2'nd times of staying in the Kona makai TAKASHI S. from Hitachi, Ibaraki recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in March, 2016 Every things were very good to have splendid vacation except purformances of the washing machine and drying machine which didn't work well
Great place, really enjoyed it! A guest from Colorado Springs, CO recommends this property.
Stayed for 13 days in March, 2016 The place was comfortable, staff helpful, great location. The unit is nice, AC was very welcome. TV service was ok, not outstanding. The lanai has a great view. Pool and workout room were good additions. We had a problem with the DVD player and staff replaced with no problems. Very close to downtown and other sites.
Highly Recommend! Brigette K. from La Grande, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 8 days in March, 2016 Beautiful views, beautiful grounds, rooms were clean, and had everything we needed. close to restaurants and shopping. I will be staying here again!
Kona Vacation David T. from Falmouth, XX recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in February, 2016 We had a great stay here. The flat was very comfortable, well equipped, quiet and it's location was excellent having a lovely sea view. We would choose to stay here again.
We love the Kona Makai! A guest from Parksville, BC recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in February, 2016 Everything was perfect except for the washing machine was hard to get to work and it would have been nice to have more plastic dishes for the barbecue area.
Beautiful property but not family friendly A guest from Seattle, WA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 5 days in May, 2015 The complex is not family friendly. Although children and families are allowed, the endless list of rules posted in multiple locations made our family not feel welcome here. Keep in mind children under the age of 2 (or in swim diapers) not allowed in the pool - something we were not made aware of prior. Some rules felt like condo board members personal pet-peeves as opposed to rules that would keep guests safe and the grounds clean. The unit we stayed in was nice, although a bit dirty when we arrived. The appliances are older and both the dishwasher and clothes washer did a poor to fair job of washing items. The unit is not set up for children - our 5 year old could not reach a sink to wash hands. The DVD player did not work. The view was stunning and the grounds are beautiful and they keep the shared bbq area very clean and there is a nice seating area for eating near the water. The complex is geared for the retired community and I wish we had been aware prior to booking and arriving.
A lovely stay A guest from Tacoma, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 8 days in March, 2015 Kind of a last minute rental due to circumstances beyond our control. Found this unit and since I had stayed on the same property but in a different I made the reservation. Wasn't disappointed at all. The unit had recent updates to the kitchen and bathroom but most important of all the bed was great. Some things were a little dated but in the big picture it was perfect for us. I would go back if the opportunity presents itself only would stay longer.

Stayed for 8 days in March, 2015 We enjoyed our stay in Kona; great location, bautiful ocean views and loved hearing the crashing waves at night!!The unit was okay....loved the high ceilings but overall it was a little tired and dated. The kitchen was poorly designed and the living room was dark. Other than looking out onto an often noisy parking lot, the bedroom was great. Artwork was hung way too high and there were far too many scatter rugs throughout. For the price, it should have been a little more put together.
Great location A guest from Dublin, OH recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in December, 2014 We were just there dec 21 to 28th, 2014 and really liked the place. The view was fabulous and the kids enjoyed staying in the loft. Everything is nicely updated. We only had a couple issues, the sliding glass door was very hard to open and the DVD player had a DVD stuck in it. If u like the Jason Bourne movie then u r in luck. Because that's what was stuck in it. I called the realty company and they sent someone out. They fixed the sliding door but not the DVD player. Also it's time to replace the pillows because they r flat as pancakes. Otherwise we had a great stay and would definitely stay there again if we ever make it back. I would also refer my friends and family as well.

