A cabin that feels like a real cabin, it has character, beautiful furnishings, and wood everything. Gorgeous living room that is so cozy at night with the woodstove glowing hotly, it truly is the place I imagine when I think of the perfect getaway.

Our first time in Alpine Meadows. We were 2 French families (4 adults & 5 kids)in Barry cabin and we really enjoyed our stay there. It's a very friendly place where we can all seat together to share our meals and to play games (so many games in the cupboard) and relax in the living room. Kids had fun outside playing with the sleds after our ski day. We love this place.

Third time in Barry Cabin, and as always - great time. The location is great, the management staff is very professional, and the property was clean and equipped, just what our family needed for a great snow vacation.

Alpine Meadows Ski Area Disappointments

Got three parking tickets, even though Barry website guarantees 4 to 5 parking spaces on private street. Policeman said it's a county road. Alpine Rental Group promised to resolve the dispute and pay the fines, if it is not a private road.Would be nice to get Internet service, especially since there is very poor and spotty cellular reception. All other cabins in the area have Internet. Also, kitchen equipment is quite outdated, and there is no dishwasher.Steep Price hike on lift tickets (i.e. Super Senior from $ 10.-- to $ 20.-- to $ 37.-- within the last two years, plus hike of the age limits for Senior and Super Senior tickets) after take-over by Squaw Valley - no advantage, cannot be at two ski areas at the same time! Doesn't make sense in the current economic situation. Otherwise everybody loves the cozy atmosphere of Barry Cabin.

The tickets have been rescinded and the issue will be presented in the next county supervisor meeting at the end of this month. Internet service continues to be an issue within Alpine Meadows since the cable and phone companies do not deem the cost of infrastructure installation a profitable venture. The only internet available is through remote transmition from atop Juniper Mountain where a private company out of Foresthill has their set-up. Not all homes have line of site to the transmitter therefore cannot get internet. This is not a choice an owner makes to supply or not supply this service. Cell phones work in certain places, but not throughout the valley. The mountains cut off signals so even cell phone aircards are not a guarantee. To stay in business here at the base of Alpine Meadows Road, we installed a private T-1 Line from the highway to our office building. Our county supervisor, Squaw Valley Marketing, and Tahoe Resort Association will get a copy of this review.

New Year 2011 - Tons of Snow

Some maintenance needed (lights, door hinge). Comforters should have covers.Dishwasher and Internet would be great!

The lights and door hinge were taken care of right after their departure and the owner will receive a copy of this review. Bed spreads cover the down comforters, but duvets would be a good improvement. Internet is difficult to obtain in Alpine Meadows since the cable and phone companies have not installed the infrastructure. The only sources are aircards off cell phones or reception from a transmitter atop Juniper Mountain. Those properties with line of sight can get internet, but those with obstructions cannot. Homeowner associations and individual residents have written letters to no avail. Not enough population to deem the effort profitable, so they say.

Second time for us in Barry Cabin. Like last time, we've had a great time.Location is great, very private and near everything. Cabin is not new, but very well maintained.If it only had a hot tub and Internet connection, it would be perfect.

Overall, we had a great stay at the Barry Cabin. The location is great for winter activities. It's the only property in a little cul-de-sac, with nice wooded space around it. Feels very private. The cabin was clean, and had a nice supply of extra towels, blankets, and wood for the fireplace. We were surprised to discover a large cabinet full of board-games and toys, that kept our four kids busy during stormy evenings.The kitchen was OK, could use some maintenance but it was functional. A few dishes were not very clean - would have been nice if management checked that prior to our arrival.Overall, we wanted a week in a nice cabin in the woods, and were very satisfied with our stay.

Everything was fine, no surprises (except we didn't realize there was only one shower in the house, as you list it with 2.5 bathrooms, but one only has a bathtub, no shower. You might want to make this clear to people in the future.) Thanks!

Wish we could just leave the keys in the cabin upon checkout or drop off after skiing. Having to drop the keys in the morning negates the advantages of the great location.
