Reviewed by: John D M. recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2016 There Sept 27 - Oct 4 - Very comfortable Nice place, fans kept things a nice temp. Not very noisy. Beds Comfortable. The GPS directions provided by Ahh Aloha are not totally accurate, they point about 3 blocks away form the actual unit. Other directions provide are better. But didn't realize that and had to call to figure out where 11B was (actually says B 11)
A guest from Vienna, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 12 days in June, 2016 Patio view in picture is accurate but furniture was clearly weathered - not stained as shown. Unit is spacious; nice location near the pool but VERY outdated. Had the opportunity to be in two other units nearby that made us question our rental. Owner should invest some money but appears they are selling. We were asked if they could show the unit one day to a potential buyer. Should've been reimbursed for the inconvenience. TV is from the 90's as pictured, so watching TV is difficult. Carpet was clean but clearly very old - not white like in picture (was flamenco pink); SEVERAL blinds (approx. 6-8)in living room were missing making it hot in the afternoon when sun was setting; screen door lock was broken, so we did not feel comfortable leaving doors open to get breeze; no blinds in dining room as shown in pictures; needs some paint touchup (e.g. paint was peeling on one of the bathroom doors). Would maybe recommend to a friend. Just trying be honest and help the owner.
Ellen B. from Alameda, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2016 Good place to stay, can't complain. Will come back if we get the chance in the future. The vacation rental is just few miles from restaurants, shop/stores, beach and activities/attractions.
John C. from Honolulu, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2016 Great facility centrally located in Princeville close to the community grill, pool & hottub, Makai/Mauka Golf Courses, Princeville Town center, few miles away from Hanalei and NaPali Coast.. The facility itself feels welcoming and really charming. The TV is definitely outdated, but when you're in Kauai television should be the LAST thing on your agenda so no complaints there. If you have children and TV is essential, bring a laptop of Ipad. Overall this place is awesome, great spot and really easy to come and go. Neighbors are very nice and everything felt safe even when we accidentally left the door unlocked for a few hours while grabbing coffee and breakfast. The only negative feedback I will provide b/c honestly this place is cherry, is that the master bed is kind of awkward and there's a middle gap so when sleeping next to your loved one, hopefully distance isn't an issue. Very comfy bed and cool breeze, quiet spot and you can hear the waves crashing from the guest room, very peaceful!
Tetyana G. from Boulder Creek, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in February, 2016 We stayed in this property 2 times and we loved it. Location is great, the complex has pool and Jacuzzi. It's clean and the kitchen has everything you may need. I gave it 4 stars because we did not think the beds were comfortable. Also, the TV needs to be upgraded long time ago.
Bob B. from Ojibwa, WI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 42 days in May, 2015 The view from the (small) lanai was awesome. The unit is just a few steps from the pool and covered lanai. These are the pros. This unit badly needs an update. The cushions on the furniture are worn and torn and provide very little support. The wood outdoor furniture is very uncomfortable for any extended use. The worn carpet was badly stained. The sheets did not fit the bed in the master bedroom...too large. Windows and screens are badly in need of repair. Dining room curtains had holes/spots in them. The heating element in the clothes dryer went out near the end of our stay and we could not finish laundry prior to leaving.
A guest from Vancouver, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in May, 2014 Even though the property is nice, the fact that there was loud construction noise non stop made it a bit unpleasant.Should had been advised on this regard.
Property Manager Response: Response from Ahh Aloha Kauai Vacation Rentals We agree completely, this was terrible! Some of the Alii Kai II units are timeshares, and they were remodeling the one upstairs and the one next door WITHOUT LETTING US KNOW! It really was awful, with a big construction dumpster outside the kitchen window and loud banging and workmen going in and out. We can only apologize. If we had known in advance, we would have relocated the guest to a different location :-(
A guest from CALGARY, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2014 We have spent 3 nights in the Unit 11B at Alii Kai. Princeville is a good location to visit the North Shore of Kauai, and we appreciated that (as we had spent 3 other nights in the South). There is a Foodland store in Princeville to get supplies and groceries, as well as many shops and restaurants in Hanalei a few miles away. The resort is quite big, with nice swimming pool and hot tub.The condo itself is a 2 bed/2 baths, and decent size. The unit was ready for us when we arrived. It's well equipped, a bit outdated though, and the view on the garden (and a little bit on the ocean in the distance) was nice and quiet. There were a few bad points though...The beds were old and not comfortable. Overall, the kitchen and the appliances were not really clean, and there was a lot of dust in the condo (clearly due to a lack in cleaning). There were also construction works as some units are being remodeled. I wish I knew when booking as this means a lot of noise from 9am to 5pm!! Then, I also left a voice message to ask for a late check-out and had no call back. And the Alii Kai office couldn?t help. Too bad!