Stayed for 7 days in December, 2014 We love this unit. You do have to be able to walk up a few flights of stairs. The unit is very clean and beautiful. Beds are very comfortable. Kitchen is very well stock - sharp knifes are available for cooks. Lots of beach towels available, but do bring your own snorkel gears. The management company is very responsive. We left it a voice mail asking for the TV remote control's batteries to be replaced and it is done the second morning. We will certainly come back.
Kona Makai 6305 Review Jon B. from Woodland, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 8 days in October, 2014 Dealing with renting the Condo was easy. The condo was more than I expected for the price. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need to make most meals. The layout, beds and overall appeal of the condo were top notch. We did have a few issues during our stay. The washing machine was broken (the rental company did let us know that a few days before arrival), if we had stayed over a week this would have been an issue. When we arrived to the condo there was a note saying they were spraying our apartment for bugs at 9:30 in the morning, not what you want to see upon getting to the condo. I know it is necessary to spray in HI, otherwise you end up with all sorts of critters, but it made us rush to get out of the condo the first full day we were there. Finally, the condo maintenance crew decided to fix the concrete patios on our building while we were there, including our patio. This started around 8:30 - 9 in the morning, usually while we were out enjoying the great morning views on the deck. They did not clean up afterwards and we were left trying to clean our patio of the fine grit that was left after their repairs. DESPITE these things, great condo, great views, I would rent here again. Just terrible timing on when we were there.
Would rent again! Tina M. from Georgetown, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in March, 2014 Property is in a great location, approx. 1 mile from restaurants, shops and activities. Furnishings were nice. Property was clean and well maintained. Management company was helpful with information regarding grocery store locations, activities, etc. Would recommend for a couple or a family with up to 2 children as upstairs is a loft with 2 twin beds.
Beautiful location Tracy J. from Anchorage, Alaska recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in December, 2013 The place was beautiful and the location was great. The beds were very comfortable and the unit was clean. The pool was nice and the location was walking distance to town and very convenient. There were a couple things that will make it so we don't rent here again. First the water alarm went off in the middle of the night 4 out of the 5 nights we were there. The internet was sporadic and made doing any kind of work on the internet impossible. The manager of the place said they new it was a problem and might be fixed next month. Not overly helpful. After staying in many Condo's through the years in Kona, this was the only one where we felt like unwelcome guests. The language in the departure directions was "you will be charged" for leaving laundry other then a towel and sheets, garbage in the cans, food in the fridge, anything out of place. For the price of the condo, I would think that there is a cleaning service that attends to the place. The rental company was also very nice and competent, but there were far greater steps and hoops to jump through than other rental companies. For our time and money I believe we will stick with Aloha Condo's from here.
Excellent stay!! Kenneth G. from Lake Stevens, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 14 days in July, 2013 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kona Makai and would definitely tell friends about it. We had great responses from the rental company, the condo was very clean, well stocked and met all our needs!
Cleanliness A guest from Park Rapids, MN recommends this property.
Stayed for 6 days in July, 2013 Bathroom could have been cleaner...bath mats had not even been shaken much less washed. Air conditioner filters were not clean. Two light bulbs missing from lamps. The condo itself was beautiful and roomy having been refurbished recently. If cleaning had been done this would be a perfect place to enjoy a vacation.

