Disappointing stay at the beachhead condos A guest from San Antonio, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in January, 2016 The condo had a musty mildew smell that lasted almost the whole weekend. The fan/light was broken when you first entered the condo. The thing that was the ice tipper, the comforter in the master bedroom had long hair all over it. We didn't notice them till we got up off bed wearing black jeans. We had to go to walmart to by a blanket to cover us at night.
August 2015 Rodolfo E. from Houston, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 Check in was listed at 4 pm and we arrived 15 minutes early and could not pick up the keys. they had no waiting area so we had to wait in hot sun or in car. Unit was clean and nice inside however one of the beds was old and too soft. I had to sleep on couch the second night because of it. Everything else was good and we had a very nice time. Check out went okay but they should have on property check out instead of having to go offsite to drop off keys.
Great location and complex, not so great unit A guest from Austin, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 We had a blast at this complex. We had 8-10 year olds who loved the pool, playground and short walk to the beach. The unit itself needed some love, though. It was shabby overall, not that clean and full of broken and rusty things. Worst was the fridge which only intermittently worked so the freezer would defrost into the refrigerator. The maintenance guy was super helpful but he couldn't do much since the owner would have to replace it. Rusty kitchen utensils, broken lamps, fans and drawers, scalding water, etc.
Enjoyed our stay Brian R. from Tyler, Texas recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in July, 2015 We were happy with the rental. The condo was a little outdated, but clean and comfortable. Because of a family emergency, we had to try and re-book at the last minute. The staff was excellent in making the new arrangements. We were so appreciative that they were able to accommodate us. The location of this condo is close to the beach and to everything in town. Very convenient.
Great location, OK room A guest from Flint, Texas does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in July, 2015 The room was OK. It's an older condo. It is nice having the boardwalk to the beach, and the kids loved the pool. One downside is the room was very hot even with the AC on high, especially the master bedroom. When we arrived the AC was leaking in to the bathroom. We called port a escapes who called maintenance. The AC was fixed, but the condo never got that cool, and we stayed 2 nights. We bought a couple of fans to help at night. I Would not mind staying again, but it is not worth the price (over $300 a night with all the fees and taxes). I Could have gotten a very nice hotel room with working AC cheaper.
Port A Group Weekend Christy K. from San Antonio, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in July, 2015 We have stayed at Beahhead about 10 times over the years with very few issues. This time we had a couple. First was check in. We literally had to stand in the check in office until 4pm on the nose. We were actually told, "Just three more minutes." along with about 5 other families. Since it takes at least 5-10 minutes to get to the place you are staying this is a little bit crazy. Once in the room the AC wasn't working. we thought it would just need time to cool down in the heat however it would not cool below 78-80 all weekend and it dripped in the master bathroom (room with king bed). As you were brushing your teeth or going to the bathroom you would get condensation dripping on you. Even with these issues we would consider staying at Beachhead again. It is quiet and no one ever gives you issues for playing games or having fun past 10pm.
Do not rent BH105 Steven W. from Cypress, Texas does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 6 days in July, 2015 The condo is in deplorable condition. I complained the first day. Broke blinds, peeling paint, old kitchen utensils, stained carpet and furniture. You should not rent it again until it is updated. I still have not heard from anyone after I personally requested a call. This dump ruined my vacation!
Close to the beach! Joana R. from Odessa, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in August, 2014 Rental was nice and clean. Was pretty much stocked with everything you need except food of course. ;) Wish there were TV's in the bedroom, but we would definitely stay again.
Nice Stay but Needs Work! Shelly C. from Austin, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in July, 2014 The thermostat has to be set at 80 degrees at checkout so its expected the unit will be a little warmer the first day until it cools off, the sun also sets to the back so its warmer in the mid afternoon which was fine because we were out, not unbearable by any means. Two twin beds with headboards pushed together is not a King, it may equal in size but is not a comfortable King bed at all. Could at least put a egg crate on top to smooth out the crack between the two beds, otherwise its like sleeping on a twin to avoid it. The unit is very out dated and could use some work. Only one TV for the entire unit and its in living room. Should maximize the second bedroom that has a lot of space with one full bed, at least two fulls could fit. Carpet stains throughout and appliances outdated. I would not stay in 105BH again, it was ok for the 4 day stay as a first time but I have seen better for the price.
