A guest from Oakland, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in January, 2017 This is a very "sixties" cabin, with a beautiul view of the woods. The rooms very cozy and the living room was great for hanging out. It was just perfect for our family of six. The best part is the two minute drive to Alpine Meadows! The management company was extremely helpful when we lost our car keys in the snow!
A guest from FREMONT, California recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2016 The management Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a great time at this rental property. A very nice getaway from the hustle of the crowded city. The location of this cabin is amazing.Though there are some things that you need to consider before you go:1> The bathroom door locks do not work2> The rooms also do not have any locks3> pets are allowed here so the Sofa had a lot of pet hair which stuck to our jeans, if you are allergic to pets , you have a problem here or maybe it wasn't cleaned the day we arrived.4> This place does not have A DISHWASHER.
A guest from San francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2016 The rental was adorable. It would be helpful to include instructions re water heater in the welcome pamphlet. Also that there is no shampoo/conditioner/hair dryer.
Ariane v. from Kensington, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2016 I was not aware there was no wifi and no cell phone coverage. this made our stay there very complicated as all adults were supposed to work.
Maria Manuela G. from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2015 Perfect place to stay during your visit to Tahoe during the winter. Plenty of space to sleep a family of 8. Lots of board games is a plus. Big dining table for the whole family. Loved that we didn't have to drive to play in the snow just right behind the cabin. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need from forks to plates and pans! Loved it! :)
A guest from Palo Alto, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2015 We stayed at Barry Cabin with my family (husband and 2 kids) and my sister's family (husband and 2 kids). It was perfect -- adorable little rooms up in the eaves for sleeping in pairs and ample room to eat and hang out together in the living room. Simple furnishings, but just right. Might be relevant to know that there's no dishwasher or phone, and the kitchen is old school but functional.
A guest from Larkspur, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2014 We rented the Barry Cabin over a three day weekend with another family. It was delightful and cozy, with plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 pre-teens. The cabin is lovely and old school - basic kitchen, wood stove, etc - so if you're looking for a modern, gourmet kitchen McMansion then keep looking. The views out the 3-story windows of the forest and mountain are spectacular. Plus, you can't beat the location for skiing at Alpine or Squaw.
Yossi M. from Los Gatos, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2013 This was our 4th time in Barry Cabin. As always, the rental company was professional, the property was clean, and we enjoyed the great location for a week. We'd most likely come to stay again.
A guest from Elk Grove, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2013 Christmas dinner was badly burnt. Oven needs to be recalibrated. Bathroom door lock did not work. No dishwasher so not enough dish towels to complete the dishes. Not enough dish soap to last two days Disappointed
Gregory P. from Quincy, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2013 So nice and quiet. Very enjoyable, and it was nice to be able to have our dogs with us. Already planning for our return visit, longer this time.
Matt R. from Santa Clara, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2013 A cabin that feels like a real cabin, it has character, beautiful furnishings, and wood everything. Gorgeous living room that is so cozy at night with the woodstove glowing hotly, it truly is the place I imagine when I think of the perfect getaway.
Shannon W. from San Anselmo, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2013 This is a special property and we were very happy with the location, the house itself and the management company. We will definitely rent it again.
Fabrice M. from San Diego, California recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in February, 2013 Our first time in Alpine Meadows. We were 2 French families (4 adults & 5 kids)in Barry cabin and we really enjoyed our stay there. It's a very friendly place where we can all seat together to share our meals and to play games (so many games in the cupboard) and relax in the living room. Kids had fun outside playing with the sleds after our ski day. We love this place.
Yossi M. from Los Gatos, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2012 Third time in Barry Cabin, and as always - great time. The location is great, the management staff is very professional, and the property was clean and equipped, just what our family needed for a great snow vacation.