Stayed for 30 days in March, 2013 A wonderful condo 3rd fl-no elevator. 1.5 mi from downtown Kailua. We have been staying on the Big Island for 12 years, and the Kona Makaisuits us very well. Right on the water with great views, Bar-B-Ques clean and work well. Great pool area. Condo is well appointed with all the comforts of home. Could use some new lanai furniture, and new outside fan. For a stay of over 30 days the "starting amenities" were not adequate. Had to purchase a lot of product from Walmart/Target/Safeway/Costco etc. Homeowners Assoc have a lot of "rules" to insure their own solitude and quiet times. The grounds are gorgeous, and very clean. Gated for your security. A great place for a family of 4. 1 bd/1ba with a loft of 2 single beds.
Four star stay A guest from Cohasset, Minn recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in February, 2013 We really appreciated the quality of the furnishings of our unit plus the unit was supplied with anything needed for cooking which made cooking our meals more enjoyable. The property was very well maintained and the properties rules allowed for a quiet and peaceful stay.
Nice Vacation Unit A guest from Keyport, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 13 days in February, 2013 This is second time we've stayed in this unit. The furnishings, including kitchen wares, are top notch. Would have liked to have had a nice cooler provided. Carpet in bedroom could use cleaning. A screened front door would be nice. Overall, one of the nicer units we've stayed in at Kona Makai and we've been coming for almost 20 years.
Kona Makai #6305 on the Big Island Dell H. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 23 days in March, 2012 We used to use Property Network, but because of some "changes" Prince Properties are now the agent that we use for the Kona Makai. We have been coming to the Big Island for the past 10 years, as our "Island of Choice". The Kona Makai is our "condo of Choice". It's getting more and more expensive to visit the islands, and since we are on a "retired" budget, we keep looking for other locations that "may" fit our needs. Is is possible for you to send us, or offer a website, of "other properties" similar to the Kona Makai? We have made tentative arrangements for next year (2013) for 4 weeks ( 1 month), in March/April.
Kona Makai 6305 A guest from Carlsbad, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in March, 2012 The unit is very comfortable. It is renovated with good-quality furniture and lovely cabinetry. The view is wonderful. We saw whales, spinner dolphins and outrigger canoes from the balcony. We were able to snorkel right off the lava at the back of the property. We did not find it to be a good walking location as Ali'i drive is a noisy place to walk. But everything else about the location we enjoyed, especially the gentle Kona breezes. No need for A/C as the unit has 6 fans. The Kona Makai condo complex has wonderful landscaping with many unusual Hawaiian plants. It was very quiet. And we appreciated the Kona coffee gift.
Kona Makai 6305 Bonnie P. from Keyport, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 14 days in January, 2012 This was by far the nicest condo in Kona Makai we have stayed in, in terms of the furnishings and remodeling.
Kona Makai 6-305 James C. from Salem, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 8 days in November, 2011 Would have been nice to have a few plastic plates and bowels that could be taken down to the pool area. WiFi that is available at the complex is very weak, slow and the band width isn't enough. WiFi in the unit itself would be a great addition. Also ATTENTION: The stool chairs on the Lanai are rusting and the bolts are breaking that hold the seat on the stool and legs. Very dangerous condition. One chair out of service, and another one on its way. It would be nice if the spices and other cooking items that people left behind were left available guests. That helps cut down on incidental costs for such things. Otherwise, great!

Stayed for 22 days in March, 2011 We have stayed in this facility for the past 9 years. It's a great location for accessibility to Kailua,Kona. The amenities for very satisfactory, views are great, as you are right on the water. The facility, itself, is set up for adults, because of all their rules for children under 14, and supervision etc. yet many do bring small children and have a great time, around the pool area. We have stayed in other condos on Maui, in the past, and have found out that the Kona Makai is "the best".
we arrived at 4:30 on Sunday 2/27/2011 the condo had not been cleaned after the previous tenant. Since it was a Sunday no one a Jean M. from Godfrey, IL recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in February, 2011 she made it right asap and refunded the cleaning deposit. So I would use them again.
UNHAPPY DUE TO NOISY CONSTRUCTION THE 2ND WEEK OF OUR STAY. Susan W. from Long Beach, WA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 16 days in October, 2010 The condo Kona Makai Bldg 6 #305 was beautiful. The interior decorating was island style and comfortable. Everything you could ask for. The lani chairs were tall enough that you could sit and still see the tropical and full ocean views and not look through the rail. All applicances, dishes, towels clean and easy to use. The big problem the 2nd week was paradise turned into . With out warning or any notice, the pool and hot tub were closed and contractors moved in with jack hammers, grinders, tile cutters and a constantly running cement mixer! The slop they caused ran onto the lower lani making it impossible to use the BBQ or walk to the shore. No sitting by the pool to sun bathe or read a book. So much dust it was hard to breathe. Prince Properties and the condo owners said they were not told about the construction. They offered us two days refund, but a total of 5 days that condo was uninhabitable. Thurs. we moved to a hotel, costing us an additional $700.00 plus the time away from our vacation having to move. The contractors took up all the parking by our building. There were a lot of very unhappy renters and owners. Shame on the board of directors!
Awesome Vacation A guest from Rancho Cucamonga, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 6 days in August, 2010 The condo was beautiful, the grounds and view were spectacular! Loved sitting on the terrace. Close enough to walk to town, which was quaint and fun. Farmer's market was wonderful! A trip to remember! Thank you!

Stayed for 14 days in April, 2010 Never saw the property manager - the office was always locked. We didn't have any problems checking in as we just completed one of the forms that was located on the door of the office. We didn't check out - sorry - was there a form for that? As well, with your confirmation of stay, it might be helpful to also provide the internet code for accessing the wireless. The wireless was hard to receive in the actual condo but had no problems out on the deck. Thanks again for a great stay - appreciated all the property had to offer.
