Nicely decorated condo - closest to Boardwalk to beach.
A guest from College Station, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2016 Enjoyed The Seagull unit which is one of the most updated Beachhead units which are located on the beachfront. Nicely decorated with fully stocked kitchen. Nice to have 2 TVs so kids can watch on one and adults on the other at night. (We were mostly on the beach.) this unit is closest to Boardwalk entrance. If you are not an early riser, don't sleep in the master bedroom because the blinds do not block the daylight streaming in by 6 a.m.! Also, nice to be close to stores and restaurants.
A guest from austin, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2016 The pool was the cleanest I've seen it in 25+ years. The new manager is a vast improvement over the previous one. Your system of having the cleaning people call you when the unit is ready is flawed. The check in time shouldn't be so late.
Melody M. from Austin, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2016 Beachhead condos are in an ideal location with beautiful views of the gulf, and a short drive to restaurants and shops. The property is very well maintained and our condo was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We felt right at home preparing meals in the fully renovated kitchen, playing games around the kitchen table and sleeping in the comfy beds. The sunrises and sunsets were amazing from our balcony. Port-A Escapes provided excellent customer service and communication from booking through check-out. We hope to return soon!
A guest from Fort Worth, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2016 Beautiful weather mid MayCute little place for this family of 5. The kids lovedthe bunk room and the super clean pool. Master bed was very comfortable.
Marjie D. from San Antonio, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2015 The condo was very comfortable, clean and roomy. Furniture was comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, dishes, etc, Everything was perfect. The only negative is that the door locks need WD-40 badly
Property Manager Response: Response from Port Aransas Escapes We are glad to hear you had a wonderful time and enjoyed your condo. We will inform maintenance of the door issue and have it resolved quickly. Just give us a call when you are ready to come back to Port A.
A guest from AUSTIN, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2015 We enjoyed our stay but there are a few things that would have made it better. The master bedroom in this unit is VERY bright early in the morning. Some curtains or better shades would have made our stay much more pleasant. We had hoped to sleep in but the sun woke us up by 7am. The internet did not work during our stay. Sometimes the network would appear and then disappear. This happened on multiple devices. We called & asked for the router to be reset but I'm not sure that this happened. At any rate, we did not have internet access during our stay so had to create a hot spot on our iPhones. It would have been nice to have Salt & Pepper and maybe coffee for the first day. Most rental places where we've stayed in the past have a few of the essentials. A broom or vacuum would have been nice, as things get pretty sandy - even taking our shoes off outside the unit. I do like to keep things clean! :) Other than those changes, we enjoyed our stay, the unit was clean and comfortable and we loved being so close to the beach. We would come again!
Connie H. from New Braunfels, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2015 The condo was immaculant. Everything we needed was right there. Great views from the deck. Loved the decor and the location. We will be back again! Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us. Many blessings!
Susanne P. from Pflugerville, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2015 Adorable beach cottage feel. Loved the easy beach access. Only drawback was the 4 pm check-in. Since so few people were checking in on a Sunday afternoon, it seems our room could have been ready sooner. But the management staff was super nice about everything.I only gave 4stars for the furniture because the recliner wasn't in good shape. With the baby, we needed a good rocker. But it was still comfortable and the rest of the place was great!!!We had 4 adults, 1 84-year old, and 1 5-month old. Everyone was super happy with the trip and loved where we stayed. I think the Master bedroom was top notch - so pretty , super comfy bed and pillows, beach view! I didn't want to leave!
A guest from La Grange, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2015 This condo was great for our family of 3 and grandparents. Nicely decorated, well equipped and an easy walk to the beach.
Oscar v. from universal city, texas recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2015 we weren't sure what to expect since we found our rental while doing an online search, but we were really happy with our choice. It met all our needs and was convenietly located to the beach and pier fishing. We are already looking at booking another stay
Mariam F. from Bastrop, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2015 Spotless clean place! Kids and adults loved it. Just a few feet from the beach if you don't want to spend extra on beach parking.