Beach Head 105BH A guest from BORGER, Texas recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in July, 2014 We always stay at the Beach Head condos when in Port A. This year tried a different condo (105BH). It was nice, but seemed pretty outdated compared to the others we have stayed in and the view of the ocean wasn't as good as we have had in the past. All in all it was a good stay, but we will definitely try another condo next time. I would definitely recommend Beach Head to a friend but not condo 105BH.
A/C not cold enough TAMRA D. from GONZALES, TEXAS recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in April, 2014 This is the 2nd time we've stayed at Beachhead and the only issue is the A/C both visits didn't seem to cool the place based on the temp set; nothing unreasonable...like 74 degrees. It just never felt cool enough. And I really don't like having to check in/out from a location other than the condo itself; it's just inconvenient in my opinion.
Locks on Doors Evelyn P. from Georgetown, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in April, 2014 Both the front and back door were very difficult to unlock. We had to work and work to finally get especially the back door open to the deck. Otherwise everything was satisfactory.
Spring break 2014 A guest from Goliad, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in March, 2014 Stay was comfortable. Plenty of space, towels, linens. Could have used few more pieces of non-stick pots and pans. Great location.
Beachead Condo's a nogo in future Christina L. from Round Rock, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 We stayed in unit 105 which was actually up two flights of stairs. Upon opening the door to the condo we were bombarded and overwhelmed with the smell of mothballs. It was HORRENDOUS! We searched everywhere looking for the source and we contacted the person on site to come unlock this door in one of the bedrooms so we could check. Let me tell you that lady did NOT want to assist us and according to her there was no odor. Her response was "Well what do you want me to do about it?" At least some friggin compassion and don't call my husband a Negative Nancy. He cannot help that he has Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and is affected by any unnatural odor around him. I do not have MCS, but this smell was pungent. My 9mo who isn't allergic to anything that we know of had full hives all over his body by the time we left. My 4 year old said it smelled bad. My inlaws who stayed with us could smell it as well. We actually left on Sunday night around 1030 instead of waiting til Monday morning to leave by checkout (11am) because we couldn't sleep another night in there. When we got home I had to wash everything 2x and use vinegar in the bleach and softener dispensers to remove the smell. I think our Tempurpedic pillows are trash. They still smell atrocious even after 2 days of airing out. The decorations!!! Oh my, it was like you stepped into 1980 when you walked in. The berber carpet was so dirty. The appliances were at least 15 yrs old. I also did not like that there is a not so tiny door on the outside that allows the people to come by and pick up your trash. The opening on the outside and the cabinet door on the inside definitely allow for someone to crawl through. We will never stay here again.
Great, but some issues.... A guest from Fairview, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 4 days in August, 2013 Location great, property well cleaned but with many stains on terribly worn carpet, internet great but no remote that worked with tv, AC needs maintenance - it worked, but barely. Management company was excellent.
Summer Beach trip A guest from Round Rock, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in August, 2013 Our visit was very enjoyable! We were close to the pool and a very short walk to the beach. The inside of the condo is what concerned us. None of the remotes worked for the tv (and we had 5 kids with us). Many of the lights in the place did not work. the carpet was stained really bad and the mini-blinds were broken. We felt like the owners could do better upkeep with the prices they charged. Overall, our grandkids had fun - they weren't too aware of some of the problems. We would like to go back to this rental property but will ask for a different condo in better condition.
Port A GetAway Angie S. from Arlen, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 6 days in July, 2013 we stayed in 408 it was clean and the master showere updated....very nice...but our children...teens stayed in 405 and not to nice carpet stained and dirty...needs to be taken out and something else put in and it never really got cool...and the showers were horrible....needs updating...we would stay in 408 again but not 405....and we are from Allen Texas ....not Arlen????
Beds are uncomfortable A guest from Austin, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in June, 2013 Pros: location, spaceyCons: not enough linens. Beds were ridiculously uncomfortable, funny smell in the condo. Did I mention the beds were ridiculously uncomfortable???
Good location, unit needs new carpet. Kimberly R. from Austin, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in May, 2013 Very happy with Port A Escapes...super professional and easy to work with. Unit is in a great location, but has filthy carpet and unattractive/outdated furniture. It is older and has some wear, but good value for the price.
