Recreational room w/ pool table + ping-pong set-up, large game table, hardwood floors and wet bar. Upgraded kitchen is fully furnished and includes a large breakfast bar. Dining Room has a built-in china cabinet, dining for eight and hardwood floors. There are three TV's, a DVD + 2 VCR's and Stereo w/ CD player. Exterior includes two decks, hot tub + BBQ and a stone patio. Driveway accomodates 4 vehicles.

Stayed for 3 days in April, 2013 We stay in Bodega Bay every year for the Fisherman's Festival and decided to rent the home next door to our friends house since the group has expanded from the original 8 of us. Overall, Bluewater Retreat is in a fantastic location. The home is spacious and has a great layout for kids to play and adults to socialize and have fun. The only reason I am giving three stars on general condition and cleanliness is that when we arrived, everything was a bit dusty as if it had not been recently cleaned. Additionally, we had to rewash all of the dishes as I'm not sure the renters before us left everything in tip top shape. Other than that (which was easily resolved), we loved it and would go back in a heartbeat! |

Bodega Escapes offered another rental replacement, but we decided to take this anyway since we only had a week to change plans. We were not given a discount, again odd. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2012 Since we planned our trip to Bodega Bay sometime in advance, we knew there was a chance of having bad weather. Well, the storm hit the day we arrived and stayed all 4 days. The Blue Water Retreat property saved the trip. If you're going to be stuck inside, this is the house to be stuck in. A great kitchen with everything you need to whip up big dinners or late night snacks. The dining area had enough room for the whole group and beautiful views of the bay. The game room with a pool table and ping pong really helped entertain everyone. The family room was spacious, yet cozy with very comfortable furniture. The sleeping accommodations were clean and comfortable. During breaks in the storm, we were able to walk down to the beach and enjoy the beautiful views. We also managed to enjoy the spa located on the back deck. We all hope to come back someday when the weather is nice, but I'll really look forward to the nights when we're all relaxing inside. |

Stayed for 3 days in October, 2011 I rented the house mostly for the view and the large space provided by combining the dinning room, the living room and a game room. The kitchen was adequately furnished, altho the gas grill is very small, not nearly large enough to cook for 8 to 10 people. It was perfect for a family reunion. The views from the large room are wonderful. We saw a bobcat on the green next to the house. The walk to the beach is very assessable. We loved the pool table/ pingpong table.The downsides were no hot water (which was fixed by the evening of the second day, a VERY inadequate dishwasher, and a downstairs bedroom with no bathroom. |

The best parts of the house are the kitchen and the game room....which we enjoyed immensely. However, the furnishings are slightly out dated (think 1980's) and the house itself is in great need of some improvements (ie: the bedroom door leading to the hot tub barely opens and shuts, and the dining area floor is sloping). Although the bottom room is labeled a "bedroom", it is obviously a converted room that is cold and uninviting. Our 13 and 14 year old children were not comfortable sleeping there. Also, the bedding desperately needs to be replaced in all rooms, for it is obvious they have not been for years. The pillows are stained and have odor, even through the pillow cases. So, all in all, despite a few areas needing improvement, the location and kitchen/game room make this home worth considering. |

Stayed for 3 days in January, 2010 My family group has stayed at Bluewater for years, and will continue to do so. Great location, good amount of space and amenities. We will book the same time again next year and are already looking forward to it.We've rented many vacation places over the decades. Things that we find a bit substandard: Pots and pans are badly warn and dangerous for cooking. Basic shapes and sizes are present but we had to bring our own to feel safe cooking. Teflon pans are not good in rentals, they wear badly. An inexpensive stainless set from Costco or a good discount store is fine, or replacing sets of Teflon pans ever couple of years so they are in good shape is also good. Very minor expense that makes cooking a pleasant and healthy experience.The toilets need work: they do not flush properly and will run wasting water. Each should have its interior parts replaced, or better would be to replace them with modern low flow units that are often less expensive than repairing expensive older models.Shower heads are caking up with minerals. More towels and linens. Each year we ask for more. With the tub and showers, a group needs extra linens.Light bulbs: many were out, and more were delivered. It's disconcerting to get there and have to call in for little things like light.The oven still does not close all the way, but works.Firewood: in winter, enough firewood for a full load each night would save a great deal on the electric bill for the radiant heaters in the main space and game room. If there was more than we found behind the woodstove, it was not obvious where it was. In other rentals, there was a supply in the garage or a shed we could draw from.It would be good to have the phone number of the house so late or lost members c |