Very comfortable and an enjoyable Thanksgiving vacation
Marion M. from Austin, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2014 Just a few suggestions: make it easier to find (Pirate's Bay cottages are at the back of a lot, next to a motel and we drove back and forth looking for it (in the dark). A lighted sign would have been very welcome! We also thought the check-out time of 11:00 AM was too early on Saturday morning and we had to hustle to do everything by that time. Maybe a dropbox for keys on the property would have been helpful as we had to hunt down the Port Aransas Escapes office. But overall, we had a great time and would go there again.
Maria G. from San Antonio, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 The condominium itself was very welcoming. My family and I had a wonderful stay and plan to return. Very close the the beach and to restaurants. The pool was wonderful and far enough from the condos that you could not hear the people there. It was a ver quiet stay. We loved it!
A guest from San Antonio, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 Very relaxing. Easy access to the beach. Only issue was that the sign to the complex was not illuminated for night arrivals.
Daniel D. from Houston, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2013 Well keys didn't work because they were changed, so had to sit outside condo until maintenance man brought new key. Second day the water went out and couldn't shower after beach, they were moving furniture down the stairs all night and it was so loud. I guess they were renovating the condo across the hall. Manager of port aransas escapes was very unhelpful and very unprofessional. The maintenance man was the only person we saw on sight and he was very nice and helpful.
Delia K. from Keller, Texas recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2013 We stay with this complex every year and are never disappointed. I love the location, right next to the beautiful beach. The condo is clean and very nice.Comfortable decor and comfy beds. The pool is nice and the grounds are clean. We enjoy the playground and enjoy cooking out on one of the grills on the property. I like the new gazebo that has been installed since we were there last. I would definately recommend this place and I do all the time.
Marcos C. from San Antonio, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2013 This was one of the best stays by far. The location is perfect for fishing, beach fun and convenient to all the shops on the strip. My family and I had a memorable stay, and we are already planning on another visit to Port Aransas.
A guest from SA, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2013 I definitely enjoyed my stayed, but I was not pleased with the bug smell when I entered the property. It was obvious that the room had just been sprayed and the smell was very strong. We left to get air freshners to help elivate the smell. I completetly understand that the coast is known for having bugs in rooms but spraying should be done after checkout and not before someone checks in. It would also be nice if the room was checked on before someone checked in. The room was nice and it worked for our group of 6, plenty of space.
Philip R. from Austin, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2013 It was very pleasant and clean. Highly recommend my unit to anyone wanting to chill and relax. Nice thing was I was able to walk to each location I wanted to go to. The place was centrally located to everything I needed.
Debra S. from Cedar Park, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2012 The unit was nice but very dated, especially the kitchen. When we tried to open the curtains in the bedroom, the rod fell on us.We also had a little trouble with the dishwasher, but finally got it going. Also, the master bedroom was small and very dark. Other than that, it had a great location and view and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
A guest from Plano, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2012 I would not recommend this unit to anyone. Our first impression of the unit was a smell of mothballs which persisted for the 3 days we were there. During our stay we had to dispose of two almost dead cockroaches and there was at least 1 more that we saw that was alive and got away. The description says "The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need", but the only 2 pots were large and were corroded and gross. We had to clean the knife and cutting board the first time we used it because they had obvious dirt on them. The refrigerator and toaster were rusted, and the carpets looked quite dirty around the edges (I didn't want to look too closely). We were able to connect to their WiFi internet, but it was spotty at best. Sometimes the network didn't even show up and other times the connection was so slow as to be unusable. The pool was OK, but it seemed kind of cloudy and during the middle of the day there was no shade to be had. A couple of tables/umbrellas would go a long way there. The staff didn't seem to care much either. When I called to see why I hadn't received my confirmation email with directions to the unit they asked me to wait another couple of days. 3 days later I called and had to leave a message which was never returned. Finally, 2 days before we were to travel there I called again and they finally figured out they had entered my email address wrong. No apologies though.Oh well, now I know.