Nice Holiday Weekend A guest from San Antonio, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in February, 2013 This property is very close to the beach, has a nice pool and friendly staff. The beds were comfortable in the unit we were in (each unit is uniquely decorated so you never quite know what you'll get). We are return guests here and always recommend it.
nasty, outdated Reviewed by: A guest does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in August, 2012 Stinky, uncomfortable beds, toilet ran all night and day as it was broken before we ever arrived, old old old. Will never be back, especially at the price they are asking. Too many other good...Errrr great places to stay in Port A. Don't book this. You'll wish you hadn't.
Very Disappointed robb r. from Fort Worth, texas does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012 Unit 105 is an old dingy condo. I could have stayed in the same type of unit for $150 less than what I paid there. For the price I expect a lot better facilities. Then the lady I was dealing with could only say "sorry", but she wouldn't offer to offset or make it a better stay. Just a very very very cold sorry that was meant to just move me out of the way to her next client. Another manager there said he'd make it right, but I haven't heard back from them.
GREAT PLACE! James E. from Katy, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 Everything was awesome at this property. The only complaint I have is that it really doesnt sleep 6 people as there is no possible way anyone could sleep on the pull-out sofa. The sofa and mattress are worn completely out. Not comfortable at ALL
Condo was okay but a staff was very racist A guest from Mansfield, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 We had a fun time until a small incidence happened in the swimming pool, the cleaning guy made a really discriminated comment which made my husband husband really mad, because we didn't do anything. He was being very racist!!! Other than that, the place is a short walk from the beach and everyone else was nice at the office. I wouldn't recommend this place to my Asian friends because I don't want them to run into the same situation.
Mostly positive stay Meagan S. from Austin, texas recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012 Condo was as described, good location, although on the 3rd floor which I didn't expect. The only issues were with the linens and the very poor mattress on the pull out sofa. The beds were not comfortable, and the pull out mattress cover had blood stains on it. These things happen- but the management company was no very helpful with fixing this. I called first thing in the morning, heard nothing, called in the afternoon and they told me I would have to go to the office to pick up the extra linens, we go there an they didn't have another mattress pad. An hour later I go a call to come back to the office. The office is only 5 min from the condo, but we were out enjoying our vacation. You would think they could have housekeeping bring it over.
Apartment 105 is okay. A guest from Victoria, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012 Enjoyed the beach and the location of 105 in vicinity to the pool and playground.Overall room appearance not very appealing, I would have to say dingy and worn out. One of the large windows in the living room did not have any covering or window blinds, therefore, the sun was a constant glare during the day and denied privacy at night. A call was placed from the room to ask about the shower head and no one ever returned the call. The shower head in the MBR was horrible and sprayed water all over the place and not on the occupant. We spent time cleaning up the floor after a shower than in the shower bathing.
Our Unit A guest from Frederic, WI recommends this property.
Stayed for 30 days in February, 2012 The grounds and staff were excellent. the unit we had needs lots of upkeep/maintenance/decorating. The cupboards were warped/needs painting/no hooks to even hang a coat or hatshower handles need repair. Very drab and dreary. Would definitely stay at Beachhead again, but never in this unit.
Beachhead Tammy D. from McDade, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in July, 2011 This was my 3rd time to stay at Beachhead. I have never had any issues with the condos until my recent stay. I thought the bathrooms needed a makeover and the tubs were filthy. My unhappiness is solely based on the last condo we stayed in. If that had been my first stay at Beachhead I would never stay there again but since I had a great room in years past I would probably consider staying again.
Enjoyable, memorable stay A guest from Cypress, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in August, 2010 We had a great time, the beach was clean, property was very convenient to everything, and the condo was very roomy cna comfortable. Covered parking was nice, and every thing had been recently renovated on the property. We would enjoy staying there again in the future.
The Sea Dreams condo at Beach Head is in desperate need of repair Regina H. from San Antonio, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in June, 2010 I was so completely dissatisfied with the condition of this condo. Carpet is horribly stained, looks disgusting. Bathrooms look worse than staying at a run down Motel 6. Tacky cheap Wal Mart bedding. Overall condition is run down and dingy. Beds were at least comfortable and sheets seemed clean. No one ever came with extra towels and only had 2 small bars of soap for 2 bathrooms. The units shown on website are attractive and our friends in another unit had a great condo. At $240 a night, I feel violated like I should sue for false advertising. I won't be back!
