Mad Lar is a great home with a partial view of the ocean. Beautiful views of the ocean from the deck and dock. This big house was made for family gatherings, beach weddings and any occasion requiring space for twelve - and room in the fridge.
No matter the reason for your next vacation season, Mad Lar Beach House has four very spacious bedrooms available, three full bathrooms and loads of living space as well.
Will any parents in your group be traveling with small children? If so, this house has two bedrooms with both queen beds and children's beds - a very unique feature. Split between levels for added privacy in a big group, two bedrooms are upstairs, while another two are downstairs.
A fantastic living area is perfect for gathering all together, whether for a communal meal or just hanging out. Cathedral ceilings are fitted with a ceiling fan, to make the best use of lovely ocean breezes. In the wintertime, light the fireplace and enjoy your cozy cottage by the sea.
Furniture and decoration is of a very high quality and is perfectly suited to this historic seaside location. Knickknacks and little touches make every corner special, no matter where you happen to land with a good book and a cool drink.
Partial ocean views are yours to enjoy while you spend relaxing hours in this lovely home, though the deck offers an even better vantage point. Two routes get you to the nearby beach in no time at all; choose to walk there or paddle by boat.
Located in lovely Summer Haven, soft sand dunes and the Matanzas River are yours to explore. Large groups, weddings or reunions can very easily rent Mad Lar Beach House in combination with next door Villa Villekula (sleeps 10) or, nearby, The Lodge (sleeps 10) and The Hut (sleeps 6). These homes all share the same management, ensuring the same high standard and an easy booking process.
Invite everyone round for a sunrise breakfast and, later, end the day with sunset cocktails. Both can be uniquely enjoyed at Mar Lar Beach House.
Note: Summer Haven is constantly changing with nature. The SummerHaven river behind the house is largely a sand dune and can provide direct beach access. Due to Tropical Storm Faye erosion, there is now an area of large boulders blocking the old beach access points. Although you can walk in between these boulders to access the beach like the locals that live near by, the nearest easy beach access is approximately 1 mile north at Fort Mantanzas National Park. It has (free) paved parking and provides beach access via a meandering boardwalk through the park.

Great location...but, Emmalie L. from Waleska, Georgia recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 the carpets were filthy. I called the property management company to let them know and thought I could handle the stains but the morning after check in we rented a carpet cleaner and spent the second morning of our vacation cleaning carpets. They still had stains but at least I could walk barefoot in the bedroom. Otherwise we had a great stay and loved the short walk to the beach. Wonderful vacation A guest from Dacula, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2012 We were an extended family of eight and enjoyed our stay at the Mad Lar very much. The location was perfect. It was secluded, but not so far that the teenagers couldn't walk to the store. The mix of nature and beach was amazing. When we arrived, the grill was out of propane, and the main tv didn't function, however, the property manager was very on top of things and we able to grill on schedule, and watch the race on Sunday evening. If we find ourselves back in St. Augustine, we will surely rent this property again. Great location but....... A guest from Westminister, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in November, 2011 We rented this house to have a house close to the the beach for a family reunion. We absolutely loved the location but we had several issues with the overall maintenance condition of the house and customer servce. It started with the key not being where they said it would be and having to have someone come over at 10pm after a day of travel to give us the key. The fridge wouldn't close properly & the freezer did not keep things cold enough so our ice cream was soupy. We rented over Thanksgiving and the oven stopped working. Then the maintenance company did come and fix it but we continued to have issues. Also, the sliding doors were hard to close and open. Finally, we accidentally left a dvd disc in the dvd player and I called the next day to check on it and the person from vacationrentalpros said they would get right back to me. After several days I called again and they said the same. It has now been a month and no one has called even just to say they couldn;t find it. So while overall I give this property a thumbs up I feel with some basic maintenance and some better customer service it could have been much better. We like to rent homes so that we are all together. This house served its purpose but it could use some updating to its appliances. The management company did bring a new grill after a call to maintenance. The 2 bedrooms on the first floor are accessed through the garage and not connected to the main floor. The house is not located in St Augustine, approximately 15 miles south near Crescent Beach, not much in the area for entertainment. Nice house , and great location. The housekeeping could b e better. There were atleast three lamps that were broke two in livin Lola F. from Seffner, FL recommends this property. Overall great house and location and would refere friends. Just think the housekeeping needs to step it up . Perhaps someone in management needs to check behind them and make sure they are doing there job once in awhile to keep them on there toes. Need new bed in room with bunk beds. Mattress is no good.I know it sounds like I might be picky, but im sure Im not the only one that will notice these things. This review is intended to help you make others stay at Mad Lar better. Loud bridge construction Linda R. from Rockledge, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2011 I read the November review about the bridge construction going on just yards from the house, and it looked like the project would have been completed before our March arrival. We should have been warned that this was not the case. The cranes and pile drivers started at eight in the morning and went until five in the afternoon. There was even a seismic box right outside the deck to measure the force of the impacts. It was maddening, and altho the house suited us very well, and we were able to walk to the beach, I would not recommend it for that reason at this time. Also, the website gives the impression you could put a canoe or kayak right off the 300 foot dock, but there is only inches of water there, even at high tide. I called the manager about the construction noise, but did not receive a call back. Stayed for 7 days in November, 2010 Lot's of construction on the bridge. Could not sleep in due to construction noise. The construction was less than 12 feet from the yard. This was not disclosed before renting the house - so be sure to ask before you rent. Kind of killed the idea of a quiet vacation because the construction went on all day and was loud and at times shook the house. The property is very nice other than the construction.