A guest from Del Mar, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2011 Got three parking tickets, even though Barry website guarantees 4 to 5 parking spaces on private street. Policeman said it's a county road. Alpine Rental Group promised to resolve the dispute and pay the fines, if it is not a private road.Would be nice to get Internet service, especially since there is very poor and spotty cellular reception. All other cabins in the area have Internet. Also, kitchen equipment is quite outdated, and there is no dishwasher.Steep Price hike on lift tickets (i.e. Super Senior from $ 10.-- to $ 20.-- to $ 37.-- within the last two years, plus hike of the age limits for Senior and Super Senior tickets) after take-over by Squaw Valley - no advantage, cannot be at two ski areas at the same time! Doesn't make sense in the current economic situation. Otherwise everybody loves the cozy atmosphere of Barry Cabin.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tahoe Vacation Rentals, Inc The tickets have been rescinded and the issue will be presented in the next county supervisor meeting at the end of this month. Internet service continues to be an issue within Alpine Meadows since the cable and phone companies do not deem the cost of infrastructure installation a profitable venture. The only internet available is through remote transmition from atop Juniper Mountain where a private company out of Foresthill has their set-up. Not all homes have line of site to the transmitter therefore cannot get internet. This is not a choice an owner makes to supply or not supply this service. Cell phones work in certain places, but not throughout the valley. The mountains cut off signals so even cell phone aircards are not a guarantee. To stay in business here at the base of Alpine Meadows Road, we installed a private T-1 Line from the highway to our office building. Our county supervisor, Squaw Valley Marketing, and Tahoe Resort Association will get a copy of this review.
Barry's cabin was much better than the pictures. I loved the ambiance and the eclectic decor. The beds were comfortable, kitch
Karen V. from Redwood City, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2011 Linda, Thanks especially for going out of your way to help with chains, lighting, snow removal. You were helpful and friendly. KV
A guest from Del Mar, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2010 Some maintenance needed (lights, door hinge). Comforters should have covers.Dishwasher and Internet would be great!
Property Manager Response: Response from Tahoe Vacation Rentals, Inc The lights and door hinge were taken care of right after their departure and the owner will receive a copy of this review. Bed spreads cover the down comforters, but duvets would be a good improvement. Internet is difficult to obtain in Alpine Meadows since the cable and phone companies have not installed the infrastructure. The only sources are aircards off cell phones or reception from a transmitter atop Juniper Mountain. Those properties with line of sight can get internet, but those with obstructions cannot. Homeowner associations and individual residents have written letters to no avail. Not enough population to deem the effort profitable, so they say.
Yossi M. from Los Gatos, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2010 Second time for us in Barry Cabin. Like last time, we've had a great time.Location is great, very private and near everything. Cabin is not new, but very well maintained. If it only had a hot tub and Internet connection, it would be perfect.
Linda W. from Santa Rosa, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2010 The cabin was perfect for two adults and teenage boys. Would probably not work for two adult couples with children as well. Great location with much to do.Please do not include our name in any review. Thank you
A guest from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2010 This is our second time staying at this property. It's proximity to the lifts at Alpine Meadows is a big asset.
Yossi M. from Los Gatos, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2009 Overall, we had a great stay at the Barry Cabin. The location is great for winter activities. It's the only property in a little cul-de-sac, with nice wooded space around it. Feels very private. The cabin was clean, and had a nice supply of extra towels, blankets, and wood for the fireplace. We were surprised to discover a large cabinet full of board-games and toys, that kept our four kids busy during stormy evenings. The kitchen was OK, could use some maintenance but it was functional. A few dishes were not very clean - would have been nice if management checked that prior to our arrival.Overall, we wanted a week in a nice cabin in the woods, and were very satisfied with our stay.
A guest from Richmond, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2009 Everything was fine, no surprises (except we didn't realize there was only one shower in the house, as you list it with 2.5 bathrooms, but one only has a bathtub, no shower. You might want to make this clear to people in the future.) Thanks!
Kimberly W. from Orinda, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2009 Wish we could just leave the keys in the cabin upon checkout or drop off after skiing. Having to drop the keys in the morning negates the advantages of the great location.