A guest from Austin, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 The 2 units we rented need more cloth kitchen towels, kitchenware, and silverware. Also needs more toilet tissue depending on length of stay. Overall a little expensive compared to neighboring properties unless 7th day returns to being free. Great place though!
A guest from Austin, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2012 The amenities don't really exist, except for the location. The tennis courts are broken down with no nets, so no tennis. The Wifi never did work (four iphones, one laptop, one ipad, none could ever connect). The place is a bit rundown and musty, and the carpet is pretty disgusting. Aside from that, the boardwalk to the beach is nice and the location is nice. It's just not anything like the pictures. If you're looking for mediocre to blah, this is the place. If you're looking for a nice place, this isn't it. Great location for young spring-breakers though.
A guest from Southlake, Texas recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in January, 2012 This was our second stay at Beachhead. We really like the location and the complex. The beach is in view and just a short walk along the boardwalk. Beachhead is very family oriented and relatively quiet-except for the sound of the waves.
Heather L. from Austin, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2011 We have stayed at BeachHead for 4th of July weekend 2011. Last year, we stayed in 301, our friends in 307 and 406. Though each condo is decorated differently, but basically the same layout and price. All were comfortable, though 406 was a definite standout. This year, we were late in booking and had to choose unit 302. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. 302 is a dump. We were met by an overwhelming odor of insecticide and immediately saw the result, 4 dead cockroaches on the floor. During our stay we saw MANY live cockroaches, there is roach poop on the walls, surfaces and even cockroach nests behind the pictures. The first night, I had baby cockroaches climb on me while I was sleeping. I killed one on me and when I moved my pillow in the morning, had one scurry down the bed. We ended up moving all the beds away from the walls and taking off the bed skirts so that the points of contact with the ground were reduced. The kitchen cabinets were a hodgepodge of what looked to be reclaimed cabinets? The door to the garbage wouldn't even close (which was unfortunate, because there were live cockroaches in there!). The counter was falling/sinking, as evidence by the line of broken caulk. The whole side of the refrigerator is a mess of rusted spots (not shown in pictures). Some of the kitchen drawers do not work. The furnishings and decoration are dated, but fine. The carpet is dirty and stained. There was no cable to the TV, and with no antenna, meant there was no TV service the entire stay. The bug problem alone led us to call the management twice, but they were unable to help us find another unit, as all were rented. They were completely unsympathetic, telling my husband, 'You saw the pictures of the unit!' Well yes, but the roaches weren't in the pictures. Only after our stay, when we showed them PICTURES of the unit did they offer us a 20% discount. There are nice units at Beachhea
Charles S. from Clinton Township, MI recommends this property. Stayed for 28 days in February, 2011 We enjoyed our month at Port A very much. Brenda, Cynthia & Jason were all very pleasant and accommodating. It would have been helpful to have printed info on the complex and community (use of phone in unit, beach parking fee, activities at community & senior center, location of grocery stores, hospital, churches, theatre, perhaps even recommended restaurants). We learned much from the cable station due to being iced in for 2 days, and explored on our own until we met other guests midway in our stay at a morning coffee.
A guest from Austin, Texas does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2010 We were very happy with our stay till the last night. There was a major leak in the ceiling from the unit upstairs bathroom. I was very impressed with how quickly the maintenance guy came by to assess the situation, but we were distressed with the lack of follow-up from him, and waited for 30 minutes for him to come back before we gave up and just went to bed. The other problem with the last night was that someone was in the spot overhead, and they were LOUD. It sounded like a herd of elephants jumping up and down. Thankfully they settled down at 10, but it was very annoying. If we do stay at Beachhead again we will make sure that we get an upstairs unit to avoid that scenario again. The one other thing that would prevent us from coming back to Beachhead was the lack of towel service coupled with the fact that we paid an additional $50 cleaning fee. I was surprised that we were required to take out the trash, and load and run the dishwasher and pay $50 to clean the condo, and we never received clean towels.
