Waimea and go horseback riding at Parker Ranch -- 230,000 acres of amazing open space! Then cut over Highway 250 on the north end for Hawi's "wild west" small town feel and meander through artist studios in search of home-made ice cream, Kona coffee, and shaved ice. Another day, head east to see Hilo's awesome Akaka Falls, rainforest, and botanical gardens! Go stargazing on Mauna Kea -- nearly 14,000 feet above sea level (and the tallest mountain in the world, if you measure from the ocean floor!)

Have an extra day or two? You can not miss the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park! If you can swing it, stay a night down at the Volcano House Lodge overlooking the crater! The place is so awesome that you really cannot cover it in a day if you want to go for hikes in the park. Stop at one of the black sand beaches on the way home. There is even a hidden green sand beach if you are really adventurous!

You will be just a one-block walk from fine dining (Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Steak, Seafood, Pizza, Noodles, etc.) and a gourmet market that makes great lunches for day trips. The King's Shops and the Queen's Shops each have free entertainment and family activities, such as ukulele contests and hula lesson. There are even rock concerts -- the Beach Boys were just there this month!