karen f. from middletown, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2014 I found the 8 page rental agreement way over the top. I was on another vacation when trying to negotiate this rental and they wanted me to print out the 8 pages and fax it to them I told them I had no access to a printer and fax machine. They said it needed to be be done due to signatures. My daughter somehow turned this into an email and signed on my iPad and sent it to them only to be told I didn't initial in the 5th spot and one page was missing. After several phone calls and much stress they accepted my agreement over the phone. This whole ordeal caused a great deal of stress while on vacation. There has to bean easier way.
A guest from Lexington, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2013 Everything was fine. I would have liked the provision for sleeping a fifth person to have been a bit better - either a pull-out futon with frame would be better than a mattress on the floor. Other than that, the place was clean and well furnished; the location was central to what we wanted to do. We enjoyed our visit.
A guest from Princeville, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2013 My sister, boyfriend and I were visiting our parents who live in another Alii Kai condo. We were very pleased with the condo being so close to the pool and barbeque. We are into surfing so having Hanalei Bay close by was a big plus. The condo was clean and well maintained. We would recommend it to other visitors wanting a quiet and relaxing place to stay on the North Shore.
A guest from Novato, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 the location and rental team were excellent. Views were a nice surprise, poll was great. But...the place was a bit worn out..the master bed linens were literally in shreds..the pillowcase had a huge tear in it..bath rugs stained torn, etc. refrigerator exterior was rusted all over, dryer vent needs to be vacuumed out, needs carpets cleaned. For the price maybe that is what to expect?
Dorothy O. from White Horse, YK recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2013 This condo was so much more than we expected, we were totally surprised upon arrival. We had everything we needed and more, the place was spotless clean and very tastefully decorated. We were late booking and only managed to book a few nights here...spoiled us for the rest of our trip as nothing came remotely close to 11B Ali'i Kai. Next trip we will book early and hopefully stay the entire trip in this fabulous home. Thank You.
Melissa E. from Queen Charlotte, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2013 This was a great place for us to stay and i can't say too many bad things. But there were a few issues worth mentioning mainly because they can be easily corrected...The directions to the property were not entirely clear. We didn't realize that each building within Alii Kai had a name which would have helped. Also, it wasn't made clear that we were in Alii Kai II. (note: we were exhausted from travel so we were likely also a bit dim about it and it was dark which made it that much more challenging). When I called the number provided to get additional directions there was only voicemail that promised to return the call or text right away. I was surprised that no one bothered to check to make sure we got in alright. The kitchen was a bit oddly stocked with tons of glasses and plates, no room for grocery storage and a few essentials missing (cookie sheet, cheese grater). BUt this is pretty nitpicky and we were happy that there was a blender and coffee grinder! The condo isn't stocked with beach goodies (snorkel, mats, toys etc) as was thought but rather these are shared by the complex and found in a bin by the office...which was often rather empty. So be warned that if you are intent on a few items, bring them with you or buy them at Costco. Lastly, be forewarned that the walls are VERY thin here. The neighbors upstairs were loud at times but luckily quieted down after about 10.30pm. Otherwise, this place was just as advertised. It was clean and the view spectacular! We really enjoyed our stay, regardless of what was mentioned above and I would book again.
A guest from La Mirada, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2012 The unit itself was well maintained. Not sure about safety as there was a robbery in condo close to us on our second day but cops were at the scene right away. Master Suite faces the parking lot so can be noisy in the morning and not a good idea to sleep in and relax. Very clean property. Old furniture and appliances. Great as crash pad though.
Todd G. from Edmonton, Alberta recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in April, 2012 Really enjoyed our stay here! It was awesome having all the beach gear available for our use! Things like beach chairs, cooler, snorkel's and flippers, cildrens toys, umbrella's etc. The condo is very well set up with accessories. The views from the lanie are beautiful . We would definetly stay here again and would recommend it to friends.
